    I t ell all new players this, get 200 buckjs, go to almost ANY pawn shop in America, and find a nice Schecter C-1. They can get a flame maple guitar with binding that will do any style basically cheap. They're flooded here in the used market.

    I think to go onto a guitar course online instead of buying lots of gear.A.S is good advice i will follow to be a better guitarist and not buy pedals or guitars i may not need. Besides my flat is overloaded with guitars and amps and pedals and i spend too much money on gear so i will stop doing that. Thanks for the advice sir.

And only today I came across your channel. How come didn't I come across it sooner? I used to have a Grant SG model and it's the most beautiful guitar I ever had. And it sounded nice, too. I always thought that the pickups were just very weak humbuckers but it makes sense if they were in fact single coils. The main reason I sold it was an instable neck joint and bad tuners. I've come to regret selling it, though. Those issues could have been fixed.

  • @MatthewFinchMusic

    Ah gutted to hear you’d sold it. You never know, maybe it’ll work its way back around one day 🤞🏻 Yeah I’m pretty impressed with this one.

    I agree with everything you said, adding only a personal advice about the first guitar. A common mistake is to spend too much in the wrong guitar, but also to buy the cheapeest guitar avaible "just to try" (a mistake often made when the first guitar is a gift from parents). I think the right first guitar is the one that: 1) you feel confortable playing, especially in the neck (never underestimate the importance of a proper setup and guitar action) 2) it is versatile and let you experiment different genres, so it can grow with you: 3) it inspires you the wish to play (in other words, you like it!) 4) it stays in tune! I would suggest something like a squier tele classic vibe, a solid guitar that can play almost everything and could probably accompany a guitarist for a lifetime (but, obviously, the choice is subjectve and based on personal taste and needs)

    I've found that writing songs is much easier by recording my parts. It's so easier to fiddle around with VSTs as well to fill in parts like bass and piano during the creating process without needing to swap instruments and disrupting the flow. Also, electric instruments can be plugged in directly to the interface. Often times you can get a better result than using a microphone because you eliminate the variable of poor room acoustics, which most bedroom musicians will have. This also gives you a wide range of post-production tools such as a variety of Amp Sims and Impulse Responses (cabinet simulators) at a much cheaper price than physical amps and cabinets, and sometimes even free.

  • @MatthewFinchMusic
    @MatthewFinchMusic5 ай бұрын

    Yeah I’m with you on record electric guitars/basses direct through the interface. I have tried miccing up cabs but it’s just so much easier going straight into an amp/pedal sim and gets you 99% of the way there sound wise (at least to most people’s ears). I do prefer using mics on acoustics though. I find the direct in on an acoustic sounds a bit thin and like it’s not there in the room with you.
