Grady Smith

Grady Smith

Hey! My name is Grady, and I cover country music (and folk/Americana/country-pop/whatever you call it) on this channel because I love it, and not many people were showing country any love on KZread. I've written for Entertainment Weekly, The Guardian, Taste of Country, and Rolling Stone, but lately, it's way more fun to just cut loose and talk on KZread. I try to speak HONESTLY, not just react melodramatically for the camera. I hope you enjoy!

Zach Bryan’s ‘Pink Skies’ is my favorite of the three, however Lainey’s song is very catchy and the song Luke did for the Twisters album ‘Ain’t no love in Oklahoma’ is such a great track! Excited to hear all the records!

I'm really looking forward to when we go back to calling them albums, not eras. And while we're at it, can we say 'released' and not 'dropped'. That's my annual old man grump out the way, as you were.

Lainey’s songs are always so well written!! And the line of fans getting straight up sideways is an ode to her song Straight Up Sideways from the Sayin What I’m Thinking album!

I just listened to the whole “Fathers And Sons“ album; I think it’s my favorite album from Luke Combs to date because I love all of its tacks‘ heartfelt lyrics and theme of the relationship between father and son. Also, its music leans heavier into the acoustic and bluegrass side of country with a little bit of piano and brush drums, which further melts my heart as a country listener. I give this album 10 out of 10.

I said this last year, half the albums are out before they’re released these days. I don’t listen to radio so I took it upon myself to not proactively listen to any singles that would be attached to an album and it paid off. I got to hear Cody Johnson and Chris Stapleton’s new albums this year without already being sick of the singles that came out first. About to listen to Luke Combs’ new album this morning.

Demo-itist. That’s awesome!! Being someone who found Lainey Wilson in 2018 I get worried that she’ll start getting hate for her success. Glad to see that’s she being her in her music. The outrage for who and who does win awards is why I don’t watch award shows anymore. I just search out the performances on KZread days later.

He comes across as a real dude. Very genuine and honest. Warts n all. I’ve been a fan for 1 year. Heard fancy like totally by accident one day in June 2023 and responded with ‘repeat’ and then ‘repeat’ again. He made me smile, laugh and happy. So I looked for more songs by him, loved them too. Subscribed to his channel, watched all his cute shorts and just basically became a fan of this man that just loves life and his family and making people smile. He’s just a real good dude. With a unique talent, just like Miranda Lambert. I enjoyed your epiphany very much, and now I’m going to see what else you’ve got. 👍🏻 maybe I’ll even subscribe if I see what I think I’m going to see.

Luke’s career dipped during his last album? I don’t know man, between Fast Car being played a hundred billion times on the radio and a whole summer of two-night sellout shows in football stadiums I don’t think I noticed any dip.

Every time I think I can't love her more and her genuine personality, I see something else and I love her even more. She is rare and I hope she always stays true to who she is and never feels she has to be anything else. She is really perfect the way she is just being herself. I saw her for free at the Mirage during NFR 2022 on a trip with one of my best friends to see Miranda Lambert(for the 8th time). Seeing both Miranda and Lainey in the same weekend was once in a lifetime amazing. I will not even wear my Black Lainey Fucking Wilson T-shirt I bought that night from a girl that was selling merch from a single box off in a small corner after the show(no fancy table, literally just standing there with a box and a card reader). I was one of 6 people that bought from her. I will treasure that T-shirt. I stood there and sang along to every song when no body even knew who she was yet. That girl is one hell of a do'er, and never let anyone side track her from being a dreamer.
