This reminds me of A Christmas Romance (1994)
I've not seen the film so will have to take a look :-)
This reminded me of A Christmas Romance (1994)
Hi there Violette - It's not a film I've watched. But you have me Intrigued so I'll go and find it 🙂
Tiree looks like a great place that I would enjoy visiting. I live in the US, and so I cannot just do it as a weekend vacation. I hope you get to remain on the island, but if not, then I hope you at least find a place to keep caring for the sheep.
A hard lesson for me has been the unexpected turns in life, when plans fall apart. It does not matter how much you beat you head against a wall, trying to break through. Sometimes you just need to accept it and find another path. That does not mean the original plan is completely gone, although it may take a different shape that cannot be seen yet. This is something I am still learning. I do not know myself how things will turn out or what will be salvaged from the original plan..
I feel it's all about accepting change and going with the flow. Focus on the change not trying to fight it.
Yes, I have learned to accept the unexpected twists and turns in life.
As I watched this, I was reminded of John 10:14 - "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep and am known by My own." The love you showed for them individually brought a smile to my face.
The way the sheep ask for attention reminds me of how my cat asks for rubs. She can be persistent, sometimes even annoying, when she wants love, but she is sweet.
Hope that you both find somewhere lovely for you both and your adorable sheep xx
I now understand your two channels. My own fault, I discovered your other channel first. You are such lovely, caring people and love your outlook on life 👌
So glad that you decided to continue your channel, thank you💯👏👌 Share your island life experiences and thank you for taking the time to do this 👍
Outstanding cinematography. Clearly you’re both very creative people. Coupled with the ability to blend perfect music with your vids. 👏👏👍
Super kind of you to say. it's really appreciated.
Orkney is lovely. I would save money on the pod and stretch out on the bar settees, much more comfortable if you want to turn over when you kip.
Love the heads up on the bar settees awesome advice :-) Thanks
Cheers from NZ.Love watching you guys and your lovely animals.I wish you all the very best,in finding a place for you all.
We take the approach: try, try and try again until we make it happen, wherever that takes us and the flock
hi wish you well in your journey ,youve had a taste, of a better simple life without the chaos of normal living, in uk ie south of the border, alot of opportunities usually cheaper on the islands but i wouldn't rule out mainland advantages and disadvantages both ways but remote enough less populated which is more chilling which im sure is the whole point ,look forward to seeing the island and what it can offer cheers sam
Cheers Sam very sound advice. most appreciated. Hope you enjoy the next instalment. Hope to have it uploaded Wednesday. Have a great week.

We try our best. Every Vlog is part of the learning curve. Thanks so much for the positive feedback it really does help. :-)
Good luck guys! Can't wait to see what happens.
Update on the way :-)
Don't worry about not vlogging. You have enough to deal with finding a home for you two and the lambs/sheep. Your 2.5K subscribers will stick with you. I will anyway. Good luck!
Thanks you so much I really does mean a lot to us. :-)
I'm rooting for you. Hopefully, you'll find your forever homestead!

Hi Alicia thanks for your thoughts and prayers they are apprciated. Welcome on this journey with us.
I just came across your channel and I have liked and subscribed etc as if you are prepared to move home if that's what it takes to keep your sheep family safe then you are definitely my kind of people! You are living my dream actually! I do hope you find somewhere! Also, it was 24 degrees C here in Cumbria today, far too hot, so it was exciting to see some snow! I would love to move further North!
Hi there Misty. Thanks sooooo much for liking and following, its massively appreciated. Thanks for joining us on this crazy journey. 24C That’s too hot for me :-). Have a lovely weekend in the Cumbrian Bahamas :-)
I've just come across your channel and have subscribed, hit the like button and did all the random stuff:D Good luck with the next adventure!
You’re awesome. Hope you enjoy the rest of this mad and completely unplanned adventure :-)
Good Luck folks. Can i ask are you looking to buy or rent, Im west of Fort William and could keep my eyes and ears open.
That is super kind of you thanks. Buying is our option to gain some security and no more unplanned moving :-)
There is no doubt that the anthropomorphisisation of domestic animals brings a whole new set of challenges - that is why farmers, herders, crofters, etc, the world over have seldom (if at all) gone down that route and still don't do it today.
