Outstanding video. Thank you for the time you gave and information you shared. I'm hoping you can help me. I have a 2007 Toyota Matrix, as I understand is the same as a Corolla, I paid a mechanic to change the clutch and flywheel. I lack time and tools to get the job done myself. From the day I picked up my car I have had an ongoing issue that I never had prior to the clutch and FW replacement. You maybe able to shed light on what might be the problem. When driving, regardless of speed or gear I am in, if I go over irregular road surface, e.g. train tracks, the RMP will drop out completely for an instant and then resume. This doesn't happen all the time though, Now the problem has gone from RPM dropping out and resuming correct RPM to stalling the car. When the car stalls it will start right up again and then drive no problem until the next time it happens, which could be at any moment or go for days without a problem. In trouble shooting this I have replaced the spark plugs, new fuel pump assembly, mass air flow sensor and cleaned the intake system. All work done by mechanic (different mechanic who changed out the clutch and FW) hoping that this will fix the problem. He also checked any fuse issues, loose wire harness, ground terminals, and love tapped almost the entire top surface of the engine to see if there's a loose connection somewhere. No luck. When the clutch and FW were replaced, is there a chance that a cable has been stretched or plug that isn't connecting properly in a less obvious place other than the top side of the engine be the cause of this worsening intermittent problem? Any suggestions/advise is welcome. Many thanks, Steve.

Great videos. Just got my transaxle dropped on my 2006 Toyota Matrix XRS (6-speed)! One thing that this video misses (or is different on the 6-speed Matrix) is that the rear motor mount will not be able to come out with just the bolts shown in this video (there are additional bolts coming down from the top that appear to be nearly impossible to access with the transaxle in place). We solved this by removing the three bolts holding the motor mount to the transaxle. It was quite difficult as the 06 Matrix has even less room behind the motor than the 05 Corolla, but was doable removing two from the top (literally laying on the engine for one) and one from the bottom (by feel as its almost impossible to see from beneath). You will need a 14mm wrench for some of them (too tight for a socket). In any case thanks again as this video series was super helpful and all things considered very complete!

@krisdobson5243 it's a 2004, but I would say, based on your description of what happened, that it's probably the same issue. The holes are a bit hidden if you're not high enough to get a good look so keep that in mind. Anyway, yea it immediately fixed the problem for me so hopefully it'll do the same for you. Just run a piece of wire that's flexible enough to bend some, yet rigid enough to not just fold back over itself and that should work fine. You could also use a small drain snake as long as it'll fit. If you don't have either of those, I would imagine compressed air would work well but might be a bit messy. Good luck.

Thanks for the comment. The only whine or squeal I'm aware of from an engine is the steering pump. It's quite an annoying sound, like a small child can be irritating. I think you could likely isolate it by opening the hood and getting as close to the pump as possible.

I was there in 2022. I've chatted with a couple of soldiers from different nations. On asking a fellow German, why they are in such a hurry, he replied: "Bundeswehr only pays us until noon. 😉" 😂 And of course the Norwegians... "THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY!" "NORWAY!" The Americans were the most chillaxed and polite ones. Seemed like they were taking it rather as an honour than a duty to take part. Can't wait to return in July. 😎

It looked to me as if at the end the slug was getting bolder - it might change behaviour if it gets used to the current. I think it would be a better test to create a two loop electric pen and put slug in centre and see if it escapes - if it stays in centre for ages ( perhaps left unattended ) you know the effectiveness does not die down with time. See other KZread video to get the idea of an "electric pen" search for "Copper Tape Slug Repellent Test" on KZread - guy basically used copper tape to make an enclosure. I am suggesting two concentric copper wire circles - not touching and then connect to battery.
