I have a Vihuala 12 string (actual 10 string with one drone and a dummy peg.) with the gut fretting that I want to learn as I'm an acoustic guitarist. It looks like a baroque guitar but it's not. So you've quite inspired me I'm guessing it's in guitar tuning. Good luck and keep posting.

Thank you for your kind words. It's a lute and tuned as a lute but you could play it on your guitar by changing the pitch by a half step on one of your strings. It's not very old. I have a letter from a musicologist from the School of Scottish Studies.. where they state quite clearly that it is 20th century in style. Also the college of piping sent a letter dated 1967, where they state it is modern. No trace of it can be found of it earlier than c 1958, and no recorded version until 1962's BBC TV series, when the title was changed for the TV series.