That's interesting point of view. Most farmers and crofters we know in Scotland have and do on a regular basis anthropomorphise, be that sheep, cattle, pigs, chickens, ducks and a myriad of other animals for any number of reasons. It may not be the case for all of their livestock but we have seen it absolutely take place on a regular basis. Yes it may make it hard for them to send that animal into the food chain but that does not stop it happening. The farmers we know really care for their livestock even if they don't give them names. So on your point we will have to disagree. We can introduce you to Lugs if you like, a sheep on a very large cattle and sheep farm, as well as countless others on the same farm. Farmers are human like all of us, they just do a hard and emotionally challenging job that feeds all sorts of people in many different ways. Please don't make them out to be uncaring and numb. It's been our experience they are in fact the absolute opposite, they just don't publicise it.
Hi Jason and Yvonne, I’m so sorry you are through this, I know how much you love your little flock. 🐑 Something will work out because it has to!! Sending positive vibes your way. Please keep us updated 🐑❤️
Hi Sue. Thanks for the lovely thoughts and kind words. I completely agree there is always a silver lining.
So loving, so honorable...really uplifting that you care for these innocents the way you do. Thank you. You are leading the way into balance and compassion...and wisdom.
Thanks for the kind words :-)
Is it they dont like long term animals on the island or they dont like English people Good luck for the future
It’s impossible for me to understand WHY folks won’t let you keep your sheep on “their land” Good gawd y’all, it’s nothing but scrub and bog. WHAT are they doing with the land that is so important - that they can’t let a few sheep wander around on it? Fairly certain the flock of condos, the huge shopping malls, and the suburban tract houses - are NOT being built there anytime soon. People. Smh.
It's reinforced how committed we are to our little flock, woolly hats and just being a little different. Jane thanks so much for the support it's really appreciated 🙂
You do realise the concept of the grazing being a valuable asset in its own right? If one set of sheep are eating the grazing another set cannot. Over there in Yankeedoodledawdleland you have morons shooting people for daring to walk onto their property. Tiree is a tiny island with very limited amounts of land for people to farm. What farmland there is is in great demand. The people who live there depend on getting as much as they can from every source to survive financially. Most of the permanent residents have several jobs. If they cannot survive financially they will be forced to sell up to the incomers and lose the land their families have had for generations. Holiday home purchases have artificially driven the price of property there sky high. people who sell a small flat in the south of England can buy huge properties in the Hebrides on the proceeds. Stick to what you Americans do best, collecting assault weapons and electing fascists.
Im having similar issues in Lewis; they wont sell me enough common grazing for a polycrub despite there being a massive clump of knotweed on the common grazing (which isnt being used) that will spread across my boundary soon. Its impossible to understand why they feel its excessive and why they wont do anything about the knotweed. Im also looking to move- Im looking at Ireland; very difficult to find the money to move (been here 30 years).
@@Heligany I thinking land has always been a challenging issue, one that may be more pronounced in Scotland especially when Crofting is added into the mix. Historically globally land and land access is the thing that divides people 😞
What a kind thing you are doing for those sweet creatures. I hope something wonderful turns up.
They are such a big part of our lives. The flock really are part of the family and have defined who we've become. They have impacted out lives so positively in so many ways. They really do mean the world to us. It's been a very hard video to pull together and has taken much longer than usual to publish. But the next part of the journey is well under way. I hope to have the next step in this life changing journey up next week.
Really hope you’re able to find something!
Thanks Ash. There is always a solution. Sometimes it just means risking everything - again! Going all in to make things happen.
Hoping all goes well for you and you find your perfect home. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I hope you enjoy coming along on the next journey with us. Our thinking is "Everything Happens For A Reason" :-) Thanks for the support and lovely thoughts.
Whatever happens, you have a fantastic time to look back to. What a good life you made for yourselves on the island! The only thing you can be sure of in life is that everything changes. Another thing to keep in mind is that at every change, things always get worse before they can be better. Now is a transitional time for you and the animals, and it's understandably hard and stressful. You have made up your minds about leaving though, which was probably the hardest part of it all. I am a Quaker Friend, and I will "hold you in the light" as is our habit when someone is in need of help or support. I am convinced that you will find a satisfying solution, but maybe not in the way you expected.
