    In my experience over the years the only good 3rd party controllers out there are the ones made by PDP (Afterglow & Rock candy) and 8Bitdo. Mad cats made good fight sticks during the 7th generation but that's it, Power A controllers have EXTREMELY delicate triggers and cable connections that get damaged easily on top of having HORRIBLE (AKA nonexistent) driver support for PC, Nyko controllers are uncomfortable to hold, the Logitech controllers are solidly built but small and only work on PC and nothing else, Arsenal gaming made decent controllers during gen 6 but have since faded into obscurity and the list of issues goes on and on. TLDR just buy official, 1st party controllers if possible.

    I was contemplating it for a minute because I was reading inconsistent inputs from different people that implied I got bad panel lottery. Ultimately, I held off because much like blooming, there are certain situations that makes it more/less apparent. All in all, it worked ok since I now use the Odin 2 Mini and it has some QoL features I enjoy, namely the portability but let me tell you, if my Odin 2 had a better screen, this review would've changed at least a little bit. Crazy to think. Thanks for watching bruh!

    Can't say that I do but there is this thing extremely rare to run into but not impossible. Your USB-C needs to have OTG support, otherwise, the controller won't work. But if you are able to plug say a microphone, a USB drive, or whatever else in your phone, that's not it. The other issue would be, have you held select+start to cycle from different modes? Or when you say it doesn't work, is it that it literally doesn't even power up (LEDs stay shut). Sorry I can't be of more help, let me know if mode swapping did it for you.

    Hello, I am currently using gigabyte m28u 4k 144hz IPS (300nit) and I like the G6 OLED model, but can switching from 4k ips to 2k'oled screen be a disadvantage for me in terms of image quality and text, clarity quality? Do you think I regret switching to 2k screen, do I feel the lack of resolution? 75% video and exel, 25% play games. Also, the brightness seems to be quite low, my current monitor is 300 nits and I think I would like more, although it actually works for me. The G60SD seems to have a brightness of 250 nits, which seems low.

  • @GameTechTalk
    @GameTechTalkКүн бұрын

    ***Warning, wall-of-text incoming.*** Alright, so for the record, I now have the OLED G8, the OLED G6 and the Alienware AW2725DF, I had to test things. I might do a follow up video, I might not. To answer your questions. The difference in nits, in my honest opinion, will be negligeable IF you play in a dark space. Your eyes adjust to let an ideal amount of brightness in. Sure, initially, you may see a slight difference but over short time, it'll settle. However, I would recommend using the OLED panel in HDR to just about nullify that concern you have. The QD-OLED Gen3 360hz panels do not have the same color calibration out of the box, the OLED G8 is better calibrated. I did calibrate the OLED G6 and got about 95% there, couldn't push it further as it has less settings unfortunately but I could do the rest in Windows. Highly recommended to calibrate it. The G8 also has a snappier (and more feature rich) OS, though that may be useless to you, as it is to me, except for the remote control, that's nice to have. For sharpness. I do not expect that you would see a noticeable difference if you sit at least at 40cm or more from your panel. Closer than that, the difference still remains not as impactful than versus jumping resolution on LCD tech, I have my doubts as to why that is but by the response from this video, I don't think people want to hear it. I also wouldn't expect a major uplift in colors because IPS is particularly good for that. The three mega obvious advantages will be deeper and more precise blacks, no more light dimming blooming and the best is the AMAZING response time of OLED panel. 120hz or 144hz on LCD tech (VA, TN, IPS) does NOT feel like like 120hz or 144hz on OLED. OLED is far smoother in frame by frame delivery. In fact, when I moved to my first OLED panel as pointed out in this video, I moved from a 4k 240hz VA panel to a 1440p 240hz OLED. Setting my OLED panel at 120hz almost feel as responsive as the VA 240hz, that's how much of a difference the response time of 0.003ms makes. The one disadvantage and the only real one in my opinion will be text clarity, with that said, I'm not picky on that and I spend most of my time working on these monitors, I hardly play because I have too little time from doing KZread. With that said, I would recommend going for the OLED G6 (or any other QD-OLED Gen 3 360hz equivalent) because you will not feel like you lost much clarity (to not say at all) but you will gain a considerable uplift in performance due to having to cast a lower resolution, which will help to rather push those FPSes. I am pretty determined on my end that I'll be keeping the Alienware because I got it for a great price and it's literally the same as the OLED G6 minus of course the frame, the stand. Oh and last, I sincerely think Samsung did probably what is the best job I've ever seen from a matte panel, that is a major concern I had that turned out to be very bearable. Sorry for the wall-of-text, I do hope this helps, ask away if you have more questions! :)

