Great video! Glad to see you in the 777 again. It is one of my favorite planes to fly in flight sim. Still dink with the PMDG for FSX, but now it is the FS2020 hanger---soon to be an addition. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Father Time----been catching up on the videos. The TFDi MD-11 looks pretty good. I used to play around with the PMDG MD 11 version for FSX and FS2004; I still see a fair amount of fly over the house as I live near a Fed EX hub--they still have a use in the cargo world I guess. Though I am curious ..is it an easy plane to fly? Complicated? I have heard the FMS and the way you fly it is somewhat like both the Airbus and Boeing, but certainly only know via the PMDG version and not from the real world. Seems to be the plane that was not fully automated like a 777, and had some workload for the pilot to do. Great video. I do like the focus you have on Europe airports as of late as I have been through many of them in real life. Enjoy your videos. Thanks so much for doing them....FS and the flights give me the great escape from life ;)

Very informative video! I've learned a lot from it. It takes braveness and professionalism to fly in such adverse weather. We had a huge ice and sleet storm lasting for nearly 10 days this winter, earlier in 2024. The airport was paralyzed and closed for 3 days. Not only the airplanes, but also the runways were covered with frozen rain that quickly turned into icy conditions. For the first day, after waiting for more than 8 hours on the aircraft, pilots, flight attendants and passengers had to be deplaned and airlines cancelled most of the flights. Sometimes powerless to do much about the chaos.

Hi Captain, thanks for the video! You do not select 500ft in the ALT window on an RNAV APPR, if you entered the correct value in the FMS (minProf), you should be able to select the min ALT in the ALT window (i.e. 497ft- it will turn magenta then)- why did you choose the CAT C Minimum and not the CAT D? As far as I remember: on a Non Prec Appr, you select the GA ALT only AFTER executing a GA- that makes it very tricky, in case you forget to do, the plane will not climb, it might descend when AP is selected on. Today Fabio tells me that he doesnt have the issue. I said its either known or it isnt. Back and forth….finally I said “well, I guess Im not waiting for a fix, so I will give the plane away”. They then proceeded to tell me it was against their rules etc. Im tired of devs like this. Release an $80 beta, then dismiss the issues its clearly having. It isnt any better, or more reliable, than the E-Jet series, and yet we were charged a high price by a company with an attitude. Im done. Will just stick with companies like Fenix and iniBuilds

Love the MD80. I'm Swedish and a early childhood memory i have is "The miracle at Gottröra" crash that happened at Stockholm Arlanda airport in the 90´s. It was in cold december and they missed to remove all ice during de-icing, and both engines got FOD:ed with ice during takeoff. Lost all thrust and crashed in the forest just outside the airport, broke up in 3 pieces but everyone survived which is crazy and such a miracle. They all went to a nearby farmhouse and woke up the farmer there.. Must have been a sight to wake up seeing a plane in your backyard with people everywhere.

If you wanna put your mins without a hassle do it thru the CDU, turn on EFIS control and select minimum and just type it in then turn it back off. Also for lights theres a click spot right above them if you click that it will turn on or off all 3 lights at once or above runway turn off lights would turn both those lights on or off. Happy landings captain🤘🏻👌🏻

Great insights! Can't beat real world experience. Love that quote "knees and nuts clear" so appropriate when you think about it. Obviously changed slightly with a female F/O lol

@@samarmstrong5543 yes, the dialogue absolutely changes a tad when there’s a woman in our presence. That goes for life as well. Call me Old Fashioned lol. I try to keep my presentations inoffensive, but every now and then I let the high school side of me “creep” through!!!

Hi Jeff, thank you for that video. Your explanation of setting up the box for the approach and explaining the Nav display was great. I never realised you had to wait until clearing the last fix before setting the missed approach altitude. I;ve always just hit TOGA and take the wild ride until I figure out how to stop it climbing like a rocket........It's fun but not really realistic my way. All the very best Dave.

@@FatherTime1958 Yes I remember that. Funny I thought it was really cool that a professional pilot, you hadn't retired then, was willing to mess about flying to my local airstrip to try something. I think that's why I like following your channel, because you love to pass on all of your vast knowledge and experience gained over many years to us amateur simmers so we can all enjoy the experience together. I think deep down you like to see us all succeed, like our mentor or something. Not sure where all that came from........but I love your content.

@@FatherTime1958 Yeah I think it is really great that in this hobby professionals and amateurs can happily mix along together in order to enjoy something many of us will never get to do in real life, and our sims are the nearest thing to it.

do you usually leave the APU on during cruise? I skipped around in the video so maybe missed u addressing it

I had a generator failure enroute (FSiPanel programmed a surprise for me), so the APU was running per procedure. Thanks for the heads-up, I always appreciate people taking time to comment.

New subscriber here. Great video. I'm not a pilot, but have been simming since FSX days and fly on BA and Air Canada 777s a few times a year from LHR to YYZ. Nice to hear a real type rated pilot's perspective and see how you run things. What was the ATC addon you had running here? Say Intentions? And what was that scenario thing? I've not seen that before. Sorry if you mentioned it in the video, I must've missed it.

I laughed so hard when you talked about the airbus. "I tend not to get involved with it." That also sums up my thoughts on it. I was curious about the A300 from ini though. I've heard good things and some minor bad ones too. Looks beautiful, possibly more of a looker than a flyer. EDIT: Later in the video you confirmed some of what I had already suspected about the 300-600 from Ini. Not surprised it didn't take kindly to this approach, I'm sure it's great for some folks and what they fly. Love the TFDi so far. It is amazing.
