Those look simple & good!
Thank you. I forgot how to reassemble after a week
I have an Innowave 360.. but your video is vary helpful. Mine has so much calcium build-up that it might take 8 weeks not 8 hours 😂😂😂
I bet you’d sell a lot of units if you made something much smaller in diameter that could be used with metal canteens or water bottles (such as the Grayl).
Great job, keep up the good work, you and this company that makes that product is making the planet earth a better place, respect! Thank you for what you do, and thanks for the video.. quick question if i may, do you have any recommendations for a countertop distiller? For home use? That uses 316 stainless steel? as far as best bang for the buck?
I would like to know what kind of stove you are using.
Great video. Another company made a video of this product but your video answers all questions they did not, and your price is a bit lower for the same product. The size of pots needed, and why you are adding salt to the water weren't addressed by the competitor. Thank you
Sharp edges everywhere. Pass on this unit.
What’s the point of these stupid feet on the 46C? Looks like you should use a nut. While it’s on the stand it’s still loose.
Helpful video however my distiller exploded and blew the heater element as well as my wall socket. How do I put on a new heater element for some reason the element is not working. The wiring is correct. The fan works. The float in the switch are operable. Any ideas as to what else would prevent a new heater element from working? Thanks again for your video
IS THERE AN OVER THE COUNTER DURA SWEET LIKE USING VINEGAR TO CLEAN. IS THERE AN ALTERNATIVE TO DURA SWEET????
How big are the pots? and do they take proone or berkey candle filters?
What is the size of the spout hole in the holding tank? Thank you
One question you say put contaminated water on bottom and cool water on top,can top be dirty water or ocean water as well? Also would carbon steel or cast iron pots work?
Idk. I want to like it. But the reviews on Amazon were not too encouraging. Issues with sealing and plastic taste. Have these issues been fixed? I really need a desalination device as all the water around me is salty.
If there are kinks in this system it seems it’d be easy to work them out. I will say that I just bought a MegaHome water distiller. It works great. But it was pricey. One thing that I really like about this emergency water distiller is that regardless of taste, or perceived taste, it is just what the verbiage says. It is an emergency water distiller. The small town that I live in on occasion sends out a boil water advisory. I live in an area that has had coal mining for over 100 years. No telling what is in the ground. I told my wife that if we bought a water distiller that I would take on the job of keeping our water supply going. And the same water issues that I have in my town are unfortunately in so many other small towns across America, as so many water treatment plants are antiquated, and there is not enough money to just fix the problem. Also, we did not want to buy bottles of drinking water because of the plastic problem we also have in this country. Also, I’m getting too old to be lifting 5 gallon drinking jugs of water. This is unfortunate in that we are not gonna have much of a choice, but to make our own drinking water if you want to know what you’re drinking and at a reasonable cost.
I'm struggling to understand what switches need to be activated to start the distiller. I assume the automatic fill must be off, but should the fan switch also be off? It would be good to add that to the video or make it more explicit in the manual and guide.
Is this setup of 2 pots plus d-stil lite too heavy for a small rocket stove?
Great video. This is exactly what I need.
Good video. A couple reminders for me. Drain the heating tank more often and to sterilize it. Personally cleaner and descaler. I fill the heating tank with hot water add about 7 teaspoons of the descaler and next morning everything is clean and no scale or residue left. I was it a couple times with soap and water rince well and it's good to go. I like to clean it every 2-3 Months. The holding tank I wash it with Soap and water and give it enough rinses Next I was the interior with bleach to kill anything and then rince until there is no taste of bleach then its good for at least 3 years in I'm in the middle of a cleaning now. I guess there are a few ways to do this but whatever works best for you
Thanks!
Great job! Waiting for my durastill 46 to arrive 😊
Excellent information, very clear instructions, great video!!
I noticed that it appears in at least one place you use rubber for a seal. In other places, you appear to use silicone for gaskets and tubing. I have read quite a few reviews complaining about a "rubber hose" taste in the distilled water. Perhaps using only silicone material for all gaskets would eliminate this problem. I will continue to watch this item to see if changes were made to address this issue. As an example, my Instapot uses silicone for a pressure seal in the lid. This holds up to 15psi over ambient pressure without fail and no added foreign taste.
Thats a great point! Silicone is a safe, non toxic option for seals and things like that. I love that idea. I am absolutely in love in love with this distiller (havent bought it yet but it looks amazing). But you're right I think about the silicone!
