    This was fascinating! Thank you so much for looking into this and presenting it! I have environmental allergies that developed over time. I'm even allergic to my own cats! Since Hell would have to freeze over before I ever give up having kitties in my life, I always figured I'd just have to suffer with the runny, itchy eyes and nose, the sneezing, and the horrifically itchy skin for the rest of my life. Now, I was recently diagnosed with eczema (after years of just being told I was itchy because I have "dry skin"), so maybe I'll bring this video up whenever I go see an allergist. Again, thank you so, so much for presenting this. I never knew allergies were this complex. Also, thank you for giving me hope that one day, I will be able to live without itching, sneezing, and using an entire box of Kleenex in three days. Maybe it will make colds, the flu, and other respiratory illnesses less intense, too. :)

    Profit seeking entities demand two things. That the "right" to make profit, regardless of the damage it creates, is never questioned and that they never be held responsible for the products they create.

    You can go on and on and on about how the oil companies "transfer the burden onto the consumers to recycle". But, if the recycling companies are barely recycling much of the waste, and if the oil companies KNOW that, WHAT IS THE GAIN OR ADVANTAGE TO THE OIL COMPANY TO TELL PEOPLE TO RECYCLE AT ALL? WHY DON'T THE OIL COMPANIES JUST TELL PEOPLE TO THROW THEIR PLASTIC PRODUCT INTO THE TRASH? 1. Oil company sells plastic product to consumer. Consumer throws plastic into trash. No "middleman" or, rather, no third-party: the recycler - involved at all. 2. Oil company sells plastic product to consumer. Consumer throws plastic into recycling bin. "Recycler" doesn't bother recycling it at all. I don't see how 2 > 1 for the oil company. It literally seems to be the same benefit for the oil company.

    All these documentaries, and worse - the COMMENT sections -- say the SAME EXACTLY the same tired old stuff we have all heard a trillion times before: about big bad mega-rich industries with obscenely overpaid executives lobbying politicians -- and that is all true. I vote Marxist and Communist when they are on the ballot. Otherwise, as a registered patriotic Green, I vote Green, and absolutely will vote for Dr Jill Stein. Trust me: I support WAR against fossil fuel addiction, ESPECIALLY against the AGW-deniers in the FF industry. But NONE of that changes PHYSICAL DETERMINISTIC LIMITS and LOGISTICAL CONSTRAINTS at every step in the supply chain. You say "FF companies shifted the burden of responsibility onto consumers by telling them to recycle". But, making people recycle is a HELL of a LOT EASIER "hardship" than making people AVOID USING PLASTIC CONTAINERS IN THE FIRST PLACE. How in the WORLD would a consumer PRACTICALLY be able to physically carry home the MILLIONS of DIFFERENT TYPES of food items in all the supermarkets of the world WITHOUT A CONTAINER?? It is impossible for me to avoid noticing the irony that I must sound like a flatearthtard who says colossally stupid shit like "gravity needs a container" or "the atmosphere needs a container to avoid flying off into the vacuum of space". But having stores stocked with products that customers can take home is otherwise IMPOSSIBLE without plastic or aluminum containers. How would producers package WET TOFU and all assortments of wet or soft soy based products? We Antinatalist AR Vegans have known FOR A CENTURY the two MOST EFFECTIVE ways at PREVENTION of harm are: 1. Don't have kids: i.e. don't breed humans. 2. Don't eat meat: i.e. don't breed nonhumans, and then torture and murder and eat them. Not having kids and not eating animals, eating plant based protein when you're hungry, are TRIVIALLY SMALL hardships, compared to the truly backbreaking ineffective effort of "growing your own food".

     @joeyager8479 I am sure you worked in engineering much longer than I have. After I earned my BChE in 1986 I worked at Rohm & Haas Research Division in Springhouse, PA for two years: first in calorimetry then in corrosion. I want to know WHY recycled plastic is so inferior to virgin. I want to know fundamentally scientifically why. Not just some biased opinion against recycled plastic from some politician. If there exists some deterministic physical reason why, I want to know.

     @jarthur5094 Careful. The LOSING voters are never responsible for what the WINNING voters cause. By "losing voter" I mean those who voted for the candidates who lost. By "winning voter" I mean those who voted for the candidates who won. I am a registered Green voter. None of MY candidates has ever won, so *I* hold no responsibility.

