    “You have to get use to the Honda transmission”. lol Man I’m old. I remember when we were “getting use” to CVTs in the 90s. I still hate them. Just feels less connected to the engine torque and feel.

    My dad bought a brand new Raptor this past March. I've ridden a Sportsman 850, Honda 350X, and my own Yamaha 225DX (similar to the Moto 4 mentioned in video). The Raptor is 100% the most fun ATV I've ever ridden. My dad and I usually ride on the trails and roads of Tug Hill here in NYS, and the raptor is awesome. It'll do 50 mph in the snap of a finger

    I’m probably going to buy one of these. I used to be an intermediate racer but now at 59 yrs I just want to poke around. At 230lbs I’m concerned after I stiffen up the CRF it will be taller than the KLX because the CRF sags an extreme amount in stock form..?

  • @DirtObseXXion
    @DirtObseXXion6 күн бұрын

    We think the CRF feels taller than the KLX anyway.. The pegs are certainly higher, so standing makes it feel taller even though seat heights are similar. You're probably right about the suspension too of course.. But with your experience I wouldn't necessarily think it would be an overly concerning difference.. I can say that a 250l feels considerable lower than both of these, but it does sacrifice some power

    I've got a grizzly 700, I got it brand new, and since then I've put 15,000 hard kilometers on it, and it's been rolled and pinned under a tree in a tornado, I've never had to do nothing besides some bushings, brakes, and oil changes, and she still runs great, I will never ever tell anyone to buy anything else, not to mention my grandfather has a Kodiak 450 with 25,000 km on it, still runs but not in the best shape

    Sport quads are more exciting i mean unless you like putting around in a lazyboy chair through the woods and they can get through a lot more terrain then most people think changing gears is great fun i think i would get bored with no gears to rip through getting stuck in mud holes is to much like work id rather spend my time riding

    I’m looking at getting a 450 but don’t know whether to get the ds450, the trx450er, or a ltr450. What do you recommend

  • @DirtObseXXion
    @DirtObseXXion12 күн бұрын

    The trx450 is going have by far the best aftermarket support.. I prefer the ltr450 but they can be finicky and the 09s and up had transmission issues.. I wouldn't get a ds450 unless it was mint and fairly cheap.. They were good machines but there wasn't a ton of them so parts would be hard to find..

    Beautiful ATV. Randomly stumbled upon your channel earlier today, and I've been hooked since. I recently got myself an '86 Moto 4 225CC with both front and rear suspension (and the different headlight setup, more similar to sub-modern late 90s-early 00s quads with the two rectangular halogen capsules). She was originally blue, but her previous owner painted her a beautiful olive green. Little to no rust anywhere with a working speedometer, trip meter, and lights. All that I'd ever need. Thank you for making such an amazing retro review on this underrated gem of an ATV platform. Just getting into the hobby as a 16 y/o and it feels nice to see my very own (or similar) ATV depicted in appreciative and nostalgic videos such as these. :)

    In the griz vs KQ video you mentioned when you contacted yamaha they said they didn't re clutch for the 27" tires yet in this video they say they did? Just hoping for some clarity around an XTR with the zillas vs the base griz on 26s

  • @DirtObseXXion
    @DirtObseXXion16 күн бұрын

    So Pat did say that they lowered the gear ratio for the tires, but I was told when we did the comparison that the gear ratio was the same on both models.. Im assuming that when the gear ratio was changed in 2019, which coincided with the first SE model that had the Zillas, and also the return to the Yamaha 686cc motor, was that all Grizzlies have the lowered gearing.. In our comparison we put 25s on a XTR and it felt identical to the base model with 26s.. So if they are different it's negligible.. Probably because the Zillas really aren't very heavy for how aggressive they are

  • @DirtObseXXion
    @DirtObseXXion21 күн бұрын

    I'm sure you could find an anti-vibe bar clamp or something.. But for proper context, we didn't really notice the vibrations very much until after riding the KLX.. So by comparison it vibrates more but it's not something I'd spend money on trying to fix...Do you already have a CRF?

  • @TheObsessiveGardener

    Dude, I love this! So nostalgic! Everything you said is spot on. Now we have things with more horses than a Texan ranch, weighs more than a single-wide trailer, has more gadgets than a plutonium farm, and costs slightly south of an original Leonardo. Yet, smiles per gallon is unequal. There is something to be said about a ride that wants to kill you every time you put your leg over the seat. The old Honda 125 that didn't have shocks is a great example; it's only 3 mph off from probably being the worlds most notorious serial killer. Anyway, keep up the awesome vids. I often wait a few months just so I can binge your channel. Cheers from KY.
