    this is the way for single still image I guess. can't imagine adding 10+ extra shading layer that don't stick to original layer, and animating the base layer would make all the rest invalid...

    Ross, hi, thank you very much for the lesson, please tell me, and if I make two characters and, for example, make them walk cycles, will I then be able to throw them two into one scene with the background? Or let's say I have a character who is walking, and then, for example, he sat down or stood up, how do I do this?

    help : when I move the head with puppet tools, than the mouth characters don't follow the head movements. (Mouth is parenting with the Head). How to solve that?

    I work as a Rigger in kids TV. In AE shows, we tend to use a mixture of parenting x/y values of a selector to a time remap using DUIK, or by using a shape selection plug-in such as SF-Caddy (that uses time remap as well). I've personally never experienced a glitch with time remap either as long as my slider is rounded to the nearest integer. The advantages of this workflow is that we can take that pre-comp and apply it to other characters/costumes that uses the same mouth shapes, and plug-ins such as SF-Caddy are more of a familiar process/workflow to Adobe Animate's "Frame Picker" (or KeyFrameCaddy for us oldies), and ToonBoom's drawing replacement selection. Path-driven mouths can be animated using custom scripts and nulls, or using something like "Joysticks and Sliders". It's very common for us to adopt one or several plug-ins as a "standard" for a show so that both animation and rigging departments have access to the same tools. Stock AE just isn't flexible enough for multi-character studio environment. The process you've shown is nice and clean though. I can see it being useful on a mograph project where assets are built a bit more ad-hoc and you need to get animating quickly

    I feel like I've said this a million times, but I still come back to this video when I wanna bust out a lil walk cycle, just the slightly frantic energy gives me that boost and the directions send out a solid WC every time. Cheers, hope you're well!

    hi, what glitches are you getting ? Also I have 50 mouth shape layers so this method may be a bit tedious. Automating layer index may solve this. Perhaps copy paste would work here for all the layers?

    And you can also add this lines of code to be able to use slider control else if(control >= layerNum && control < layerNum + 1) {value = 100;} So the final rusult is: layerNum = 1 control = comp("compname").layer("layername").effect("Slider Control")("Slider"); if(control == layerNum) {value = 100;} else if(control >= layerNum && control < layerNum + 1) {value = 100;} else {value = 0;}

    This is way more effort than time remapping? Especially if I have 20 MOUTHS THE ANIMATION aspect is relatively the same - but the set up of urs is way more tedious ?

    a little tip for people make a Controller null for that you can parent the body and head to. If you had hands and arms, you can parent the hands to the same controller null for a lot of different kinds of postures! Also I made a null for the feet so that I could move them around if I needed to!

    little parenting tip: don't let them drink water until they're six-ish months old JUST KIDDING (fact is true tho) when you're parenting the ankle to the foot, you can hold SHIFT while you pick whip. it will give the ankle the same position data as the foot anchor point. that way you don't have to sorta guess where the anchor point is!

    Jeepers, this seems rather complex and quite abstract. I like to start from an existing illustration and rig and animate it from there. Thanks for showing your process, but I feel it's needlessly complex. :)

    i have a problem, the slider hav decimals and i cannot hit perfect 2 or 3 or whatever since its something like 1,9842 or 2,4535. how do i prevent this from happening because this way i cannot control anyhting if i dont hit exactly 1,2,3 or 4

  • @stunella
    @stunella Жыл бұрын

    Yeah I just realised I have this same problem where it spams all the layers to get to the next slider key frame. The only solution I have so far is having two set key frames for one mouth movement and keeping them one frame of the previous and next changing mouth movement. That way it can't transition through all the slider numberss. Hope this helps

  • @YoIomaster
    @YoIomaster Жыл бұрын

    @@stunella I actually created a text field, loaded the content of the slider and rounded it, and refered to the text field with the mouths instead of directly to the slider. the text field as a middle man solved several issues with multiple work flows in the past and it keeps me going haha
