Structured video interviews with expatriates from all over the world. For those who consider going for an expatriate life & emigrating, moving abroad & overseas, working & living abroad. About friends & integrating to local life, partner and children, work & business, living there & quality of life, money matters, paperwork & immigration, staying safe.
We, Ariane & Stefan, have an extensive history of living expat lives abroad, counting 9 countries where we’ve lived, worked and studied, and 100+ that we have travelled to. We know the struggle & thrill of making a new place home; how it can be overwhelming, and that some things make life easier - if you know them upfront. We’ve often been through the question that we ask in each expat interview: "What’s it like?"

I wanted to retire (from The U.S.) in Tunisia, but I don't meet any of the reasons listed by The Tunisia Embassy (employment, studying, joining a Tunisian family member or investment). I've seen (online) that they could (under certain circumstances) grant a retirement (Temp. Resident Visa) to someone like me, and I've sent an inquiry to The Tunisia Embassy in Wash. D.C. and hopefully they can help me. I have a good pension and substantial savings; do you have any information about this ?
AFAIK buying a cheap apartment or even a long-term rental is what the "investment" actually means as a reason of getting a Residental permit. Property is quite cheap starting from 800 - 1200 usd / m2 or even less if out of city center. Rental is not expansive at all as well. But anyways you made the best asking the embassy, hope they will show you the way.
Whatever you say Nairobi is very costly compared to Lagos.West africa is best for making money for expats but Nairobi the Indian Expat suffers a lot financially and the climate is really unpredictable Winter all the 12 months. It is probably more extreme than Belgaum climate and not Bangalore,Mysore or Abuja climate of Nigeria. Cab rates are skyrocketing.10 feet distance the charge is 200 shilling(200/1.53=Rs 133).A litre of petrol is 180 shillings(180/1.53=Rs 120) which means the Uber/Bolt uses Rs 120 fuel and earns Rs 133 for not even a kilometre. It is Gujarati dominated business city and everything imported from India, a pin to an aeroplane is 10 times costly than that in India but Indian expats are paid only paltry sums not in USD s but in local shillings which is Rs 1 =1.53 Kes which when reaches India becomes 0.85.

I am planning to visit Tunisia in October! I never thought I'd visit Tunisia but I made a friend there and it sounds like a fantastic country!
You went there? If yes, i hope u enjoyed!
I love Lusaka too, came back two weeks ago from my third visit, Zambians are very welcoming and friendly.
Good to hear that! Join the InterNations community in Lusaka and network with fellow expats!
The transition was easy for me because I grew up in South Florida....it reminds me of Miami because of the diversity...good interview
When someone highlights the seasons and closeness to an Airport you know its shiiiiiittttt

Hello haw are you my teacher i need learn english please help me
This guy’s comments cement my belief that Cape Town and San Francisco are very similar including the begging... and the contrasts. As well as its being similar to a European city.
frero articule
South African living in Potsdam here. Very relatable!
I am from Germany and I think you have a very German sounding accent when speaking English. There are some exceptions ofc, but some sentences sound like you lived your whole life in Germany and English is your second language.
lol....You bring a smile to my face....You are so vibrant...I think your mission will be to make germans smile more..........
I wonder why they are called expats ...instead of simply and literally calling them as immigrants.
Because they normally don't immigrate permanently. There are very few of people from a European country that permanently stay. An immigrant moves permanently. This woman has no applied for citizenship.
