    I had this exact idea recently and looked around to see if anyone did it and of course you have. Are there any negatives with this setup so I can decide if I should design my own?

    Cool that you thought of this! If I were to do it again, I would lower the portal. For the purpose of printing the rims it didn't matter, but I never use that height. I would literally cut it in half for a form factor that does make sense and will perform better.

    Have you thought about a better way to do this? More in line with how the Mosaic palette does it with the heater pressure cartridge? I have a Prusa XL and it's a bit more tricky to push a new filament into the extruder if it runs out. as the sensor is miles away from the extruder. On my mk3s if the filament is near end I will watch and feed the new roll in. The xl you can swap to a second nozzle but by the time it parks, heats and then lays down filament there a distinct line as it's cooled too much. Solution i guess is 2kg roll.... I have a 1.3kg print I'm considering. I have tried to do a adhoc manual style but it isn't great.

    My understanding and experience has been that if you disassemble stepper motors you mess up the alignment of the magnetic fields. Something to do with them being magnetically aligned after assembly in some big electromagnet device. I've disassembled many steppers in my past and will never do it again. They never ran right or even felt right after re-assembly no matter how precise the mechanical alignment. Uneven and lower torque outputs.

    That’s definitely cool and unique. But I cannot think of any use or advantage that that has over a $30 ender.

    Use the drill press to tap straight. Drill the hole then while it's still viced up using a center point drill to keep the trap straight with the hole you just drilled.

    If you want totally different 2 parts, you can use 2 printers, if you want material switching but print on the same location, IDEX system can do it. I think it is cool but I don't see the specific use-case.

    I modified the stls a mm shorter so it fits (I know ur aware of this issue), but did u have a lot of play or any play on the extruder? Bc my extruder is really really wobbly...

  • @properprinting
    @properprinting18 күн бұрын

    Thanks for letting me know. I'm aware of this issue and it looks like that the tolerances between printers is huge. Mine fits perfectly, but it doesn't for some. I eventually turned it back to original because I don't really use this functionality and it became less stable over time.

    This is a really cool machine with lots of potential. To really get the most out of it might take some customization of the firmware to address the specific features. The carbon fiber truss rods are awesome looking.

Also, I'd be interested in seeing you add your "Proper Extruder" to a fast machine like this to really stress test it. Also, gotta love the backwards extruder fun. Keep up the fantastic work.

    As someone constantly on KZread, I really liked the way you integrated the ad. I never even thought about skipping it until it was over, and I honestly feel like I took a lot of what you said in even though I've seen dozens of PCB way placements before. It was just nice to have something to focus on that didn't feel forced, goofy, and never felt like it stopped the flow of the video. Just really good job
