I want to share my electric vehicle (EV) and solar power experiences and insights, coming from owning Rivian and Tesla vehicles and solar power systems. I own a Rivian R1T truck, a Tesla Model Y (I also previously owned a model 3), Tesla Solar Panels on my roof, a Rivian car charger on the wall, and a Tesla Powerwall house battery charging it all.

A Skydio drone will follow you automatically...perfect for a 1-man show!
What did you air down to?
Hey Alameda! There is a way to get on the big runway, haven't been in a while but we used to sneak back there years ago lol
sand will draw a lot more battery consumption per mile BEWARE expect 25% of normal range on sand
Sir , Very rich and Quality content. This is the first videos of your that i am watching and i love it. I love rivian and i always wanted to know everything about this car. I am bit unlucky cuz maybe i would never own it. Rivian is not thinking about Indian market. But it's ok i am watching this through you.. much love and respect from india 🇮🇳
That button delay could be related to the truck being “asleep” and trying to wake up. Something similar happened during my demo drive. The sales guy was explaining things to me and the car went to “sleep”
Thank you. I was wondering how it looks with drywall / plywood. I did a demo drive recently and I’m in love. And I’ve had 5 Tesla vehicles. Rivian has impressed me very much
Digging the Seiko!
Is that color El Cap?
Gear Tunnel is a really great idea, I hope it will inspire other brands !
Does the SUV have this function?
I'd love one of these trucks - they look so cool and have options that fit my lifestyle. I'm a surfcaster and drive on the beach regularly. My number one question... how will the batteries hold up to all the salty sand going to everywhere. My truck is cleaned after each beach trip - the salt sand gets everywhere, places that I cant even washout out. How will the EV and Batteries hold up to this harsh environment??? Its inevitable there will be wet/damp salt sand. Thanks for sharing - Id like to see the cleanup process and the undercarriage after a day on the beach.
Great Video!!! I pressed the emergency gear tunnel release and now I cannot get the gear tunnel warning message to go away. How did you clear the gear tunnel warning?
Whats the battery life like on soft sand?
Great video. It was the cof-umentary for me 🤣👌
how you will engage the diff kock?
Thank you for this video!
Very informative. Subscribed!
2.7x heavier than my car.
Video very detailed. Been through 2 teslas. Model s and x. They’ve improved range throughout the years and phantom drain. Only downside when traveling is charging. Glad you’ve talked about how accurate the Rivian range compared to Tesla. Going to trade in my Tesla model s for the Rivian R1T. I’ve missed driving in taller vehicles and be able to carry gears.
I just got R1S, but can’t find camp mode triangle symbol/icon anywhere on screen. How did u move it to bottom center or open initially?
Hey Mark! Great video as always! Any reason why you didn’t use the air pump from the Rivian?
Can you fit a set of golf clubs in there without taking any of the clubs out of the bag?
Nice video, but please don’t encourage charging to 100% at DC fast chargers!
That’s uglier then a Tesla.
@2:08 the kid taking the picture of your Rivian haha
Pliny FTW
I wonder if you put a 4 way hose splitter on the line if it would inflate the 4 tires to 48 PSI accurately. I wonder if they would almost equalize as it goes up.
Since this filming the Rivian App lets you open and close the frunk.
What a great video. I’m gonna have to fill mine with ice sooner rather than later. Totally agree about the ability to move the net around to different configurations, and fortunately mine hasn’t snapped despite pulling it pretty tight at times.
22:57 i guess it facing that way makes sense,,, so you dont have to turn 180 with the cable ,, just grab it and step right
If your battery is dead in the key fob, can you unlock the doors?
Rivian will need to switch to Tesla Super chargers and save themselves hundreds of millions trying to make their own network. It is not worth fighting Tesla for charging stations.
Great video! Thanks for all the helpful information. I need to take my R1S out there
Put some ziplock bags over the locks for overnight, solo cup, extra gloves
I am subscriber 1,000!! Congrats!
Thank you for putting me over the top!
Just washed my husbands in the washer hoping it still works
You make such good content. Only problem is that there isnt more
I've had plenty of distractions with kids sports and travel the last few months, but getting back into it now. I should be on pace to put out new videos each week, and I'm going to get into my solar panels and house battery asap. Thanks for watching.
Excellent video
Thank you!
Do you know range affect of a hitch mounted bike carrier with 20' inch rims at highway speeds? Driving from San Diego to Park City with two bikes mounted on the hitch.
If it were on my Model Y, the impact would be significant. I had a bike carrier on it that caused me to lose 50% of my range on a long trip down the 101. Just from wind resistance. It was shocking. But the Rivian is different, with all the weight and its size and its massive battery, the scale of it all, it is far less impacted by variables. If you're towing a boat, yes you will lose noticeable range, but a bike carrier I don't think as much. Maybe factor in about a 10% drop to be safe (270 miles instead of 300). Let me know what you see. Thanks.
These are great! Thanks for making these videos!
Glad you like them!
Charge station on the wrong side? They didn't know their right from their left!
Right? Oh well.
So, actually attaching this today and I got a chance to look at the Yakama made video. Just had to come back and say this is so much better than even the Yakama vide. Thank you again for making this.
Very cool!
Great video! What size Plano box is that?
What up Doe!? Very very nice Rivian video Money Mark! Now your long road trips will be even better with the new non-Tesla available charging at their station 👏👏👏
That's the plan! Thanks Soup!
I usually drop to 10 pound on my truck in sand for the last 20 years and gets way better traction and less fatigue on the truck in your case the battery
I was too afraid to go that far past the manufacturers recommendations. Concerned because the Rivian weighs almost 2X that of a normal truck, and that weight on the rims with reduced protection from the tires could cause a crack. But I agree on your approach, I read from several sites recommending 15 lbs being ideal.
I was at the Sacramento REI adventure chg. station, yes they are backwards, but fast and the store is great.
It is a great stop, i make it even when I dont need to, so I can buy some toys I dont really need :)
Hey Mark. I paused the video just to hop down here and let you know that I really appreciate your approach to your content. Your voice and the tenor that you speak to the audience is very easy to focus on and I can tell you put a lot of thought into the way your structure your your videos. Keep up the good work for as long as it brings you joy.
I appreciate that! Thanks for taking the time to share feedback. I feel I spend too much time on my videos, likely, which is why I dont get a lot of them out there. I hope to soon find a balance where I can put out a video with the same quality but a lot less time filming and editing. Then I can get at least one a week instead of one a month. Thanks again!
Very well done review of drink , very lucky the early makes had the 110v!!
Thanks! 👍
You activated my home Alexa during your video 😂
Sorry!
@@marksevlife 🤣
Is that the Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket?
It is. And I wore it BEFORE Pedro Pascal did in The Last of US :)