Hi and a big thank you. It's important to us that we take our responsibility to our little flock seriously. They are the reason we've been able to make woolly hats for people all around the world and they have put smiles on our faces everyday for over 4 years. They are the reason we started making little KZread videos. They really have defined who we've become. None of the last few years have been part of a plan we've just taken each day as it comes. :-)
@@SimpleLifeScotland Maybe being a professional "KZreadr" is part of the solution? You are good at it- it is just a question of having enough subscribers and likes. Not an easy task, I guess.
@@upstream1942 Hi Berit, that maybe a good idea. It's not something I've ever thought I could do but maybe you are right. Love to read more of your thoughts on that idea. :-)
Here are some more thoughts: A very popular kind of youtubers are people who buy an old derelict abandoned stonehouse on a property in Portugal, Italy or France, where they are still cheap. They renovate the buildings, plant fruit trees and grow kitchen gardens, make chickencoops and buy chickens while videofilming it all from the very start. They publish a weakly video, usually on the same weekday (to make it a routine for the followers), to let KZread viewers follow the progress through failures and success. The regularity is of utmost importance. You can't leave the subscribers more than a week, without risking that they forget you. If you need a two week vacation, or if there is an emergency of some kind, you have to announce your absence beforehand on your channel. The subscribers expect at least a video a week. The renovation in itself is already hard work, but producing the weekly videos is also very time consuming. To make money you need many subscribers and likes. After some time these youtubers, if interesting enough, can have 50 000 or in some cases 500 000 subscribers. When the number of viewers is high enough, companies contact the youtubers and pay them for promoting their products in the videos. Most youtubers are very careful and choose only the products that they sympathize with. You can clearly see in their videos at which point the money starts rolling in, because suddenly the youtubers can buy expensive building tools and machinery, and replace their old wreck of a vehicle with a new car.. They often start hiring local people to do some of the work too. Investing in a camera drone is good use of the money, especially if you are in a beautiful area. If this kind of business is to be more than temporary, you have to come up with new projects to keep it going. When the house restoration is nearly complete, you have to tell the viewers of your next build, or the renovation of an outhouse: a small brewery, a building for the woolly hat production, a bigger chickencoop, better housing for the sheep for the winter, a garage for the car(s). The viewers must be kept in a leash :) It is important to remind the viewers during the first half of each video "If you like this video, please subscribe and give it a thumbs up!" for the KZread algorithms to move their videos upwards in the popularity race, and thereby attract even more subscribers and likes (and more money). Personally I think you have the necessary karisma to succeed as a youtuber, should you choose that career. Just remember to smile and look happy at least once in every video:) I would certainly subscribe to the videos of a house renovation and development of a sheep farm in Scotland. I believe there are still a fair amount of old abandoned stone cottages there. The making of one of your beanies, all the way from a sheep to a head, would also be interesting to watch, and it could increase the sale. Never underestimate the pleasure in watching other people work... Here are the links to three of my favourite "renovation youtubers". If you watch them, you can see how they are presenting things. Sometimes they linger too long on a passage (it gets boring), sometimes you want more details. In my opinion Martijn Doolard has the perfect approach. @@upstream1942 You're awesome. Thanks for the amazing help and guidance it's really appreciated :-)
Hi everyone. So very sorry that you're facing this new challenge and praying the perfect solution comes your way 🙏. God bless you for not giving up on your beautiful little woolley clan ❤. Seeing them so happy, safe and free is truly wonderful. The clip of all the sheep and chickens following you brought tears to my eyes. I haven't touched animal products since the age of 7 (a very long time ago 😵💫) when I realised with profound shock what meat really is. Its my dream that all animals can live freely, safely and in peace like your little family ❤❤❤. Sending you all our love, thoughts and prayers. Please keep strong. The perfect answer will come 🦋🌻🦋 xx
Hi Ellie thanks for your kind thoughts, words and support we really do appreciate them. And thanks for coming on the journey with us. You have a lovely day.