  • @Butterflys07
    @Butterflys07Күн бұрын

    @@GameTechTalk Thank you, I think I can think about having more beautiful colors and better fluidity by sacrificing a little bit about text clarity. Finally, is there a situation that creates inhomogeneity on the screen, such as colors close to yellow or white to gray?

  • @GameTechTalk
    @GameTechTalkКүн бұрын

    @@Butterflys07 That is a great question, and to be honest, I do not know the answer. I would think just from any other panel before it that it would shift over time but OLED is such a surprising tech when it comes to defying pre-determined expectations that I sincerely don't know what to tell you. If temperature, long exposure, direct sunlight, or any other else situation can cause color shifting over time, I'm sure it's been studied but to tell you that I know the answer would be a lie. Sorry to say I can't help you on that one.

  • @GameTechTalk
    @GameTechTalk2 күн бұрын

    It's a mixture of two things in my opinion. Number one is, rerouting a key versus macro'ing key(s) is effectively different from a logic board point of view, one is very basic on/off paired with a set value to update on which key, whereas the other enters "Logic" territory, it's effectively two very different efforts and one would require a deeper control over the board of Sony's controllers, or to add latency to their product, very bad idea as an Elite controller, plus, I'm sure Sony keeps the board logic somewhat encrypted. The other reason is I wouldn't be surprised if entering that "logic" territory would be considered cheating for Sony, so they could go the extra mile to block that device on their systems. As a brand, I wouldn't want to sell a product and risk Sony locking my product out of it's ecosystem only to have buyers ask for refunds and whatnot, that's risky and not viable business. The Cronus Max and XIM attachments of the world don't care but if I was an "Elite" controller company, I definitely wouldn't risk it.

    Quick shoutout to @m2ljay and Epsy on the RH Discord. There is a discrepancy in my review, which is that the panel reports as HDR, my apologies as I used the wrong tools to evaluate that information. With that said, I still put the tonemapping up for questioning as without it, it's not proper HDR. Forcing HDR makes the panel washed out, precisely as if no tonemapping is available. That might be something that can be fixed in the future, or something for which I simply have not come across the tools yet to address. To see what I'm talking about, load an OLED HDR video on KZread from Chrome, load it again from the latest version of KZread app from the Play Store and make sure you are on HDR quality, should be on by default. See the difference in the first 5 seconds. It's pretty obvious. If you know a solution to this, please do share, thanks!

Once you upgrade your phone, it’ll become e-waste. As for the X2s Bluetooth, it’ll still be good after. They are both ok but to me the X2s is the better product of the two and also, it spoofs as Dualsense which works better with iOS than spoofing Xbox 360 wireless (which M10 does). I think that this review is as good as American teams in the Stanley Cup Finals. I'm of the position, thanks in large part to this very fair and balanced review, that I'd love to win an Odin2 Mini and I'd enjoy playing on it forever. However, I don't think I'd ever actually pay money for it in a world where its big brother exists for similar or less money. It's compelling; but, in all the ways that matter to me the Odin2 is more compelling. The big boy has a bigger screen that's probably more than good enough, better ergo, better battery, better cooling, and arguably better styling. I've flip flopped on this like a fish on the beach because I love the Vita look; but, it doesn't sit right that it's not being made by Sony. It's the same deal with the GPD Win 4 that looks like a PSP. I preferred the Win 3 a bit better because it was more unique. I'm weird, I know, but, I'd preferred if the Odin2 Mini looked like an Odin2 that was left in the dryer a bit too long. And the RG556 exists with the best screen and ergonomics on the market, a much lower price, and better than adequate performance for the things I care about (PS2 and higher end AAA Android ports). The device I currently use for that is an LG V35 with the Snapdragon 845. The big issue with using a six year old flagship as a makeshift handheld is thermal throttling. The T820 is supposed to be on par with the 845 when cool, maybe a bit better (I don't remember), but thanks to the integral fan it won't fall flat on its face after about twenty minutes playing harder PS2 games. I love the looks of the RG556 too. I've always got Game Gear vibes from it, especially in black, but it's not a direct ripoff of anything. I approve. I'm in the market for a high end Android handheld. Maybe not today, but soon-ish. I want to like the Odin2 Mini; but, it places third in a three way race. Granted, we'd all like to go home with the woman who places third in this year's Miss. Universe. But, I don't think I'd pay for the privilege. It's the same deal here.

