Just soak it in some bleach. Bleach (the kind in a big bottle for washing white clothes) disolves the chrome right off in a short time like magic with no scrubbing at all. If there is paint over the chrome you have to scrub the painted areas until you get down to the bare chrome (I use a stiff bristled brush and sometimes just my fingernail). Then soak it again and that chrome will magically disappear too. At least that works for older chromed slot cars like Tyco and AFX. Have not tired it on a new auto world. Oh I did try soaking a Black chrome AW Batmobile that was scratched all to heck in some rubbing alcohol and it stripped the black off and left the chrome undercoat intact. I assumed the bleach would dissolve that chrome off too if I had wanted to do that. Give the household bleach a try. It worked for me. A lot less stinky than ammonia. It’s a cheap experiment anyway since most households have a big jug of liquid clothes washing bleach around somewhere. 😀

I have a mean green armature that is bad on its original motor plate. I want to reuse the motor plate and top brass gear. How do I remove the armature? I have a balanced double wound balanced quadlam I want to install. I have a red knob puller I got from the guy in Illinois but it will not get under the gear. Clearance is too tight.

Because I use such a wide range of cars from T-Jets to Vipers, I went with the Professor Motor electronic controller. They change resistance automatically according to the car. Also, you can buy a 2 sided foam tape that is just the right height for the boarders and boards. ;) Thanks for the lane painting tip! I found a pack with my lane colors "Red White Blue & Yellow" Easy peasy!

That silver/blue/orange Corvette body is one of my favorites. I really enjoy working on 440/440X2s. So easy once you get the hang of. Those and Tomy Super G+ are my favorites. Tomy Turbos and Lifelike M right behind them. Rarely do anything with old Aurora anymore. Bored with them.

Johnny, no I put it straight on the wood. There is foam insulation glued to the underside of the wood board. No I don't screw my track down, I glue the cork trail roadbed the the board so the track don't move around. The 1/4 in mdf does the rest. If the track breaks or gets damaged it is easier to remove and replace.

Looking good ! I have found that painting the berm/ cork strip prior to install is easier. Also, may try doing a flat finish spray primer coat first. I used that on the Aurora Speed Corners with success. Just taped over the yellow plastic and sprayed flat black on them. Looking forward to seeing how the MDF strip bends for the turn wall. Keep up the good work !

Question: On an old armature remove the wrapped wiring then run a small wire from each of three 3 armature legs. would this be to fast or would it just burn up

  • @vitoman50

Never wound a arm, think you would have to run a more than one wrapping of wire.

Nice track!! Are you using a break on the controller? It looks like the car stops when it comes to a turn. Try no breaks, the cars slide into the turns much better. Then you can feather it through the turns. It makes for much better racing.. I can't use breaks. it makes the cars too jittery...

  • @vitoman50
