Sorry, but I'm not too fond of your cutting skills. It appears that you purposely cut past the apparent stopping point. Why would you purposely ruin any portion of the leftover leather?

The white gloves... are they to keep things more clean and to keep the oil from your hands off of the leather and waxed thread? I ask because no matter how often I wash my hands, the white thread I use always looks a little dirty by the time I am done saddle stitching.

My take? All the results are great, no matter the iron or thread. Anyone would be proud to achieve that level of quality. And the good news is they can! Buy decent tools and thread, learn the proper technique and then practice. I would have liked to see the reverse side for comparison. Some irons tend to provide a better look on the backside, but it can also be impacted by either casting or not casting. Casting is not always a good thing, but in the right circumstances can help improve the aesthetics of the stitching.

Fuck this shit ain’t leather work. You cut a strap and fastened it to a device. You can’t stamp fucking letters on leather and call that leather work.

I discovered a way to stitch with less time/effort. I put the right-hand needle and thread through first, pulling almost all the way tight leaving a small loop just big enough to pinch. Left-hand needle goes through next, "casting" as per usual for a locking stitch, again leaving a small loop just big enough to pinch. The critical step to achieve an aesthetic "slant" on both sides of the piece: you must grab the small loops on each side and pull them down with a little wiggle for good measure. Pull tight - et voilà No stupid awl, no fighting the leather to put the left-side needle in first. On small pieces with short thread I can do a saddle stitch in 6 seconds - 10 stitches a minute. Cheers.

@@WSLEATHERWORKSI just started doing this kind of stuff. We’ll trying at least. And I got some leather that was very hard to cut. Idk how to measure and cut bc the leather is really hard to cut. How do I find leather that I can punch holes in like your doing? U can’t even punch holes in mine. What kind is it?
