His students more than certify his rank👍 I trained under Thomas Bennet a black belt of his and the training was realistic and awesome!

I don t agree. If the Okinawan Karate and refers to Bubishi, and Bubishi is a military manual.. then Karate was practiced also from noble families practicing some type of jujutsu..which is military. Then why to make so sophisticate movements for the control of your body if this not superior on the use of a muscle in let s say combat sport. FInally why they should study kyusho points which in some cases result in the death of the opponent.

One of Urban's students, Joe Lopez, ended up splitting from Peter and started training under Gosei Yamaguchi. He eventually opened the New York Goju Kai, with its largest facility on Park Row in downtown New York. Lopez had an excellent and very strong, traditional dojo with many blackbelts training with him for a long time.

Urban was a real nutjob and his karate sucked! Morio Higaonna is the GOLD STANDARD for GojuRyu! Oyama karate is the best fighting karate worldwide.

I very much enjoyed your video. But you have missed one important aspect of Kata practice. POWER generation. All of the Goku Kata not only contains self defence and movement but there is a whole curriculum inside the Kata that demonstrates power generation the Goju way. It is hidden in plain sight.

Hi, thank you for the book recommendations. Since you are asking for other good books I would like to refer to Henning Wittwer (gibukai) and his German books on karate history. Besides his German books he also translated his findings into English. Especially his - "Karate History: Collected Essays" and - "Higaonna Kamesuke: on Karate in Okinawa, Japan & Hawaii" should be of interest for you. But also his - "Funakoshi Gichin Introduction to Karate - Translation & Analysis" and - "Funakoshi Gichin & Funakoshi Yoshitaka: Two Karate Masters" are outstanding. Kind regards

You know I really wish I should have had got into this a long long time ago I actually took a karate class back in 2011 I just wish I could have got up to my black belt I stopped on my yellow belt I should have pushed up the black the best thing about learning about karate is cuz it could save your life the right way of life and the way how you use it and I actually kind of like the Kabuto weapons that pretty old but they're also very fascinating 🥋🇯🇵👊😉👍🇯🇵🥋

I found you through your trans video I greatly appreciate the insight and your view on it Shits been hard for me because i cant get my next dan without competing im not allowed to because the local tournaments base their rules off of NASKAs 3 years HRT and bottom surgery with my ID matching everything but due to my voice and my appearance i wont be able to compete without getting disqualified for "being in the wrong division" I do traditional kata not sparring

Great to see you back! It would be very interesting to hear any details about how your Kyokushin class is structured as there are no Kyokushin dojos near me although I have been lucky enough to find a school that teaches Seidokan and Okinawan Goju Ryu near me that I have been at for 6 months and am absolutely loving.

Very glad you're back ..I take alot of interest in this as I did the opposite how ! because in 1978 I started with kyokushin then 3 years later changed to goju kai now I'm traditional goju ryu under the Higa linage but to this day my comfortably in Kyokushin close quarters still remains..I even slip in a strike when doing Sanchin Kata as my way of still paying respect to Mas Oyama in a cheeky way .. thanks for your truthful content ..deep bow

Great to see you back! I found your channel when I started to dig deeper into my style of karate - Kyokushin, so I was very excited to hear that you got into it! I totally understand that you can see Goju in every art you do, I also always say that Kyokushin is the root of my martial arts, even now when I'm grading in japanese kenjutsu! Wish you all the best on your Way!
