This movie was a blockbuster bc of the twist. People went back to the theaters again and again just to rewatch it bc of the different perspective the ending made in your thinking AND to bring their friends to watch their reaction. Then that friend would bring a friend...and the cycle continued. Willing to pay money to see it multiple times. Lol

This movie was cool when it came out, and still is. I do prefer The Marvels (which is like Captain Marvel 2 but for reasons the title was changed), which is crazier and more fun, but I think that's a pretty hot take among the fandom. You two are usually pretty joyful so maybe you'll like both. The MCU has a ton of content though, so not everything can be loved by everyone.

So... I understand _that_ there were people who didn't enjoy this movie, and I'm able to understand why they say they didn't like it, but... I'm just nowhere on the same wavelength as them. Personally, I really love that whole theme of the indomitable human spirit, and that a core part of humanity's heroes is the refusal to give up. Did she "earn" her powers? Eh, yes. Initially, she was just kind of given power, but... that's not that unusual for superheroes, honestly. To quote the bard, some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. What matters to me is that when the greatness was thrust upon her, she did what she needed to with it. Also, yes, there is a big controversy with the original cut of that scene with the biker, where she more explicitly beat him up and took his stuff because he was harassing her _way_ more, to the point of getting right up on her and pushing the map she was reading out of the way in order to aggressively flirt with her. That particular cut pretty much doesn't exist anymore. For me, though... what she did in that cut didn't bother me. But it bothered enough people to warrant Disney retconning it in all official releases. Still. What can you do? And yes. Onward to Endgame! SO excited!

Don’t get too excited. Captain Marvel is one of the worst characters ever, mainly because she was a supergirl ripoff! They have close to the same set of powers, same color design from head to toe, and even have the same NAME- Carol/ Cara Danvers. Aside from this, they shoehorned her movie between the two biggest Avengers movies of all time to guarantee monetary success claiming the spot of First Female MCU hero when that rightfully belonged to Black Widow. Not to mention Brie Larson was being a real bitch at the time. But she’s gotten better since then (I’ll give her that). You should be watching Alita Battle Angel instead right now. Where fandoms must occur naturally, they tried to force Captain Marvel upon everyone. They tried to take a dump on Alita instead of praising a fellow WOMAN in a far superior movie. I can’t wait for Alita2 to come around and DESTROY the Marvels which was even worse than Captain Marvel.
@neospock50344 күн бұрын
wrong and wrong. Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) isn't a supergirl ripoff, she's just the latest of SEVEN different characters to have gone by the name "Captain Marvel" since 1968. Her color scheme was taken from the first character (Mar-Vell) who was popular in the 1970s. Carol was Ms Marvel for decades, she only became Captain Marvel in 2012. Her powers are actually quite different too. The release of this movie between Infinity War and Endgame definitely helped the box office, just as Black Panther being released during Black Histoery month helped its box office too. Yeah Black Widow would have been a better choice for Marvel's first female-led solo movie, but the politics at Marvel Studios (and Hollywood in general) didn't allow it to happen. And Captain Marvel was the additional heavy hitter the heroes needed against Thanos. Thor and Hulk weren't enough, the good guys needed a 3rd super-heavyweight. Yeah "Carol" is somewhat similar but Supergirl (Kara Zor El) went through many name changes getting to her current identity. First she was LInda Lee, then Linda Davnvers, then Kara Kent, then Linda Lang, then Kara Danvers. And in the comics Carol Danvers was introduced as a supporting character/love interest for Mar-Vell in the 1960s before becoming a superhero on her own in the 1970s.
