nicely done I have a smaller 1/43 track and i have about ten jumpers under it. it runs great. every track i have built ive always added jumpers. they are a must and i run a power pack for each lane. i have four lanes and i run four power packs.

I have a 45 foot 4 lane layout on a 4X10 table. I have 1 jumper in each lane. I also have a 4 amp transformer for each lane. All of my cars work perfectly on the layout. I love your video and have subscribed.

No kidding! Once I hooked in the new power system, it added a bunch of new wires. The bad part I'm no wiring expert.

You did a very good job on that wiring! I will be doing a under my layout vid shortly after I get my lap counter working.

glad to see you added jumpers (tap points) i think i mention that a while back in chatting with you, your track has come a long way and love to see ppl do it right, i actually am taking my track apart in a few months, i ordered a track from wizzard, i was making mdf track, but again, i like things to be done right, as far as why i change to ordreing a track then keeping my tomy set up, is i just like the wider track and the less conections and that means fewer tap points, it is expensive, but after doing the calculation, the price was the same as it was to buy all the tomy track, but i tell ya, i love your set up and the fact your doing things the way you are, it makes a world of diffference, and it makes ya feel good when you do something and it benefits,

A good tip for power tap placement is put them at the beginning of straight sections as that is where the biggest demand for acceleration power will be

The cars pull more amps on acceleration. You should have a minimum 10 amp power supply for 2.5 amps per lane. If you are racing neo cars or something like that, you need 5 amps per lane.

I used to have a 4 lane track 117 feet each lane. I used a 12volt deep cycle battery and I had the battery hooked up to two points one at the start and another at half way around the track. I had no loos of power anywhere on the track. I'm guessing that you're adding so many jumpers because you're using a wall power pack. I'm not knocking what you're doing, it's a good idea. I just wanted to let people know that there's another way to get power everywhere on the track. I don't know why more people don't use a deep cycle battery. Maybe I'm old school. Oh well, to each his own. Keep racing!!

Great video Kevin. I see you have changed the configuration of your track from your last few videos. How many running feet total? I recently changed the configuration of mine too.

i have a smaller track...but damn...just adding a power supply (transformer) for EACH lane made all the difference. Cars run great now. Excellent vid. Good to see all the terminal blocks - those things are incredibly helpful and keep things organized.

I was dealing with same prob ! Added second power PK and bingo 🏁🏁🏁 Now I have ordered the variable power supply just to say I have it .. But , I couldn't go that long without getting my slots rolling ... Gotta be killing ya ... Lol.. Its all worth it @ the end. Great info Kevin and keep up the work ( looking Good man ) love the UNICAL 76 ball !!!

Hey, Kevin! Love the videos! Do you run a separate wall wort(?) for each lane via the power taps or one single power source to all 4 with the taps? I use a separate "tri-pack" for each lane but haven't yet run any taps. I think the 22v is the middle setting for the Tri-pack...

Here's a tip to remember; if you set up your track with a power pack (wall wart) for each lane using the stock power connection track piece you have to open up the cover on the bottom of that track piece and cut the common ground strap that is attached to both lanes, otherwise you will still experience surges from other cars. Also; wall warts are very dirty power as they use a diode to cut off the lower sine wave to make DC and are not filtered. This can cause your motors to run hot. And the amp rating is VOLT AMPS, which means the rating is with no power draw. The amperage will drop severely with load. You can overcome this by using 2 wall warts per lane wired in parallel but this is still no comparison to a true regulated DC power supply.

Pickleman I will be changing to a power system later. Just did info on wall warts for now and jumper to show the difference. I've hard wired my track, so I'm not using the standard plug power pack and controllers. Thanks for the info though.

I think what you're doing with these videos are great. And everything you're doing makes great improvements at every step for sure! I just speak form decades of experience in HO slot car racing and having a large track in the past. I ran dual wall warts on my 83 ft track for years and it was fine. However once I moved up to modified classes of racing I needed more power. keep up the great work!

Pickleman Thanks for the info. I have run larger tracks in the past with one wall wart per lane and really had no issues 100- 165 ft tracks. But been told lately that I should run jumpers, so I'm going that route now to help everyone that does not know. Trying to help all the guys that need the info. And just to let you know I'm not taking any of your advise in the negative way. What I do is take everyone's advise and put it on my channel to help all. So keep the comments coming and we can all learn and grow together in this fun Hobby. Once again Thanks.

i have a question: i have 3 differents scalextric ho scale set. each track has a differents types of connections, how can i connect them all the make my circuit bigger?

Did some research and found they make adapter track which are call "Converter Straights". Ebay and Amazon show them. Thanks for your question.

Great vid! I’m just getting in to vintage sets. I bought a Sears/Allstate (Strombecker?) set...probably 60’s or early 70’s vintage. I’m not sure how to attach the power pack and 2 controllers. There are 3 posts on a track section and each controller is a 2 wire setup. Of course the power pack is 2 wire. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

vitoman50 thanks for that but I guess I’m not clear. Does one power pack terminal go to the track pin supplying power to each track (the pin that connects to both tracks under the track segment) then one wire from each controller to the other power pack terminal and then one wire of one controller going to one free pin on the track segment controlling that track and the free wire from the other controller going to the third free pin on the track segment controlling that track? I think this is right but not sure. Ask me to rewire a ‘72 GTO and I can do that blindfolded but this is a little new to me. It does make “power flow” sense to me to do it that way...just checking with an expert. Thx!

Ask the first question yes, one side of the power pack goes to common for both lanes. then the rest that you explained. you can always reverse them if you want the power going the other way....

vitoman50 I am going to the dark side and purchased a digital Carrera 1/43. There's really no one around here who races/play slot cars and I'm pretty much on my own doing laps. With the digital I can program up to 2 autonomous cars and race on my own. I love my HO especially having spent these last few months working on layout and such. My tracks are are all AFX and cars are all Mega G+. Your thoughts my friend. Thanks. Ish
