    Here’s an idea for you: Just feature new franchises coming into the market and also do a Top 5 or 10 franchises you would recommend in each industry based on your subscribers’ interests. Guaranteed no Cease and Desist letters as those bad companies won’t even be mentioned in your channel. It’ll be a Win-Win!

    Thanks for the comment! I wish it were that easy 🙂 There are unique variables in every buyer situation that can make or break a business. Local demographics, operator abilities, local competition, staffing, exit strategy, budget, etc. We typically conduct 20-30 hours of research before we make a recommendation to a buyer. The same franchise could be great in one situation and terrible in another. Nobody should have to be their own Doctor, Lawyer or Franchise expert. Buyers can just call us all our services are provided at no charge (like a Realtor) www.franchise.city/our-services

    I'm the former President of Auntie Anne's. I think you need to look a bit deeper at these brands before you come to your simple conclusions. Yes, Auntie Anne's closed stores last year. Largely because their early-stage growth focused on enclosed malls which were performing well at the time. If you haven't noticed, malls are struggling, particularly during Covid. That's not due to flaws in the Auntie Anne's business model. If you look at the sales to investment ratio, Auntie Anne's is excellent. Shaq did own some Auntie Anne's locations, which was a mistake by the company. He closed them and claimed that "Black people don't like pretzels." An insane comment. Finally, had you bothered to look at Auntie Anne's Item 19 disclosure, their total cost of goods including paper is less than 20%. If you can name another QSR or snack food brand with that gross margin, let me know.

    I can name another (actually several) better QSR or food brands. Just letting you know. Also just a heads up - always check the dates on videos. Then it would be obvious we weren't covering Auntie Anne's closures from "last year" as this video was uploaded in 2020, long before Shaq announced that he dumped his stores. Blaming closures on "the malls" is the zero accountability attitude we have come to expect from franchisors. Whose idea was it to put stores in malls? If your business model focuses on going into failing malls then yes, that's on you. I actually did bother to look at the FDD. As of the making of this video the 2019 version, Issuance date March 28 amended on June 6th was the most recent one available. Yes, the Cost of Goods back then was actually lower than 20%, so congratulations on pumping those rookie numbers up today, but median systemwide net operating income (the number people actually care about) was only 17.7%, or $85,814 for mall stores. And net store closures had already started in 2018 according to the item 20. Did I miss Covid-18? There were 63 stores listed as terminated or not renewed just in that year alone. 63!

    When the color of your skin gives you a benefit or a detractor, it's discrimination no matter how you slice the "cake" . A person cannot choose what color they are, and one color/ race should not get special treatment just because they look a certain way even though they may be equal in all other respect to means and abilities.

    Thanks for watching! What happened: We turned off monetization on every video back then, but viewers said they were still seeing ads. Apparently even if you demonetize your video KZread still places ads and they just keep all the money. So if there are ads shown no matter what we just turned on monetization again a few weeks later so at least YT isn't keeping it all.

    That's how you know that you guys are very effective at what you do, But here's a suggestion how about making a video to show aspiring investors where to look for this information and what to look for when you receive the documents, since these franchises are acting like you are providing illegal information, because there would be nothing illegal about that. So how about it @franchiseCityOnline ? (I love to see that video)

    Thanks! the problem with people doing it solo is there are so many things to know, each industry has different challenges, there are demographic considerations, their operational abilities, proper financing, exit strategy, creating financial projections, each FDD is 200+ pages long, and they wouldn't have access to the insider data that we are exposed to being in the industry. We hear of a lot of the nasty things that happen that often aren't publicized. It would be like learning to become your own lawyer or doctor. I have been in commercial real estate as a principal broker for over 20 years and own NNN properties nationally. The tenant is one of the LAST things I look at as LANDLORD. I look at the DIRT most importantly. If the tenant goes dark is the rent replaceable with my release costs ( tenant improvements, leasing commissions, attorney fees, lost rent downtime, etc.) In alot of cases it is not and the person buying these properties to own for passive income with the tenants in place can lose millions. Commercial developers hold the strongest tenants to keep in portfolio unless someone pays a crazy low cap rate and super high price. The stuff they let go for higher cap rates is weak tenant, over market rents, and inferior dirt locations. They cull the crap from their portfolio. It amazes me the stuff people buy either a franchise to run and operate or the real estate and land on the landlord side. I typically only like a handful of properties out of the thousands I review each week nationally. The rest are overpriced junk. Most QSR restaurants when times were good had 15 to 20% profit margins off of gross sales. No many closing down or might eek out 5% to 7% a year. If you are doing that might as well own the real estate instead and stay passive instead of dealing with lots of employees to run a business.

I see this video as a direct response to my request from yesterday. I did watch the video link that you shared. I think it is very cool and professional that you made this 5 minute video to explain why you couldn't review the company that I requested yesterday. I didn't think I would get a response. I posted in a community post that was a few years old. Thank you again for responding. I watched a documentary on the business that I asked about and it's not doing well. It's privately owned and the investment company is spending billions to make it relevant to take it public again. That company went bankrupt in the early 2000s and also in 2020. I actually go there and enjoy the business, but it doesn't seem like a solid investment. Sadly. Keep up the great videos. I look forward to seeing them. Again, thank you for responding so quickly. Had been meaning to do this video for a while - so thanks for the reminder! Yes, that franchise has experienced quite a few issues, and the market in general with larger footprint "sit down" establishments have been mostly seeing a steady decline. From what I heard they are now more focused on international expansion vs the USA. Inflation has also been disproportionately hitting margins in the food industry.

  • @AnthonyIsToeKnee
    @AnthonyIsToeKnee7 күн бұрын

    @@FranchiseCityOnline I also heard that they are looking to expand outside the USA. I have young kids and I've thought about how cool it would be to run over of those businesses. Unfortunately, it's not looking good. The video I watched was on a series on KZread called bankrupt. Maybe they'll come back. I don't know. There are plenty of successful businesses, that we all recognize, that have been bankrupt. We'll see what the next decade brings for them. I am curious to know what you have in store for your channel now without reviews? I genuinely enjoy learning about them. I also agree that it's not with putting out that content for minimal profit on KZread.
