What size fuse do I need? And why would the fuse keep blowing?
Hi David. The fuse blowing is in indicator of an installation or power supply issue. It's best if you contact [email protected] to find out what's causing your issue.
Superb!
🙂
Thank you ! You saved me from buying a new motor !!!
You are welcome!
This hinge is great! ill never use a weld on hinge again. so easy to make small adjustments and get it perfect every time :).
Definitely the most important part of a gate so we're glad you like them.
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you for the tutorial. I don't understand about wiping. Can you re-use a remote that's been wiped? I have two gates that have the same frequency. And I need to separate the signals on the gates so they don't both open and close with one signal. Can you help me? Thank you.
Hi Paul. When erasing the remote memory, all paired remotes are removed from the gate motor, but can still be paired back to that motor again. Most gate and garage motors in Australia operate off a 433.92mHz frequency but have different internal coding. This means that each motor can be paired individually to remotes.
This is the same as Topens in the U.K and USA but with much better and clearer instructions! Thank you for putting this out there.
Thanks Jamie. We do make some upgrades to these systems, but they're mostly internal. Brass drive nut instead of nylon etc. As for the instructions, our team here re-write everything to make it easier for our DIYers!
Which product? Thank you for the video!
Hi@Sidney. The lubricant we're using in the video is the GRR005 lubricant spay available from any of our Richmond branches. But, any oil based lubricant will be just as good. Just no solvent based lubricants if possible.
How to order
Hi @GabbyAballar. If you contact your closest Richmond branch they will be able to assist. www.richmondau.com/contact
hi what is i need the gate to open 140 degrees can i do that or i need extra accessories
Hi @cocolove. Our swing arms will allow a maximum of 110° based on the mounting position. For a system with 140° you will need a specialist opener. If you contact our gate support team at [email protected] they may be able to assist further.
This is the most pleasant and helpful commercial. Hope your business does well.
Thanks for the feedback! We try to help out our DIYers anywhere we can.
Do you have a technician to pair the remotes??
Hi Sharon. These are designed for DIYers, so we don't have our own repair technicians. Your remotes may just need new batteries. If you're having trouble you can contact our gate support team for further information. You can submit a request at gatesupport.richmondau.com/
What's the horse power rating on the motor?
Hi Thomas. You'll find most gate motors are rated in Watts, not Horsepower. Our GTR156 is rated at 400W. Aside from that, you want to check the Kilogram rating on the motor, as this is a more accurate guide. With a 1200kg rating, the GTR156 is one of the highest capacity residential motors on the market. If you need something with a higher capacity, our 750W/2000KG GTR212 is built for commercial applications.
Hi, any examples fitted to a farm gate? Thanks
Hi Tony, no images of one fitted to a farm gate, but these locks will work great. The main issue with farm gates is the sag that develops over time. This can affect your alignment. Other than that, these locks work great on farm gates. Especially since our improved version was released with the updated low friction latch. They're now more suited to farm gates than ever before. www.richmondau.com/product/electric-lock-to-suit-swing-gate-automation-kits-gtr181/
How i can get the all parrts of this system in Asia nepal
Hi, Unfortunately we currently only sell in Australia and New Zealand.
Que presio tiene el motor y pacuantos kilos es
Hi Mauricio. This swing arm is suitable for gates up to 400kg or 5metres long.
I’m super confused how this works vertically with the gate frame that would normally sit parallel to the adjacent post like two sticks.
Hi Talia. You're correct, in most cases the lock would be fitted horizontally on the gate, with the latch fitted to the post. The lock can be fitted vertically like this, but it's a little outdated and not overly common. We have an updated version of this lock that looks and operates almost the same, but has an improved latching system for easier use in locations where wind gusts are more common. www.richmondau.com/product/electric-lock-to-suit-swing-gate-automation-kits-gtr181/

What’s the purpose E-pluse board? Thanks
Hi @Thatskool. The E-Plus board is used on systems that don't have a built-in timing mechanism for the lock circuit. The E-Plus allows the lock to unlatch for 3 seconds. Most modern systems should have this built-in but the E-Plus board is supplied in case it is required for a non-Richmond system. This is our GTR169 lock, which has been replaced by our GTR181, an updated version for easier opening and latching during windy conditions.
Ok, thanks 😊
You don't mention lubricating the motor, gear reducer or internal chain?
Hi @mediaservices8803. You're 100% correct, and that's because it's not needed. Our motors are greased and sealed so no additional lubrication required. Our cantilever gates don't use a chain (common in USA) and the drive gear shouldn't be lubricated.
Very nice 👍
Thank you Ajmal 👍
Can I add a module to automatically and close the gate at a certain time of day?
Hi abc123birdsandbees, The motors are specifically built using screw terminals and simplified software so that 3rd party accessories can be used. This includes dry contact timers for specific operation times etc. You can also wire in a range of items that allow remote operation from anywhere in the world. If you need any specific wiring or compatibility information you can contact our gate support team. gatesupport.richmondau.com
My outomatic gate brand is ecuteek and I have the difficulty to connect to the motor how can you help me? Thank you.
Hi Rita, thanks for the enquiry. You will need to use the correct remotes for whichever brand motor you are using. You could also fit an external receiver to allow other manufacturers remotes. If you need more information, contact our gate support team at gatesupport.richmondau.com and they will be happy to assist.

