Welcome to the Cichlid Charmer! African and American Cichlids are my favorite fish in the freshwater aquarium hobby. They are so beautiful and they have such great personalities! Keeping cichlids alive, healthy and happy can sometimes be a real challenge, and it is my goal to share with you the knowledge I have gained over time. I also like having some fun with the videos sometimes, with different characters and voices. I aim to keep the aquarium hobby fun for everyone! I also make videos on general aquarium topics, such as aquarium maintenance, aquarium equipment, and general aquarium tips and tricks. Thank you for stopping by! If you like what you see, please consider subscribing to the channel.

could i l add both purigen and sachem matrix into my filter?
Thanks.. that was a great movie, and all of me was a great one too.
I forgot about that one!
Great! You did it.But the 180 blocking the window is a bummer. Idea 💡, you could move it to either side wall..but you'd need to put at least 1 4x4 from below to support the floor. I know it's in front of the window because the floor joints go that way.
You’re exactly right. I thought of adding support along the other outside wall, but I think to be completely sure doing that you’d want it done professionally with proper footings. I don’t know, I mean I might try that someday.
A very daunting task moving big tanks , glad it all went well, even without scratching the floors. Good job mate
Yeah Stefanos, I was worried about scratches too, even from just sliding the stands out from the wall, but nothing seems to have been scratched. I’m glad it’s over!!
I had anxiety the entire video lol. Great job that looked (relatively) painless!
lol thanks - I felt it too 😬
Steve Martin, the man with 2 brains
Excellent work. 1,000 bonus points are going straight into your account 😂
Watching u pulling the stand with the tank on it is actually funny 😅😅😅 but happy u got it done ✅
It does look kinda goofy!
Very awesome you got some help from family, neighbor and of course Stella, Molly and Higgins, I can only imagine how stressful that must have been yikes. I was lucky I had 2-3 beefy sons help move my bigger tanks (125gal, 2-65 and 2-55) by a hand truck and muscle, now days it's me and myself with a hand truck and blankies. I bet the next day you were hurting, that looked brutal, OK because I'm a nerd movie buff "The man with two brains" got ta love Steve Martin. Thank you for this info next tank move I'll try those dolly moving things and gasp!
Haha thank you, Polly! Actually my muscles weren’t sore, but my skin on my arms was! I am so happy someone got the reference and it was you! That one line has stuck in my mind for decades, and it’s the only line from the movie I remember lol
As usual great content, got to ask about the stands. Custom built? Where did you get?
They were locally built using the frame plans from Joey King of DIY. Thank you!
I put ratcheting swivel casters on my 210-gallon SCA Aquarium . I put 6 on my stand. Easiest way to move and level your tank. My tank empty is over 500 lbs! 5/8" Glass weighs a TON! 😁
Love your content and tanks. Keep up the good work.😊
Thank you, Alex!
Thanks!
Wow thank you!!
Did you build your stand? Really nice looking stand.
They were locally built using the frame plans from Joey King of DIY. I am building the next one. Thank you!
What canister is that?
The Fluval Fx6
Those are interesting I moved my 75 gallon with sliders but I know sliders will not work with something that size. I was curious how you planned on getting the movers under the tank.
Yeah it worked out great. I was wondering the same thing, and then I thought of using a pole or beam through the stand itself. There was no backing on the stand, so right through the door to the other side it went. Really easy.
exciting video, question where do you buy your tubes from
Thanks, Gregory! Do you mean the decor pipes in Alcatraz? Those were from Petco, but they don’t make them anymore.
What do you think of these little movers for my big tanks? Have you had any experiences moving your own tanks within your home or to a new home?
This is some no Kids rich ppl shit
These fishes are cheep if you bought them at 1 or 2 inches long. It cost only about $2 Singapore dollars per fish.
They are about $20-30 at 1-2” but they are unsexed. Most peacock and hap tanks are male only tanks. I don’t live in Singapore, but that’s very inexpensive
Love it😂
hardest part
Every time I start liking my tank, I go and see one of your setups and I have to put on my bathrobe, close the shades and shut my tank lights off. It's so beautiful. I'll be OK. Yeah.
lol, well thank you! It’s fun thinking of ways to make your tank look like you want it to though. You’ll get it!!
How many heaters do you have in your 75 gallon aquarium
Two. Neither is strong enough to heat the entire tank alone and I have a controller also.
I have a 300 watt fluval heater in mine is that good enough to heat my 75 cichlid aquarium
@@CambridgeAquaticsso that should be more than enough, but two 150s and a controller 🔥. That way you have a back up of one fails to turn on, and if one wants to stay on all the time, the controller will prevent it from doing so. A controller should also extend the life of your heaters.
@CichlidCharmer so if I git 2 fluval 150s would be more beneficial for my 75 gallon aquarium
@@CambridgeAquaticsyes. A 150 can’t cook your fish most likely.
Beautiful
Exciting news! My guess is 530 gallons
530… 🧐 Them’s a lot of gallons. Thanks for guessing! I should have the setup video out in a few weeks.