Thank you, I got a confess. I am not too short or practical but you have helped me a lot., I wish you all the best..
Good day! Excellent video. I was wondering if you have to use the post filter? I am concerned because I avoid plastic tubing and plastic bottled water because plastic leaches and I have a bad reaction to it. Would it be possible to order stainless steel tubing for the water to transfer from the boiling chamber to the storage container? Also, is it possible to get a stainless steel float and faucet? I'd rather no water comes into contact with any plastic at all. Especially after the water has been distilled. I would use a prefilter before distilling. Is there a way to get this distiller on wheels like is set up on model 4640? I am just asking, and understand if you're unable to accommodate the stainless steel stand with wheels. Is this model 4696 still 11 months backorder? Thank you so much for creating this excellent video.
My gosh folks, use a quarter turn valve! So much nicer!
Should have drank some at the end lol
I am going to make a suggestion to dramatically improve your video. Show your 'clean and sterilize' BEFORE you show the 'post filter' installation. You provide instructions for 'post filter' at 7:10 but later show 'clean and sterilize' at 34:00 minutes. It helps idiots like me that installed the plastic tubes and clamps just to have to take them all off again to do the initial steam clean.
If you guys want good marketing, start handing these out to East Palestine Ohio residents
I’ll definitely be ordering one soon 👌🏼
I have been waiting almost a year of my distiller after paying rocky mountain over $2500.00. Always some new excsuse. Beware of these people.
Greetings from Malaysia! Fantastic product. Been using mine since 1999. Still works well.
Citric acid crystal are relatively expensive. Dollar store white/distilled vinegar works just as well.
Yes, you can also use white distilled vinegar. I have another video that shows how to clean with vinegar: kzread.info/dash/bejne/rKh-tsF8cryZf5s.html. It really shines up the inside of the boiling chamber.
Such a helpful video, easy to follow. Really appreciate it 👍
Thank I am happy to have helped you out! - Brandon
my house pressure only goes up to 50lbs, so that pump will never shut off
The Durastill Remote Faucet System pump is gravity fed from the bottom of the stainless steel storage tank to the pump. Then the pump pressurizes the distilled water in the water line from the pump to the faucet. So your home water pressure should not change how this system works. It is completely independent from your home water system. It is a dedicated water line just for distilled water. Thanks - Brandon
how often should it be cleaned?
You should drain your Durastill Water Distiller boiling chamber once a month. Then clean the system every 6 months. - thanks Brandon
Very helpful video
I'm glad this helped you! - Brandon
I was going to get this but there are too many replacement parts to consider.
I understand when you look at the Durastill Owners Manuals and see the Durastill parts list it can seem overwhelming. The most common repair on a Durastill distiller is the float gasket and heating element gasket. These rubber gaskets wear out over time from the constant heating and cooling of the boiling chamber and you should replace them every 5 years. They only cost about $25. Other than that just keep your distiller clean and it should last for years with minimal maintenance! - thanks Brandon
What’s this thing worth
I bought mine for 800 dollars from a place in Minnesota.
Why does the output need a filter if it's pulling from the tank of distilled water?
I assume by "output" you mean pumping the distilled water out of the 80 gallon tank. The Durastill Remote Faucet System, which pumps the distilled water out of the water storage tank to where you need it comes with a standard post-carbon filter on it. It just give you another layer of filtration protection to give you the highest quality distilled water possible. - thanks Brandon
@@RockyMountainWaterDistillers distilled water is the purest one can drink, why would it need any further filtering?
@@honuswagner9348 Correct - and good question that I haven't seen answered aniquately. It seems due to the taste of distilled water.
I followed your instruction on cleaning the boiler. Once I had cleaned the boiling chamber with Still Clean, a white residue was left along the walls of the boiler. This is very difficult to clean off. What should I do?
If you have white residue or mineral buildup that is thicker than a credit card then clean the boiling chamber again. If you use white distilled vinegar it will polish up the boiling chamber and make it look like new again. But the vinegar will stink up the room where you are cleaning the distiller.
2021/2022 update - does NOT come double-boxed anymore, costs way more and has over a month lead time. Video extremely helpful though as the written instructions are VERY basic.
