This is the most advanced and physically close to reality project with scale engines. I'm looking forward to the day of the shakedown. To be honest, it would be cool to run on a track long enough.

Recommendation... After you are done building the body, I would make a silicone mold of it. Then, I would fill the silicone mold with plaster of Paris to make a "solid block form" of your car. The solid block will now become a mold for vacuum forming a lightweight lexan body that you could sell to people like me and others.

  • @7badtothebone

I’ve always wanted to go forth with this but I am unfamiliar with forming lexan/vacuum form. Is it a simpler than I think

To make those short filaments straighter, you can heat up your bed, then roll them under your finger until they straighten out. Makes it easier to slide both parts together if those are fairly straight.

I got the size of rice greens and the link for the three speed gearbox is not there among other things. The links have not been updated in two months, so it’s no longer up-to-date with the videos which is my main issue

AWESOME MAN!!! I finally got my 1/32 scale Nascar slotcar body to print properly and beautifully, from following this video, and making a couple of tweaks to the settings because the newer version of Cura is a bit different now. Now I just have to adjust the thickness of them to about half of 1.2mm, because that's too think for slot cars or even models of that size. Well, for models it doesn't really matter, as they are fine if they weigh a bit more... I was also using Blender, and had problems with the models after bringing them into Cura, so another video helped me fix those issues easily by grabbing 3D Builder from MS for free, which when you bring the STL in, it tells you there are problems and it auto fixes them with the click of a button. The only downfall was, it's auto fix also created a bottom to the body, but there was a simple "Hollow" button as well that then asks how thick you want your walls, which is where I assumed 1.2mm, but that's best for larger scale RC cars than it is for 1/32 scale slot cars. Oh well, trial and error... Thanks again for the awesome videos and going over your Cura settings here, it's helped me immensely!!!

I use wood filler on 3d prints sometimes. Not sure if that would be cheaper than body filler or not, but it's an option. Could probably use any glue that's sandable though I guess. Great video man!

Would this work for 24 or 32 scale bodies as well, or would they be too small for this style of printing? I've seen the smaller ones printed with resin printers, but none with filament printers like you are doing unfortunately. Not much on the YTube discussing them either, so I was hoping you would have some experience and knowledge about this? Also, thank you for the videos, they are AWESOME!!!

i doubt it i think his main focus is to just make the thing drive and drive good and reliably because you know its 3d printed and its also supposed to look like a supra i hope he does do something like that though id love to see a body made from him thats super short and long like a dragster made for going fast

  • @slsamg_5thscale

Cool build! I personally apply Epoxy on the 3d prints so that the layers are even less visible. On the other hand it is much harder to sand down later.