     @pbsterra I STILL want to know an answer to THESE two questions: 1. WHY can't we put the oil-based trash BACK INTO the spaces beneath the earth that the oil came from? 2. Why hadn't all the oil that HAD been underground for millions of years not negative affected life on earth in the same way products made from that oil do now? ABSOLUTELY 100% OF ALL DOCUMENTARIES ON THIS SUBJECT OF PLASTIC WASTE SAY EXACTLY THE SAME THINGS, BUT NEVER ASK AND ANSWER THESE 2 QUESTIONS. And they NEVER EVER MENTION the FUNDAMENTAL PHYSICAL LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS: ENTROPY, AS BEING THE SOURCE OF THIS PROBLEM OF RECYCLED PLASTIC BEING "inferior" TO VIRGIN PLASTIC.

    Energy over technology: I'd be interested to know how many of those allergic eczema children were in emotionally/energetically stressful environments. The skin is not your first layer, your Aura is, and both of these symptoms (allergies and eczema being the symptoms) are based on a mindset where someone's system is under extreme antagonism. (Also soaking from experience but referencing Louise Haye heal your body) 🙌

    All plastics should be shutdown and all in anyone's possession should be taken from them. BANNED TOTALLY. Ok, a few problems do happen such as total lost of all cars, truck, etc regardless of power source, most houses would be come striped, many foods would be strictly bulk bring you own containers NO PLASTIC, when you walk to the store to find little of nothing in it. Cans are the best as metal is 100% recyclable IF PEOPLE FOLLOW THE RULES, but they don't with plastic so why would they for metal. Where I live we recycle plastic bags and all types of plastics and I HAVE BEEN TO THE PLANTS THEY ALL END UP IN. Bags end up as boards and structures for such things as park benches and our town has a number of them and your deck could be made of them. Number 1 clear goes to making more clear bottles, Number 2 and 5 as well as number 1 NON CLEAR goes to making various containers such as flower pots and other colored plastic items. Most contain about 10% version (new) plastic. But it all starts with YOU the consumer NO one else. Can't recycle what is not put into recycling. I've got over 20 years of recycling experience and 100% of all issues are the CONSUMER. Want to destroy a plastics load, throw engine oil bottles into it. BAN ICE cars will solve that problem even if I do hate EV's.

    Not every reaction of your body has to be an allergic one. You can also be oversensitive to a certain substance. I for example am not allergic to pollen (it has been tested) but I developed more or less the same symptoms like sneezing, sore throat etc. when I come in contact with certain pollen. I heed the same drugs as for hai fever.

    I'm confused. The presenter stated "the hygiene hypothesis is outdated," but then went on to essentially explain that we need "old friends" which sounded a LOT like the hygiene hypothesis. Can anyone in the comments clarify?

  • @Insan1tyW0lf
    @Insan1tyW0lfСағат бұрын

    The ideas are similar, but apparently the "hygiene hypothesis" was primarily concerned with our reduced exposure to _harmful_ microbes, where the "old friends hypothesis" is primarily concerned with our reduced exposure to _harmless_ microbes. As I understand it, the older idea was that with fewer dangerous targets to attack, the immune system started to attack more non-dangerous targets (a sort of "fewer safe outlets for aggression" or "disproportionate aggression"). The more recent idea seems to be that with less exposure to neutral or friendly microbes, the immune system becomes more likely to misidentify harmless things as hostile ("insufficient socialization").

  • @falsificationism
    @falsificationism51 минут бұрын

    @@Insan1tyW0lf Very clear explanation, thank you! Still sounds like the behavioral takeaway is pretty common sense. I hate when people try to overdo it on the technical distinctions. 1) Don't expose yourself to harmful microbes, because yeah...don't randomly try to microdose syphilis. 2) Cultivate a diverse microbiome. I imagine this includes spending plenty of time in nature, eating diverse plants, etc. Anyway, thanks again, this was great!

    La Niña versus El Niño. Look it up! When we’re in a La Niña, the trade winds are different and coming from the north. When we’re in an El Niño, which is almost all the time, the trade winds will go up north and that’s where we see all the hurricanes. So don’t do the non-science thing and look up the important factors on why you think tornado alley has moved. It has not. Go through the history of time and what’s been recorded on where these tornadoes are at. Do your self a solid of having someone like me who’s done the research and understands the difference between El Niño and La Niña and can figure out what conspiracy you’re trying to create! Before anybody wants to jump on the bandwagon, I’m not responding to any of you! Because I already know you’re not gonna take that $1200 phone that you are holding in your hand, called a smart phone, and look stuff up! End of discussion! It’s called science, look up your facts before you spread the conspiracy! Shame on you! Go back to school!