Thanks David. The factory used to double box the distillers because they would ship out the distillers to the dealers and then the dealers would ship them out to the customers. Yeah this is the video I wish I would have had when I setup and installed my Durastill over 20 years ago! I am glad it you liked it. - thanks Brandon
Hello, I Recently left the Distiller on without the fan on for about 3 hours with the Excelon PVC tubing and Filter attached. If said components get hotter than their rated 120 F do they start releasing toxins? should I replace them?
When you left the distiller on without the fan turned on for 3 hours, did you connect the steamer tube and were you steam cleaning the stainless steel water storage tank? If you ran steam through your post carbon filter then it will ruin the filter. If I were you and worried about it, I would just replace the tubing and get a new "Durastill Post Filter with fittings" (the 2 elbow shaped fittings). - thanks Brandon
@@RockyMountainWaterDistillers I already did, and thank you for responding.👍
Sorry but no V--us can be outside the body , because your body is the only thing that creates a Vi-$ and they clean you and detox you when your blood is dirty….they are not contagious and they can not make people sick
My pump is leaking at the nylon bushing and line, any recommendations?
Try re-tighening the connection or you may need a new nylon bushing. Sometimes the delicate threads can get dinged up or they may on be on straight and can leak. - thanks Brandon
if the water is distilled, why do you need a filter?
because fluoride can vaporize and escape the distillation process and reach the other side. So the charcoal filter helps to prevent that.
@@domatic Yes sir, that is what I am asking.
@@AfterTheGame Not being rude, but where are you getting this information, because I cant find it.
@@shawnburke4347 I made more than one point in my comment, specifically what information are you looking for me to clarify?
@@AfterTheGame The part about flouride. My understand (though limited) was that this process gets rid of all this "crap" stuff. 99.9 if I remember right, will have to double check that. Google says: Distillation can remove nearly all impurities from water. Compounds removed include sodium, hardness compounds such as calcium and magnesium, other dissolved solids (including iron and manganese), fluoride, and nitrate. So I am lost man.
Makasa Lushima Fabrice il y a 1 seconde HI IM AKASA I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ALL PART NUMBERS OF THE NEW WATER DISTILER PLEASE
You can find the part numbers in the Durastill 30J4 Owners manual: Go to the bottom of the page: rockymountainwaterdistillers.com/products/durastill-30j4-countertop-water-distiller-made-in-usa
Hey there, what distiller would you recommend that gets 0 ppm and produces 2-5 gallons a day? My budget is about $500-$700. Any tips? Best
My first water distiller in college was the Durastill 30H Manual Fill Water Distiller. I needed something to fit my college budget but was the best value for my money (price and quality). I wanted to buy a water distiller that could last up to 30 years: rockymountainwaterdistillers.com/products/durastill-30h-water-distiller It is the most economical way to get started with a commercial-grade quality distiller. I then upgraded to an automatic Durastill system a few years later. A Durastill 30H can be easily upgraded to an automatic distiller with the "automatic fill kit". Right now it costs $829, so that might we too expensive for you right now. I know some of the cheaper distillers only last one or two years and then die. Whatever you do don't buy a water distiller from China. They are not safe and are very low quality.
Curious, why do you need a filter on distilled water?
Great question. You need a post-carbon filter to remove what can distill across during steam distillation. For example: chlorine has a lower boiling point than water and it can distill across. So a VOC vent will remove some of the chlorine but the majority must be filtered out with a carbon filter. Steam distillation + a VOC vent + post carbon filter will remove the maximum amount of virus, bacteria, toxins, poisons, chemicals, etc. from your tap water or source water. That is why we recommend you use a Durastill Post filter or the post filter that comes in the Remote Faucet System pump to provide the purest and cleanest water possible. For more information watch "The Journey of Water" : rockymountainwaterdistillers.com/pages/benefits-of-distilled-water-vs-tap-water.
not necessary. IMO. those inline filters will be a nuisance IMO
Great video. I have found draining by drain valve is a hassle because it clogs almost instantly and re clogs easily even after running wire up both inlet and outlet. I now use a wet/dry vac to suction out water from boiling chamber. This is fast and and hassle free.
Patrick, Awesome tip! Yeah there is some really dirty water out there and it really can building in the boiling chamber. It's crazy to think that you would have drunk all the junk and filth in your source water that is now in the boiling chamber. I love the peace of mind using a distiller to purify my water. Thanks for sharing! - Brandon
