Hobby Plus CR-18P EVO PRO mod stage 4.0,

My most capable 1:18 / 1:24 crawler. It is a beast and great fun to drive.
Mod stage 4.0, rig weight 679g incl. stock battery (65% / 35%):
- front wheels: change from Injora 1.3“ aluminium wheels with brass rings to Injora 1.3“ full brass wheels: weight gain at the front axle: 54g
- aluminium steering link
- aluminium servo bracket
- aluminium inner portal cover
Gain in climbing plus 3° (60.5°), could do even more but the limiting factor is still the torque twist.
Mod stage 3.0, rig weight 586g (60/40):
- Hobby Plus Aluminium rear axle V2, using now the counter rotating output
- Hobby Plus Aluminium front axle
- Hobby Plus brass hex only at the front axle
Gain in climbing plus 1.5° (57.5°), less torque twist but still there, now on the passenger side.
Mod stage 2.3
- Furitek 20% front portal overdrive
- brass front portal covers trimmed to make the new upper gear fit
No change in the incline ability within my method to check it. Still 56°
Mod stage 2.2, rig weight 545g (58/42):
Loss in climbing: 1° (from 57° to 56°).
Reasons:
- loss of 80g at the front axle due to the lighter Injora wheels (minus 40g at each wheel), loss at the rear wheel just about 15g at each wheel)
- little higher centre of gravity due to the bigger Injore tires (70mm vs 64mm DJ Crawler 1.3“)
Still think the change will made the overal performance better. Testing on the rocks will follow.
- Injora 1.3 Al-wheels
- front wheels 58g each, brass ring
- rear wheels 41g each, aluminium ring
- Injore tires 70x27 mm
- body trimmed to avoid rubbing of the front tires
Mod stage 2.1:
- DJ Crawler tires 68x26 with dual stage foam
- Injora 1“ wheels
Mod stage 2.0:
- heavy 1.3“ wheels with DJ Crawler tires 64x24 mm; each front wheel weights 108g, each rear wheel 50g
- weight distribution now 62% front and 38% rear
- optimization stock steering
Gain in climbing: 1° (from 56° to 57°).
More weight at the front makes no sense. The overall abilities would get worse. The poor climbing is caused by the torque twist which helds this rig really back. Kind of disappointing if you compare it to the FCX24 in this video (stock electronics!)
Mod stage 1.1:
- brass outer portal cover front axle
- ball bearings instead of bushings in the portals
Gain in climbing: 1° (from 55° to 56°)
Mod stage 1.0:
- Injore brass wheels 1“ with only brass rings at the front axle (front wheel 59g, rear wheel 50g)
- Injore 64mm x 24mm tires
- more oil in the shocks
Climbing ability: 55°