    Nothing like signing off for the day to a Matt Davis comment. "...I'd preferred if the Odin2 Mini looked like an Odin2 that was left in the dryer a bit too long." 😂 I totally am not about to Google "3rd place Miss Universe" right after I finish typing this. 😅 I often think I would do well to unearth my ROG Phone 2. I have the Kunai 3 and the Twinview Dock, which could make for a fantastic video of a device brought back to "retro" life. I need to write this down somewhere, but back to high-end Android handheld... The thing is, they do have the price structure, but you would indeed be paying the price of today for the needs of tomorrow. Better yet, you may address them before you even reach that point, and with a device that better fits your needs by then. At half the price (and sometimes less, as it can be found on sale), the RG556 is a very appealing proposition. I'll be honest. I wasn't immediately sold on the RG556. It took a bit of time for its quality to really sink in. The thing is, if I indulge in nostalgia-dense retro games, I rather do it on a panel that uplifts the experience. Retro games do so well with AMOLED and OLED screens, that color vibrancy is second to none, all while retaining great fidelity. So yeah, if you know that you'll be seeking out the latest Android game, one of the Odins remain a choice well worth the price of admission but if you're main use-case is retro?... Odins are currently overkill and emulating Switch doesn't sit right with me personally. Not judging those who do but for me, Switch games will be on a Switch device. Especially since the better experience will be there anyway. Now back to Google'ing some stuff... *cough cough*

    @@GameTechTalk - I think that ROG 2 video would be interesting. I looked it up and it runs the Snapdragon 855 Plus. Outside of the Odin 2, the new AYANEO Pocket that I've forgotten the name of already, and the Razer Edge; a ROG2 + a Kunai makes for a handheld that will lay waste to pretty much every real handheld on the market. And only the Razer, maybe, will have as high quality of a screen. I'm not sure if the ROG Phone 2 has depreciated as heavily as many of the other 855 flagships; but, it'd still be a great representation of what's available on the used market for the more frugal gamer.

  • @GameTechTalk

    If you favor portability and are very sensitive to panel delay, I'd say go 2 Mini. If you are not too picky on your panels and prefer ergonomics, bigger panels and longer battery, go Odin 2. I should point out that I am a massive early buyer of tech so for me, I've been on super high framerate panels (240hz+) easily for more than half a decade. I probably created that problem for myself over time. It's not unbearable but don't go expecting the responsiveness of even a 60hz flagship phone. I also think that just for about anyone, putting the Odin 2 and Odin 2 Mini next to each other makes that issue quite obvious. Put it this way, if I could have a more responsive panel on the Odin 2, no need for MiniLED, I would go for that option over the Odin 2 Mini.

    Interesting that you left out if they need to be charged, I only have 1 telescopic controller Gamesir Galileo G8 and it feels like what a controller should feel like, except for one downside that the buttons are nearly completely vertical with the sticks even though it's shaped in a way that could allow it.

  • @GameTechTalk
    @GameTechTalk4 күн бұрын

    Most telescopic controllers are plugged in but you are right with the BSP-D8 Pro at least, that one is battery and do need to be charged. Thanks for pointing it out, I'll make sure to mention it when I do this again. As for the sticks, I like them slightly off as well but seeing as the Galileo has a large enough ergo grip, I find that to be more trivial than on something like a retro handheld or a joycon, you know something with a slimmer profile. Cheers and thanks for engaging!

