    This is the best overall summary of the Kiowa and its systems. I learned the majority of this stuff through Casmo's videos(also recommend) and the manual, but this overall summary video does an EXCELLENT job of consolidating information into one source and will be very beneficial for newer players learning and/or people needing a refresher like the caption says. Well done sir!

    Another question is using the L2MUM you can't "cycle" targets that the drone is viewing can you? I think that is a DCS limitation but not 100%

  • @CJTFStanThaMan

    You are correct. You can't cycle targets with the drone and it is a DCS limitation. Would be nice to have them shift. Can't count the number of times I've had them lase a truck 50 meters from a SAM.

    Thank you for the videos. Your format is most useful.... the initial AH-64D video (6 months ago) then follow ups addressing the main changes as DCS produce updates and bug fixes is excellent. I found it a bit of a struggle to learn, being Early Access (like about a 1/3 of all DCS modules) the DCS manual doesn't match the modules ability and problems encountered are sometimes because I am rubbish, but often because its a bug, or not fully developed. Your videos seem to address the key elements that matter in order to get some enjoyment from the craft. I hope you keep producing them occasionally. Anyway, thanks again.

    Not sure if you've gotten it figured out yet but it sounds like you're not using your rudder to counter your lift torque. Any time you're at slow speeds and increase or decrease your collective to go up or down you'll need to manage your rudder inputs to counter any spin. The controls are bound under Flight Control Rudder. If this is your issue I hope this info helps. Happy hunting.

    Don't turn on the doppler. It's only a backup in case your GPS fails, and doppler is radar, so you will show up as putting off radar emissions and alerting anti-air to your presence.

  • @CJTFStanThaMan
    @CJTFStanThaMan2 жыл бұрын

    I chose to enable the doppler navigation during my start up do to the following information I found while reading up on it. "The main advantage of Doppler navigation is its self-contained design. Because the Doppler system does not need external data for it to function, it is resistant to tracking or signal-jamming, which allows the system to operate well in areas that are “off the grid.” By comparison, GPS navigation requires satellite data, but GPS signals are unavailable in parts of the world, and they can be jammed or disrupted by hostile attacks or atmospheric conditions. Doppler navigation works independently, giving flight crews accurate, jam-resistant guidance and velocity data without interruption. That’s why Doppler navigation is widely used in military, rescue, and other helicopters that commonly operate in remote and less developed areas, especially in contested zones." I may be wrong but I don't thing the navigation doppler will trigger an RWR as it's not a search or track radar. Everyone I fly with runs my same start up and I've never got a warning from any of them. Though the doppler radar beams are directed from the aircraft directly towards the ground at 45 degrees front and back. So I wouldn't be in a position to be hit by it unless I flew under them. Hope that clears up why I use it.

    @@CJTFStanThaMan I can understand that, but that info came directly from an Apache pilot so, I don't know what to tell you.

  • @CJTFStanThaMan
    @CJTFStanThaMan2 жыл бұрын

    @@GTRNights I’m guessing your referring to what Casmo said when asked why he didn’t enable it. He has also said that the way he does thing isn’t necessarily set in stone and other Apache pilots do things differently. I try to watch all relevant vids and read as much as I can about the birds I fly. A quick google search about AH-64D and Doppler navigation will get you: “All aircraft vital functions are monitored by software with extensive BIT support embedded. A dual RLG INS/GPS navigation system, supplemented by Doppler nav for accurate velocities, provides for extremely accurate navigation.” So while he doesn’t use it, it can be used as both a back up and a supplement to the GPS system. For that reason I’ll be leaving it as a part of my SOP. Thanks for your concern though.

    I followed your steps. But 1. pressing T/O Trim gets no light 2. Before I get to turn on SAS toggles, APU Gen light is already flashing and master caution flashing. 3. When I do FAST align, I don't get the dot beside it. What am I missing?

  • @CJTFStanThaMan
    @CJTFStanThaMan2 жыл бұрын

    Sorry to hear that you’re having issues with the start up. The APU Gen light comes on when the first engine is started to remind you to turn it off. Mine only came on after the SAS because I went fast, so no worries if yours come on sooner. The TAKE OFF TRIM light should illuminate when the T/O TRIM button is pressed and held. Even if nothing else but the battery is on. If yours isn’t I’m not sure what to tell you. Make sure you’re pressing the right button and if you’re running any mods, disable them to test. I just ran though the start up on my end and the fast align dot appears when I press the button next to it during the start up procedure. Make sure you’re not waiting too long to do it. It could also be a symptom of the problem you’re having with the take off trim. Hope you can get it figured out.

  • @simpitacademy
    @simpitacademy2 жыл бұрын

    @@CJTFStanThaMan thanks for the tips. I figured out takeoff trim will light up if yaw is set to the middle. Ok I’d turn off apu gen when the light flashes. You are right if I do the alignment quickly it will work for the FAST method, I’d get the asterisk. I’ve seen many start up procedures. I like yours the most. And the way you explain other things is like you were born an instructor.
