Hey, I'm Ben 👋🏻 A 2 x Founder and Former Forbes 30u30 Entrepreneur who's been building businesses for 10+ years.

On this channel, I provide the best possible advice for companies, businesses, careers, work and jobs. And I do that by creating content around three core principles that I believe in:

1. Making money the right way
2. Calling out toxic companies and bosses
3. Supporting common sense in the workplace

It sometimes feels like the world is out to get you; from first jobs, to pay rises, to bosses, school, to college, to ridiculous job applications, to incredibly unfair working cultures. It gets pretty overwhelming.

My aim is to make it all a little bit easier.

If that sounds interesting, then hit subscribe and I’ll see you in the next video.

I didn't actually think this was going to continue, and in that exact way. I was joking - i didn't expect the manager to *actually* be walking right into that.

I work at a university and IT had just run a system upgrade on a test system which reactivated the notification emails (that are only supposed to run from the live system). I set up a test record in the system and promptly received an email from the Director of Planning asking whether I was seriously proposing the creation of a Master of Arts in Basketweaving 🙃

Why do these managers not put this in the calendar or look at it.

To the toilet, my work had tried to tell us we were only allowed to use the bathroom on our lunch break. So people started submitting doctors notes to HR saying it’s a health reason to go when they need. The management came back saying “you are not allowed to submit doctors notes to HR” anymore. Everyone just lost respect for the management and just ignored them from then on.

"You should have messaged me." What is the point of messaging this guy? He doesn't review the schedule. He doesn't look at the calendar. He doesn't read his email. WHY THE HELL SHOULD ANYONE ASSUME HE WILL CHECK HIS BLOODY MESSAGES??

And then they question why no one is having children… excuse me ma’am, did you take a mortgage out on your home?? If yes, then you bought something that you couldn’t afford and so did your entire generation.. it was called “living” and now it’s called “national debt”, and you won’t pay it…. This generation is doing exactly what it was told and the crows are coming to roost. Tell your grandchildren how hard you worked.. oh wait.

I had something like this with a boss. I asked him for confirmation of something as wasn't sure, he said yes that is what to do. I then got called into a meeting for doing it wrong and when I said I had checked with him I got told well you obviously asked at a time when I was busy and not really listening.....and it was still my fault

my favorite is when a person calls in sick and must find a replacement to work their shift... I understand the need to have someone there, but do you really want them there if they are red-nosed, sneazing, and so on when in customer relations?

One of my close friends shot himself in 2017, and I had taken the call while on shift at work. I explained to my boss I needed to leave as I was a mess after that call, she proceeded to tell me "this is why we don't answer the phone at work." I was able to leave, unfortunately didn't stand up for myself to her.

I had a nightmare boss once who finally realized I had too much work (in her words I had an overly filled platter, not a plate) so I trained a colleague to take 30% of my work. Five months later she then said I wasn't working enough with what they were paying me. 14 years I had the best reviews and all of a sudden this? She was a frof in a frying pan not knowing where to jump most of the time. I devided to quit, then she wanted me to finish out the quarter for year end balancing. Good lord, I couldn't run fast enough out of there

Fine have to do it then. What a response is he trying to guilt him for daring having a life away from the company. Everything the boss said was trying to put fault on employee. Him signing of on holiday, how is he to remember that, when it’s his job to know. You should have said just before, he did the handover and email everyone. Plus how is it their fault he doesn’t read emails, what’s the Point of having a work email if he not going to bother with it

Wow, the first moment I'd hear a bell for lunch break would be my first cue to start looking for another job, lol ! Obviously, I'm thinking of this in the context of an office or something similar. I believe that a manufacturing job I once worked at in the late 70s did have a bell, and that was okay, because it was a somewhat noisy place, compared to an office or lab work places etc.

Screenshots of the texts and send them to the boss' boss with a note statingthat any more interupptions by the boss will result in the employee getting holiday pay and additional PTO time. Employee's boss is an idiot.
