This sounds like my sisters. I took care of my Dad until he died of cancer. Took care of my mom until my oldest sister who had gotten power of attorney put her in home. Who knows where all my mother’s property went, to be honest I never asked didn’t want anything. My sisters wouldn’t even let my mother in their homes. I would make sure my mom spent all holidays with me. I no longer speak to my 2 sisters, after the way they treated my parents.

All of us help our dad him who's suffering big medical issues right now. I'm BEYOND lucky to have them. People that only surface when it's safe to do so? I call them submarine siblings. They can't support with grace without complaint and need people to acknowledge their sacrifice above all else because it's them missing work that should be considered, not mom's Alzheimer's. I get it, we got jobs, kids, lives to live ourselves. Obligated? No. Then keep it that way when they pass away and don't show up with your hand out. But also beware the wolf disguised. They'll sacrifice only to pawn dad's watches behind his back. Double check your parent's estate while alive. Supporting a parent in old age is a sacrifice. The people encouraging the graceful ones to not speak up are the real problem. They're the one's who sweep family shit under the rug just so "we can keep the family together" or "not cause drama." It's acting like a peacemaker solely so they don't have to be involved. It's the same shit as the sub member with fake "hey I'm mutual" thrown in I hate that the one's showing all the signs of grace and humility are expected to carry that grace over in the face of someone who doesn't deserve it. It's like I have to shut up about a promotion I wanted that was given to the boss's son or side piece at the office solely on the grounds of "You're a nice person." like our own virtue should satisfy us. NOT when those without one insist that the promotion or house dad left is theirs. They've gaslit you, told you "don't cause drama", show up when convenient, they'll ultimatum you if they don't get their way and turn the parent you're caring for against you. These people really think the bitterness from the sacrificers are because they didn't help with the groceries. It's deeper than that. Only the sacrificers understand that. But let us voice it and all of our sacrifice is fake all of a sudden. "Ohh so it is about the money" all of a sudden. If you're doing the work to care for a parent, know that I see you and God sees you. You're a blessing even if nobody voices it.

I cried all through this. My mom died when I was younger and her parents raised me after. Her two brothers got EVERYTHING from my grandparents. While i was told, "we didn't plan for you." I took care of both on their deathbed. Wouldn't you know my grandpa told my grandma to change the will after he died but she took her time. Idk why she didn't believe when i told her grandpa made me promise to do for her what i did for him. She didn't believe i would do it bc i was closer to my grandpa. She died before it was signed but the family was still supposed to go by that will. Even the estate lawyer screwed me and i lost the house.
