    can this type of pulse jet run on liquid fuel? is it suitable for rc planes? if so im wondering why these arent more popular?

    Why are you using the intake of the pulsejet engine to power the ramjet?

    The combustion chamber acts very much like a two-stroke expansion chamber exhaust pipe, that "scavenges" exhaust gas from the cylinder and sucks fresh mixed fuel/air past the reed valves. The German engineers who designed this back in the 1940's were way ahead of their time.

    *Now go ONE STEP further and attach a long shaft to an Exhaust turbine and you will have a PULSE / Jet Turbine engine. You will also get WAY better fuel economy to the typically thirsty Pulse-jets.*

    a lockwood or thermalpulse. Those work the best at large scale. you can even get fancy and mount a cyclone engine. That should produce about 50 - 100 lbs of thrust.

    That looks like the engine you built me back in 2006 or 7 i think, you made me one for about 800 bucks, bet you can sell them now for almost tripple that price. I had it for several yrs, did all kinds of experiments with it, sadly had to let it go after owning it about 7 yrs. I always wonder who might have it now, kinda wish i could get it back and keep it forever.

    Ramjets don't function below mach-3. Pretty sure the pulse jet exhaust is about mach 0.0001

  • @commonsense-og1gz
    @commonsense-og1gz2 жыл бұрын

    i think that is an exaggeration. a ramjet with the same gas turbine profile should very easily deliver the same performance, as long as velocity and pressure are same as the gas turbine engine at max rpm. keep in mind ramjets were on the drawing board during WW2. so, they could be used sub-Mach 3. it maybe Mach 2 which is the cutoff since turbojets require special ducts to slow the inflowing air.

    This is kind of genius if you were to focus and reconsistute the steam back into the intake, you'd get more thrust for nothing, if the steam got hot enough, you'd be cooling the engine whilst producing thrust similar to water injection in a turbine. This is actually...extremely interesting, this makes pulsejets far more feasible as a concept.

  • @qownson4410
    @qownson44103 жыл бұрын

    These are such odd engines, they're somewhere between a standalone afterburner, a ramjet, and a rocket. I suppose that's what a proper turbo-jet is, is an attempt to make a reliable rocket, by compressing and mixing fuel then blowing it out the back without expansion tanks. I'm just torn as to which is more efficient a pulsejet, or a standalone afterburner... If the pulsejet could produce thrust in a swirl, I'd think it'd be more efficient, but then the heat distribution would be all unequal.
