Navigate Offroad

Midwest ATV is all about providing the offroad community value through trail information, product testing, and ATV related content.

To stay up to date on videos, click the subcriber link here:

Let me first just say thank you. The fact that you are even taking the time to check out this about section is something I appreciate. To keep it short, Midwest ATV all started when I realized the absolute lack of ATV & UTV trail information on the internet. So I got to work hitting the trails and adding them to the website www.midwestatvtrails.com.

As it turned out, creating videos and riding ATV's are both things I really enjoy. When I put them together, it was almost like creating the ultimate hobby! From there, Midwest ATV spawned into everything ATV related and continues to grow into what it has become today, a place full of trail information, product reviews, and anything else ATV / UTV that will provide value to the community.

As a passenger sxs's suck, I get motion sickness even in the front passenger seat, especially in the back of a 4 seat. Never had an issue on a two up atv.

I’m new to this kind of community and this video was very helpful and informative, thank you! With this being said does anyone have a good recommendation of a machine that can go a decent speed with two adults on it and possibly handle most terrain?

A side by side is a very different experience than riding an atv. On a sxs you can really put a ton of accessories, way more capability in terms of offroad and utility, bring passagers along, being protected from the elements, doors, more clerance etc.. the cons in my opinion is that you can really feel the weight in those high speed turns, not as manubreable compared to an atv (speaking for a sport utility sxs) also not compatible with small trails, you get a rubber belt as your main cvt drive for a 1500+ pound machine, and you need a trailer to transport it, the starting price.. there is the possibility to make it street legal in some states but I think 70 or 80% of the people may never have the energy or the time to buy the st. Legal kit, modify the vehicle, call the dmv, get inspection etc. I guess its all up to the consumer, different tastes, different opinons, different budgets, different needs 🤷‍♂️

Been there in my "Stock (ish)" jeep with Big Dogs jeep club. Took me up some severe terrain that should only be run with heavily modified 4x4s. Luckily I didn't get any bad trail rash, but swore I wouldn't do it again in a stock vehicle. That said, I recently purchased a sport SxS and may take it there. Probably stick to Millers Crossing & Taskers Gap in Edinburg Va. just down the road a bit.

#1 item - LIGHTS ON AT ALL TIMES! (and just normal headlights - not the 30" LED bars) Really wish manufacturers would make this standard! Can't tell you the number of dusty roads not seeing people coming at you. And i know people joke about whip users - but plenty of times vehicle in the rear really appreaciates seeing those on dusty roads.

They adressed the width, they have 2 models, an 850 which is standard atv width, the 1000s have the 55. Personally i rip mountain terrain and the 55 witdth is way better, and we dont have width restrictions unless you get into the massive sxs, i have a 21 rzr xp1000 and its allowed everywhere

I always had sport atvs like the raptor 660 and the ex400 but as I got older 4x4 was more of a desire as you can not hit a trail the same way as the 4x4 utility quad as you don't high center or get hung up on a branch when you only have 1 set of tires spinning.