Hi Shashvat, You can find us here - www.richmondau.com/contact
Ive just installed this system. When pressing the remote, it moves left then right in about 200mm increments. Not sure whats happening. Any ideas?
Hi viking designs, It sounds like a minor settings issue. If you get in touch with our gate support team they should be able to troubleshoot it with you pretty quickly. You can submit a ticket via gatesupport.richmondau.com and the team will get back to you as quickly as possible.
Should you grease inside the arm where the motor spins that large screw to open the gate? I can't find any info on that. Only ever says to put lithium grease on the outside part of the arm. Surely the inside needs grease?
Hi Scott, The worm drive and drive nut running through the centre of the arm is heavily greased and doesn't require any maintenance. We've purposely enclosed and sealed this section of the arm to stop dirt/dust entering where possible. The main drive nut is brass, so can handle a high number of openings without issue. Some of our test gates have done as many as 50,000 openings in some pretty harsh conditions, and after being inspected, the worm drives are almost as clean as the day they were installed.

Great video thankyou. I have a very thick hardwood gatepost and a gate that has diagonal brace bars (not a horizontal bar like the one in the video). Will this kit still work? Thanks
Hi DirtyHarry, You can probably mount your arm to the diagonal brace bar. If the arm is too high or low on the gate, it may cause some twisting through the hinges so hopefully you can stay close to the middle. If you have any doubts, send a picture through to our gate support team at gatesupport.richmondau.com and they will be happy to take a look.
How do I get GTR156 Automatic sliding gate? I'm from Nigeria

Hi Ardaarikan4080. All of our systems are remote operated, but you can also fit keypads, push buttons or even smart home apps. There's a large range of accessories that can be used with all Richmond motors.
@@RichmondCastors oh thanks how can I buy rhis systems? I m from Türkiye
Hi Ardaarikan. Unfortunately we only have branches in Australia and New Zealand.

Hi annehao100, If you contact our technical support team they should be able to help. Email [email protected] and one of our team members will be happy to assist.
do those bearings need protection from dirt and water from outside?
Hi Hooperwille. These are a sealed bearing, they are protected from dirt and water. You also won't need to lubricate them, although the odd external lubrication won't hurt. You should get as much life out of these bearings as you did from the original set, maybe even more.
What about the lock system? Is lock work automatically?
Hi Pratik, The arm only moves if the electric motor is operating. Once the electric motor stops, the arm stops and is locked, regardless of what position it is in. After that, the gate will only move if something is broken or not fitted correctly.
Good
Glad you liked it Benjamin!
How much
Hey Paul, Pricing will depend on your location, but if you contact your local Bunnings store or closes Richmond Wheel and Castor branch you'll be able to get accurate pricing.
@richmond I am trying to figure out if a pin hitch will bend or articulate properly when taking hills. I have small grade on my back yard and im worried when the tractor begins to go up hill it will bend the trailer, hitch or pin.
Hi Dorian, The pin hitch is standard for an ATV trailer of this type. The loose fit of the pin should allow for operation through a range of angles. If yours is more extreme, you may need to consider a modification to your hitch.
Awesome :)
Hi Kiwigarbo, Glad you like them. We think they're great!
Can you tell me why my go's very slow sometimes. After using remote for a dozen times it then go's fast again?
Hi Bruce, If the motor is travelling slowly, it is resetting it's Open & Close positions. This could happen after a power outage, it was manually moved, or if the spring switch is not contacting the plate correctly or sticking. If you contact our technical team they should be able to help you fairly quickly. Email them at [email protected] or submit a technical enquiry at gatesupport.richmondau.com/
i see the gate shown in the video working, uses magnetic limits, not a spring style, they must degraded back to spring, Don't use a level to get the racking height. Don't use those square washers, Best to use real racking, not baby size three tag, Bugs will nest in that motor and destroy the circuit board where i live.
Hi Home McCrae, 10 years ago we would have agreed with you on some of these things, but technology moves very quickly. Spring switches are much more suited to Australian conditions, and much easier to use compared to magnets. Nylon gear rack is quieter and easier to fit than steel. The nylon is also steel reinforced. Your bug problem is a concern though. It's not something we see a lot due to our motor design. Bugs love moisture and humidity, which means your motor probably isn't being vented correctly. Our motors come with a raised base plate to help with that, but you still need to keep the area around the motor clean and free of water. If you contact our technical team we'll be happy to help you through your next motor selection and install.
What is price
Hi Fairoz, You can currently purchase these motors through any Bunnings store and they should have pricing online. You can also buy them from any of our Australian or New Zealand stores. Email or call us for pricing. www.richmondau.com/contact
Can those be installed on a sloping driveway?
Hi Dylan, These motors can handle a sloped gate, but for safety we recommend a maximum 350kg on a 4 degree slope. This equals roughly a 300mm rise over a 4 metre gate opening. If you contact our technical support team they can help you with more specific advice. You can submit a ticket (with dimensions or images) at gatesupport.richmondau.com/

Hi DJ, Glad it was helpful! If there's anything else you need just let us know :)
How do you pair this with homelink vehicles? I have the same remote and similar gate opener
Hi 4ESTRNR, You will need to contact your vehicle manufacturer for more information. The latest information we received was that Homelink is not designed for use in Australia. If you can provide extra information to our technical team at [email protected] we can look further into it for you.
Can you advise me on what to do if the code light will not turn on I have tried holding down the code sw button for one second two seconds three seconds and tried just pressing I can’t seem to get it to work
Hi Luisa, If you haven't connected the batteries, you won't get any power and the code light will not come on. I suggest contacting our technical team so they can help you troubleshoot your issue. You can submit a support request at gatesupport.richmondau.com