    I will not unfortunately, I have declined the product for review as it seemed a little too close to the GameSir Nova (minus HD rumble) and since I already talked about that, I decided to skip it. I did watch a video or two about it and it looks like a great cost-efficient solution, definitely a good pick for those who don't care for rumble and prefer a "standard" ABXY layout. Cheers!

    It's future proof but like you said it's currently overkill. Gen 7 emulation is still a work in progress and gen 8 emulation is a "forget about it" moment". I'm sticking with my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro for emulation. My opinion on this unit young lad is pretty strong and very, very negative. The build quality is outstanding but hell no on the price! The RG556 and the RP4 Pro have a much better price to performance metric. I'll buy the original Odin 2 when on sale. You're right lad if you're not a collector, don't buy this.

    AYNTEC are impressively and rapidly becoming a brand one can’t ignore for great reasons. They make great devices. Still, the Odin 2 Mini feels a bit like loyal consumer being milked rather than establishing trust. It’s the type of product that can’t help but make one wonder why didn’t the Odin 2 just have an extra 1-3 months cooking. The kind of move I expect from a brand that starts with AYA and ends with NEO 🤣, I hope not to expect it from AYN too. I hope the Odin 3 will have both SKUs on launch or that the differences in the cycle upgrades are more impactful. With that aside, I hope you’re having a great start of your summer Hunter! I don’t know if you still professionally teach but if you do, it sounds like a chunk of fun weeks coming ahead! Cheers!

    @@GameTechTalk BTW, I feel the same way about the ROG Ally X except for the emulation component obviously. This is the kind of hardware games that are played when you DON'T have IP like Nintendo or Valve. Every hardware manufacturer is fighting for market share and I'm not sure that the end-user is less with half-baked products that over-promise and under-deliver. The Portal, it's a perfect example. Thank you for mentioning that device lad.

  • @GameTechTalk
    @GameTechTalk4 күн бұрын

    @@STR82DVD Not that I know of for Odin 3 but I would think late 2025 if not early 2026. I think we’d be more likely to see an Odin 2 Ultra if they keep that modus operandi. You know, that phat 8” AMOLED Odin 2 with 4 back buttons and HD rumble… Can I be shameless and say I’d totally jump on that! 🤣🤣🤣 As for ROG ALLY X, to let you in on a secret, I don’t know if I want to keep my preorder at this point in time. I’d receive it just before I leave for Iceland so I’d review it on my trip most likely, that’d be fun to take around with me but a part of me feels like I need to stop engaging with certain products and focus on building audience on the ones I already have to build my presence. Up until companies like ASUS see me. Cause right now, either they don’t, either they don’t want to talk. Time will tell.

    who is the best for fps game ? dead zone sensitive for aimming ?

  • @GameTechTalk
    @GameTechTalk4 күн бұрын

    It’s questionable. I’ve always been a big believer in raw inputs but raw means the missteps and mistakes are also more captured. So much like dead zones eliminate the raw input jitter at base value, too much sensitivity is like bringing that jitter back on stick travel. Cheers!

    Are you able to map the back buttons to keybinds on mw3?

  • @GameTechTalk

    So that heavily depends on what platform you mean. If you mean keybinding say your keyboard while playing on PC? No you cannot. If you mean keybinding for example your reload button (square) or your firing button (R2) while playing on PS5, you absolutely can yes. I hope this answers the question, cheers! :)

  • @GameTechTalk
    @GameTechTalk4 күн бұрын

    Thanks! So here is the nuance I comprehend. The specs are capable of HDR, that I can get behind but afaik, HDR tonemapping is not supported. I also don't also find the color gamut to give off nuances of what HDR looks like. Compared with HDR certified panels, the difference is definitely visible. But maybe there is a setting I missed or maybe AYN could add support over a future firmware update? If you have access to a HDR On/Off type of slider, please let me know, I'd love to investigate this further. Cheers! 😊
