I have been waiting so long for the PMDG 777 and the TFDi MD-11 to make it to MSFS. I flew the PMDG 777 a lor on P3D, and I am part of the TFDi Quality Assurance team, so my dreams are coming true! Both of these airplanes are incredible, and both are "buy now" add-ons in my opinion.
I went over to P3D for the PMDG 777 as I was a real 777 Captain, and flying several aircraft on MSFS was affecting my job performance. On the other hand, flying the 777 on P3D actually helped me at work. No rap on P3D, as I really loved the honesty and performance accuracy of the study level PMDG 777. However, I am trying to build a following, and MSFS is by far the most followed.
I am a 1958 vintage pilot with over 21,000 flight hours. I currently reside in Connecticut. I am a 1980 US Air Force Academy graduate and a seven-year Air Force instructor pilot. I have flown for a major US Airline since 1987 and I retired in September of 2023. I have been type-rated in the MD-80, B-737, B-757, B-767, B-777, A-300-600 and the MD-11. I am a recently retired (9/6/23) 777 Captain.
I have traveled the world and I have come to the conclusion that there is no place like home. It's been a great ride. I am very new to the MSFS and P3D world and I love it. Please feel welcome to offer any advice that you deem helpful.

However, I did manage to dig up this statement: "In a VNAV descent after the T/D, VNAV PTH changes to VNAV SPD during speed intervention. In all other phases, the pitch mode does not change with speed intervention." You know far more about the aircraft than I do, but to me that would seem to indicate that during a descent, opening the speed window kicks it into VNAV SPD, and it may not want to go back into VNAV PTH until the speed window is closed (later in the video you have the speed window closed and VNAV PTH is once again active).

It wont go into vnav path cuz you had the speed window open. Once the vdev scale centers u have to give the speed control back to the plane otherwise it will prioritize speed over path. I believe it does it even in a geometric segment of the descent, essentially whenever you speed intervene you d be in vnav speed. In 787 logic is changed, once the vdev scale centers it will capture the vnavpath, regardless of if u were speed intervening or not in anoher word plane always prioritizes the path.

I heard there is a sound mod for the PMDG 777. Something we shouldn’t have to install on an aircraft of this calibre.

@Stringbean421 very true. I’m sure PMDG is already on this issue.

I know. I have a Boston scenery pack. I should get rid of it.

Difficulty holding center line on take off, difficulty aligning landing, this sim is flawed. Obviously not the pilot or the aircraft, it’s the sim. See this time and time again even with experienced pilot videos. Not sure why more folks don’t call out the sims flaws.

That was a terrible landing for someone that claims to be a real 777 pilot. Very rough and way over centre line. Thank goodness you’re retired.😉

Thank you, my former co-pilots are relieved too! Thanks for taking the time to make that lovely comment.