Just found your channel! How wonderful I can't wait to follow along. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
Hi Jess. I've just hit the upload button on the latest video. It should go live in the next 3 hours - slow internet connection :-) I hope you enjoy the other videos in the mean time. Also if you've not watched our journey across Scotland video - when you do Sorry for the poor sound quality it was one of those where everything went wrong.
We were wondering, the sheep live in a field of grass, but they wait for you to feed them grass. What's in the bag of grass you feed them?
Although the sheep live in the grass field we also give them hay (Dried Grass) in the winter. The hay is to ensure they have all the energy they need to stay healthy and happy.
Great production effort on your videos. Really enjoyed it 👍🏻
Thanks Nick. Really appreciate the positive feedback. We've not posted in a while but should be uploading the next one over the weekend, Monday at the latest. Hope you enjoy the rest. Cheers
Just beautiful...💕
Thanks you :-)
So glad to see you're doing more videos... 😊🦋
It's been a bit crazy busy so I've not been able to make as many as I would like but there are more on the way :-)
I love ❤️ your videos, the only thing I don’t like on any KZread video is background music when people are talking but I really enjoyed your fast pan of amazing places and I love your sheep and would really like to see more of the making of the wool and the hats, have a lovely Easter 🐣 and all the best to you guys
Hi and thanks we appreciate you giving your time to watch our little channel. Also thanks for the feedback and ideas for future posts. We've not been posting regularly but it's been a crazy busy few months. We're working on the next vlog and hope to upload it soon. Have a lovely Easter.
And then nothing for 5 months, you both ok ?
All good Simon. We been crazy busy which has not left us much time to edit the next KZread Video. However, it is on the way. It's been crazy busy in an exciting way and we look forward to sharing with everyone very soon. Thanks for checking in to make sure we're OK it's appreciated.
@@SimpleLifeScotland Pleased you are both ok x

Hi Sam. Thanks for taking the time to watch our video, it's most appreciated. The islands are a great place to move at any stage in life. From our experience all I can say is, go for it.
Hi Jason and Yvonne, have you ever thought of creating a calendar with your beautiful sheep modelling your woolly hats 🥰. I would certainly buy it ❤.
Hi Ellie. That's an awesome idea and certainly something I'm goring to take a look at :-)

Just come across your channel, this is the second random video I have watched. Many years ago,I used to work in the mental health hospital in Lochgilphead. We had a young red haired girl, who was a student nurse. She was from Tiree,I sometimes think about her and wonder what she is doing...Ginty.
Love this. Congratulations on your move and great advice on a "just do it" mentality. I've always tried to live that too which hasn’t always worked out but have no regrets. Just love how caring you are with beautiful Athena and Popcorn ❤. I think your channel will do great. Wonderful scenery and a good honest portrayal of the highs and lows of your adventure will certainly have many of us hooked. I also subscribe to Mossy Bottom channel. A similar type of channel. Daniel moved to rural Ireland to be self-sufficient. After meeting his partner they have relocated to rural Finland and started again. Another good channel. I really look forward to following your adventure. Love to the lovely sheep 🦋
Hi Ellie, thanks for your very kind and encouraging words, they are really appreciated. I'd like to publish content more consistently. However, I've not managed to get the work, life, youTube balance right yet - But I am working on it. Thanks again for you lovely support and I look forward to chatting with you more in the future.

What harsh weather, but a truly beautiful place. Glad your video came into my feed, look forward to sharing the adventure.
I am on the East Coast of Scotland and it is freezing here , Two feet of snow is so common plus ZERO Fahrenheit where everything freezes, even Salt Water ! Give me Tiree anyday !
I've seen more trees in a multi storey carpark. I wonder what native trees were once there?
I agree. I'm told that Tiree was once covered with trees but many many many years ago when 1000's of people lived here(Due to kelp farming) the trees were all cut down to fuel fires etc. I will dig out more information to make sure my memory is serving me correctly :-) I could be completely wrong. But, I do remember having a conversation with someone about it when we first moved here. But, I never checked to see if it was correct.
Checking a local bog or peat marsh will give clues. Maybe a type of Spruce or Pine once flourished.@@SimpleLifeScotland
