For anyone who wants to cancel their yearly subscription while paying monthly: there's a loophole you can use to cancel instantly ... 1. Go to your adobe account settings. 2. Chose change to another plan, choose the cheapest available. I had the full master suite plan and switched to Photoshop plan. 3. Once switched to new plan you should be able to cancel the old plan right away, without early cancellation fee. 4. Refresh the page and then also cancel the new plan you chose earlier. 5. Make sure to remove any content you might have on Creative cloud. 6. you should now have canceled both plans successfully.

I don't like Adobe. I don't like unfair subscriptions. But in all fairness, the video confuses terms right from the start: Monthly price and contract length. When Adobe says "59.99 per month," that's what you pay per month. Nowhere does Abode say that the contract length is also one month. Just because a price is listed as "xxx per month" does not mean that the contract length is one month and that you can cancel any month. They said that this is what you will pay per month, but as they explain later, you will only pay this per month if you choose a one year contract. When I sign up for a cable TV or cell phone contract today, they will also tell me, "This contract will cost you ... per month," but most of those contracts cannot be canceled after one month, they have a minimum contract term. There used to be times when that minimum contract term could be as high as 2 years. That's no longer possible, as EU regulations prohibit minimum contract periods of more than one year for most types of contracts.

recently cancelled my annual sub a month early. paid $60 to cancel. i messaged support to express my desire to cancel due to recent terms changes which I believe are anti-artist and anti-consumer. they refused and instead offered me three free months. i refused that and kept asking to cancel for the previous reasons. they FINALLY relented after probably 15 minutes of back and forth where the support agent would take 2-3 minutes between messages (kinda felt like they were hoping i'd forget and leave the chat or something). i'm never paying for their sub on an individual plan until they offer no-fuss monthly service at a reasonable price where i can cancel anytime without fees. so, probably never subscribing again.

You said you were hopeful of change at the end, there (24:21). That part reminds me of how a wife might speak of her hopes that the court-ordered Anger Management course might change her husband who's beat her on the daily for 30 years. It's that hoping against hope the person your life is invested in will fix their problems enough so that you don't have to divorce them. I hope they change, too, but probably, people will have to stop buying into their ecosystem before we see any Thinking Different over on Infinite Loop.

AVID (the developer of Pro Tools, Media Composer, and Sibelius) employ a very similar business model to Adobe. I had been using Pro Tools academically and wanted to evaluate its usefulness in my home studio. After determining that Pro Tools is absolutely worthless on windows, I discovered that what I thought was a month to month subscription was actually a 12 month contract that I literally could not find a way to cancel. Luckily I had paid with PayPal, so I just told them to stop making that payment. Just like Adobe did to you, AVID emailed me several times a day trying to get the money that I had not agreed in good faith to pay them. Fuck monopolists, fuck "industry standard" softwares. Vote with your dollars for companies that don't disrespect you.