Hi CC! I also started my first male only Mbuna 75g tank approximately six months ago. I currently have 12 Mbuna ranging from 4.5 inches to 5.5 inches. The aggression has been real but manageable once I isolated the lone demonsi “emphasis on Demon & sigh”. I’ve been told a good overstock is around 22 Mbuna. I’m curious as to what your thoughts are that number and also also your thoughts on repeating a species type? Love the channel!
Hey that’s cool! I have heard about that guy - funny about the “demon” and “si.” 😂 So I am not an overstocker. I like to have a fewer amount than most while still having a good blend that get along fairly well. Refining when I get a really bad seed. If you have 12 and they’re getting along pretty well, I would leave it in a 75. That’s just me. Lots of hiding places for sure too. I would be too afraid to repeat a species.
@@CichlidCharmer Thanks for the reply. Although the temptation to add more is always there, I am inclined to agree with you. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it with another cichlid. Thanks again.
@@earlmcdonaldiii9796right! Could totally mess things ups up and stir up all kinds of previously dormant crazy.
Well, I dont think that this aquarium was boring, to be honest was very nice, just some plants should be included😉. Anyway, the new one looks very, very nice.
Well thank you! I really like the way it looks now.
Love the stands
Thanks!
I mixed them for years successfully 🤷♂️
I wanted peackock and hap tank, but ended up ordering both due to a buy 8, get 2 free special and their peacocks were limited. They were added with the 3 mbuna and pleco i already had. I haven't lost anyone yet, but I see a lot of territorial disputes.i recently lowered the temperature per one of your suggestions😊
Hopefully it works out!
What dimensions is your tank?
8x2x2 ft
@@CichlidCharmer Thanks. I am planning on getting back into the hobby and I had a l Mbuna tank over 20 years ago. It was a 6’ foot tank. I am thinking Peacocks and Haps like you have. Are you happy with the height and depth?
What pointless video ffs, ads a night light wooow
Thanks for the comment though - helps KZread think it’s a good video anyway 😜
Hi good night nice video call you tell me the name of the yellow fish in that tank thank you
Thank you! I list all the fish in this video: How To Setup a 75 Gallon MBUNA Tank | Live Fish Direct UNBOXING kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZGqlo8aml8iTkpM.html
Bro, what type of camera do you have?
I use the Canon R6 Mark II for some things and my iPhone for others.
Hola bro buenos dias, saluo soy de México, y muy hermoso tu tanque ojala algun dia tenga uno asi, una pregunta apoco el pez Oscar no se come alos peces arcoíris???
Beautiful
Thank you!
Love the video! For the rocks what I did was got some insulation foam from Home depot washed it down, cut it to size then wrapped it with black yard cloth (that way if they dig up the substrate you wouldn't see the pink colour) have had this in my tank for a year now and I have no issues and no stress about rocks cracking the bottom glass
Thank you! Sounds like you were smart about it. Good solution and keeps your tank safe!
If fighting starts i rearrange the ENTIRE tank. Everything. And do a partial water change. I don't know exactly why but they just go back to regular behavior after that.. has worked every time so far. But the key is that the whole tank has to look completely foreign to them you can't halfway do it.
You are so entertaining
Thanks, Tammy!
I have a 150 gallon American cichlid tank, Philippine Angels, Red Spotted Severums, Geophagus Tapajos, Electric Blue Acaras and a mixed origin clean up crew in a planted tank. The Severum chew some plants more than others, it is a learning process but doable. Am waiting for my 3 Electric Blue Jack Dempseys, the idea being later keeping one strong male to pair up with a regular female. Have done that before with good results, they are amazing fish, my favorites so far. On my wish list is a Central American cichlid Cryptoheros Spilirum, sometimes named other Latin first names but always ending with either Spilirum or Spilirus. On the smaller size, but beautiful semi aggressive fish that do well in a community setup I am told. Am moving up to a 190 gallon tank in a few days, it gives much more options and I really should have done that size right away.
Yes of course, spend $30 on specialty lube when the maintenance kit is $60.
You’re a brave guy lol
I have a small yellow cichlid… he was fine but now he started killing my fish 😢 funny thing he is the smallest one
It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.
Your 180 gallon tank looks amazing. Great job. The fish fit it perfectly.
Thanks!
Been using them for years. Just purchased 2 packs today 🙌👌
Tank is amazing setting up my 75 gallon this weekend trying to figure out what sand to use for the African cichlids
Caribsea aragonite is my favorite. Have fun!
What sand do you use for your African cichlids
Caribsea Aragonite.
Hai kawan... Apakah menurutmu praziquantel lebih efisien daripada formalin malachit fmg ?
I couldn’t say with any degree of accuracy
Pleco are my friend they clean glass better than anything, but they are invasive so you need to take care of them.. Don't throw them in the wild. You can use newspapers or any paper like that to clean the inside too.
I like background but I don't like paying on pay pal
