    This Reely is great, especially if you consider the prize in Switzerland. Was about 400$, an Arrma Infraction is more than 800$ in Switzerland. With the upgrade servo and the ball bearing for the servo saver it was finally 520$. So if I had to buy again a 1/7 scale street car it would be this one.

    You have gone further than most while still retaining the kits original look and appeal! Out of curiosity, between Acent 18 and Katana, which one do you prefer and why (stock and with your current builds)? Nice build showcases!

  • @stefan-norge
    @stefan-norge22 күн бұрын

    Thanks, glad you like it 😃 Really hard to choose one as a favorite. The Ascent18 needs the furitek system badly if you add weight. So add the venom starter kit to the costs for an Ascent18. But then the mods are quite similar to get an equal result. Also both need a lot of body trimming, already with stock tires. Again, same situation for both. So in my opinion it is up to the look of the body. And now my „special“ situation: due to the fact that there is no distributor for Redcat in Europe or Switzerland I had to pay the same amount of money for the Ascent18 and the Katana (both stock). So in my case I would buy the Katana if I keept it stock.

  • @stefan-norge
    @stefan-norge22 күн бұрын

    By the way: I have added this video a view minutes ago. It is slowed down a little bit. That helps to see the movent of the body and the work of the suspension and tires. For most people boring but I like it to watch in detail. I prefer when the rigs body still roll and the shock has a functional spring and damping. Of course, one can see it just with a bit slo-mo but I like it anyways… PS. The Katana was driven by my father in law. He is a beginner and has a lot of fun driving it but the Katana can do much smoother 😉 kzread.info/dash/bejne/dI5rybGPpZW7h6Q.htmlsi=ijyhRDyXYMs2VtV4

Been looking to get into crawling and those two platforms look promising and here you provide build inspiration and detailed videos of them both which is a godsend, esp "real" katana crawling content that's rare on here. 1/18 seems like a good starting point, portable yet capable and it seems the aftermarket is catching up, although one needs to be a bit creative as you demonstrate ^^

    @@stefan-norge thanks for the reply👍the Rc Era C186 does fly well but doesn't seem slow especially in level 3 but sometimes if there's a breeze it drifts pretty badly even the air vents in my house push it around and I've found that if there is several objects around like furniture that's close by the rotor wash will push it around! I thought perhaps the sensor would help it hold but maybe not i might try it just to see. It handles the wind better on level 3 but I'm a little skiddish about doing that indoors it's quiet quick or maybe it's just me IDK. Outside it's essential too kick up the collective though .

    @stefanhofstetter54 I like it because often times folks will use something with a grip that reacts differently to different tire compounds, usually of course in 1/10th that may not be good indicators. Carpet for instance. I come from a flooring background and some carpets are treated, others built into the fiber, with stain resistance. This can make tires stick or slick. So I don't like that. And then there's guys that build a permanent ramp and increase the incline over inches. We'll if the back tires are on 50 degrees and the fronts hit 54 than you have to measure the degree of the chassis, not say it climbed 54 degrees. Joe from Exocaged measures his climbs in inches just for that reason. He says how far the car got, not what the degrees are. Makes more sense. I asked about a standard and the consensus in every crawling group was "as long as you measure every rig on the same flat angle for all tires every time" you can get a decent incline test. I use furniture grade plywood. I wipe it down and let it dry and change the angle for every climb. I wanted to do concrete board because someone suggested that being more similar to rock however concrete evaporates moisture. (As does wood but at a different rate.) So a piece of concrete board would get dustier over time and cause loss of traction. But anyone can pick up a nice piece of 3/4" furniture grade plywood and it's roughly the same everytime you buy it because it's made to take a stain. That's my weapon of choice.
