This Boss Tries to BAN his Employees from being FRIENDS.

Ойын-сауық

This lady's favourite line manager left her company because of extreme tensions with the managing director and when she later met up with him, her manager SNAPPED.
Threatening to withhold promotions and payrises to his staff, and even trying to force the ex-employee's long-time friend to stop seeing him entirely, makes this one of the pettiest bosses I've ever been told about.

I do not understand the management mentality. And then wonder about turnover and poor performance. I said something at a useless meeting. And I received deer in the headlights. I got up and left. And management was shocked that I could do such a thing. Really? Told them I don't have time to waste. We had to bill for every minute of the day. There are some genuine really honest establishments (church, synagogue, temple or similar house of worship), that are altruistic. But it is like playing "needle in a haystack." Sometimes I visit a house of worship. Thinking I could find a place that was OK. One place it was a potluck after service, yes I made several dishes to contribute, and had a little chat, with the Pastor and he inquired why I do not attend more often and join. Just at that very moment a few women were in a scuffle about the food and gossiping like high school girls. And I said, look at those women. I graduated from high school over 50 years ago. So long as I'm not advertising my business, I can post whatever the hell I want on social media. Now, if you deal with company secrets, then watching your social media makes sense to ensure you aren't sneaking data to the public or otherwise doing things that are abnormal or suspicious. This reminds me of a situation I had at an old employer. I was friends with the CEO’s admin but the CEO hated her and finally had the HR director fire the admin. They hired a replacement and the CEO made me buy “welcome flowers” for the new admin. I was happy to do it although it was supposed to be a message (warning) to me. Then the CEO had 4 different HR and other executives warn me that I’d better be helpful to the new lady. I finally blew up when my boss started telling me the same thing. I told him I was a professional and just because I was friends with the previous person that would in no way affect how I treated the new person. I asked him, “with what you know about me, what has ever led you to believe I’d be an asshole to the new person?” I knew he had reluctantly talked to me and was forced to do so. Come to find out, the is new person they hired to “fix” everything was as dumb as a rock and couldn’t even schedule appointments or send emails. She was a dumpster fire but the CEO kept her to save her own face. The new admin also threw all of the other of us exec admins under the bus at different times so everyone hated her. An HR person told me not to associate with her but I responded that they had no say in what I did on my own time or who I spent time with as long as I remained ethical about company information. TBH we never wanted to talk about company things anyway. I’m still friends with her to this day.

Went to rrom next door where my boss lives. Told her what I was doing with the class. She said "Brilliant idea" Later she refunded my receipt. Class had a great day. Did lots of work. Then trhanked me. I said no problem, I just got refunded. They all laughed. BTW I do this at every college// university I work at. I don't always get refunded. But it's ten minutes pay.

My last full-time workplace was similarly very sour apples about ex-employees who (rightfully) left for better opportunities and didn't sugarcoat the fact that their new positions were a step up. Because it's a bad reflection of the company to lose good employees, and rather than sit with the self-awareness and improve, the easier option is to villify those who left and badmouth them. It's quite sad when you think about it.

If there are 4-5 folks who all got this message, document it, take it to HR, and prepare to hire an employment rights / labor lawyer. ESPECIALLY THE DATA BREACH regarding your personal phone number!!!
