Top 5 classic Mopars you can still afford to buy and drive. Bonus if 4 of the 5 are not A bodies. AMC and Jeed would also be acceptable. Top 5 mods to make your classic Mopar a better daily driver. Side note: I really want to replace my winter beater Imprezza with an AMC Eagle.

YOu made me sad a bit about the '71 Challenger tail panel. Every one I've seen at a swap meet has been in two pieces, usually broken apart rather than cleanly separated. Mine is well weathered but complete, but unless a nice shiny complete one shows up at a swap meet I'm going to have to refurb it. Looking forward to the most expensive/best value video... when I started buying still available parts from the dealer back in the early '80s maybe I managed to win a little lottery ticket (probably not though) ;)

I've found that 1 year only, really drives up the price. My '57 D100, is basically unchanged from previous models. But the front clip is '57 specific. Decent front trim and headlight buckets hard to find. I've had this truck since the early 80's, and Ive been told the wrap around rear window is hard to replace. "80 Powerwagon grill. Quad headlights. Mine has a bad crease on the drivers side. And snap on buttons for an old style weather front. I picked up a '76-'78 in very good condition for a $100. Quad headlamp they want $800 or more.

That is pretty crazy. Seems like a bit much, but you have to ask yourself, how many of these cars survived out there with this kind of mileage? There can't be that many, if any others at all, especially in this original condition.

Good rant! I was drawn to that episode because it was about an early Barracuda and was totaly shocked when they broke the window (not) the two most common comments I get when I,m out with my 66 are about the value of the back window and if it has the optional hemi. When I took my car apart to restore I was amazed at the weight of that window.

I know you're a Mopar guy. But would you say this rear window in the 64 to 66 Barracuda is tied for the largest rear window with the 1971 through 1973 Buick Riviera boat tail. People were trying to say the rear windows on the Buick Riviera's from 71 to 73 were expensive too

  • @rocketresto

I've got a '66 Barracuda Formula S and have not one, not two, but three spare rear windows and I don't believe you, Tom. I know I'm sitting on a goldmine in the corner of the garage......... Just a matter of time, mark my words. 50, 100 years from now my great, great grandkids will cash in. On a serious note, two windows came with the car, the third window came from a new neighbor who had one in his back yard (came with the house) and he gave it to me. Yes, gave. Apparently he didn't know the goldmine he was sitting on.

I saw that junk yard episode where the two idiots put the Barracuda back window on a couple metal welding horses and then bumped it.... down it came shattered. They found another in another junkyard and the guy wanted $5000 for the whole car and wouldn't just sell the window. And, he kept threatening to smash it. Later I looked on epay and there were several for around $300.

When they do break they explode like a 12 gauge shotgun shell. I side hit a telephone pole right in front of the rear wheel doing 30-40 ish and the window blew into little squares that they spent a while at the emergency room picking some of the pieces out of my back that went through my tee shirt. Nothing to serious just broke the skin but I have never forgot that one.

Tv is horseshit. Reality TV is a cancer on low IQ types. NOTHING reality about 'reality' tv. Unfortunately, many people base their concept of the world in general by what crap they see on tv. Classic cars as a hobby have been utterly ruined by this type of made up nonsense. I Have a '69 barracuda and I currently have 3 back windows because I've always been led to believe how rare they are. (luckily I got 2 of em for basically nothing.) "we're going to lose the shop if we don't get this done!" = fake, manufactured drama because building cars is actually pretty damn boring. You are right bud. It's all bunk for dramatic effect. BUT it has influenced in a bad way the real car market. The absolute worst culprits in the past were gas monkey and counting cars. Or those shows where they spray dust and wood chips over a nice car and pretend to find it like that 'lost in a barn for 50 years' with strangely fully inflated 6 month old tires on it and a charged battery. this type of thinking is why a rusted out husk in a field with trees growing through the floors is 15 grand now. so stupid. good on you for calling it like it is. cheers.
