    That Wonder Woman #49 is really interesting... In Superman Red Son (the Russian version), Superman makes a move on Wonder Woman after stating how powerful their kids would be... however... he's rejected as Wonder Woman states she comes from an island of women... what do you think 😆

    Thanks you Allen for answering my question on this video. Great and informative video as always! Here's my question for next week. How did you pack your comics for moving to prevent them from being damaged? I see that you have so many books and not all of them are slabbed so those can be susceptible to damage while moving.

    Hi Allen. I love golden age yellow covers... but unfortunately a lot of them have ink/text transfer from the inside front cover showing through to the front cover itself on the yellow portions of the cover. What causes this & have you noticed that in auctions that this could be a deterrent for buyers, effecting it's long term value? Thank you 😊.

    The volume on this and some of your videos is very low, so we have to turn the tv volume way up to hear it- then a commercial comes on and scares the hell out of us because the volume is back to normal, like it is for commercials and all other peoples youtube video= call a youtube tech and have them tell you how to fix this

    Are there any indie comic characters you feel could become mainstream? If you had to choose between good girl covers and bad girl covers and you could only collect one, which would it be? As always, your knowledge is much appreciated.

    "Bad economy" can be a personal thing. What may be bad for you may be just fine or great for someone else. At the moment, the US economy is anything but "bad", it's doing rather well by most economic indicators and a lot better than the rest of the planet. Maybe inflationary pressure, but nowhere near as high as it was in say the 70's or 80's. Comic prices spiked during the boom because people in the US had a lot of pandemic cash, time on their hands, etc. Now we're back to "normal", as far as comic prices go, with slow, mostly steady increases on OLDER books once they've reached their pre-boom price range. Speculators and investors be damned, but that's the way most of us true lovers of the medium prefer things. I hope all you slabbing, speculating, investors lose your asses and go away crying. I'll reap the reward of buying your stuff at reasonable prices! If all else fails, blame Canada!

    Coupling the success / love of comics to how good the movie counterpart is has always struck me as foolish. I get it. I've benefitted from it. But I don't *really* get it. Why do this? Why tie the value of a comic to how good the movie is (or isn't)? It makes no sense to me when I think about it. Is it seen as a validation of the comic? Does that mean it was worthless before the movie? It really doesn't add up to me. The biggest factor keeping the younger generation out of comics is price of new books, the overwhelming size of canon they need to hack through in order to catch up, and a very tough economy. Entertainment comes last when times are tough. Readers today are shrinking pull lists because bills are going up, with cover prices also going up. Guess who loses that battle? And those of us lucky to have a home to store our collection are in for a shock when we wake up to the reality that the next gen likely won't have that option. With housing prices going the way they are, who would sacrifice even a small piece of their space for a collection of stuff they can't afford? So....for those of us who intend to sell our collection to the next generation some day...how confident are you that there will be a vibrant market to sell it to? The quality (perceived or real) of the movies and shows could be #2 on the list, but economy (present and future) is #1, with #2 being waaaaaaaaaay behind....almost to the point of not being relevant. We make it relevant because it's easier for us to talk and rant about....most of us aren't economists with a crystal ball.

    If you simply collect and the organic outcome of that Hobbie adds value to what you have, then at least you may recoup your base monies. If it was supposed to be an investment, you would have bought and sold that item many time, like stocks and maybe bonds. Even real-estate depends on location. If you property taxes are 16k a years, maintenence, utilities, etc... eats that gorgeous profit you expected in 5 to 10 years. Some get lucky others generally lose.

    I think we're missing great animated shows that can propel the new generation into reading comics. I'm just basing this on how Batman, Xmen, and Spiderman animated series back in the '90s got me into reading comics. I'm sure Spiderman and His Amazing friends, Super Friends and others have done the same for the previous generation of readers. That and lowering prices again can save the comic industry in the long run.

    #1 - The Work for Hire Contract. Allowing corporations to own the IP instead of creators means the IP will eventually be published into oblivion and the character diluted. #2 - I agree with Movies, but... More of the transition of the superhero from the comic book to the big screen as a means of consumption. For many younger people, Miles Morales exists primarily as a movie character rather than a comic book character. Miles Morales on the page is not the same as Miles Morales on the screen, just as Toby Maguire and not the Steve Ditko drawing is Peter Parker to a lot of fans. It's conditioned people to consume superheroes via the screen as opposed to a comic book. #3 - Social Media. Everything meant to be entertaining should be able to be consumed on a smartphone and "free". This is (unfortunately) the entertainment paradigm we've moved towards.

    1) what kid can afford a single comic for $4/$5.? And if they like multiple titles, they are completely priced out. 2) Manga is the younger generation’s preferred comic. Also, kids prefer video games over reading. 3) Weak storylines, changing characters’ sexual orientation

    I honestly don't care about CVA stickers, but I know those books tend to go for more than non-CVA books. Personally, I think it's a money-grab. I may start a company that verifies that CVA's verification of CGC's grade is good. lol. 🤣 Too many stickers on slabs nowadays with Metropolis, ComicLink, etc. also putting their stickers on them, not to mention CGC putting "provenance" stickers and stuff on them.

    Heritage seems to have lots of stupid customers. Many times I've seen books sell for more on Heritage than what the same book/grade is priced at on ebay/mcs. Or maybe they dont realize there's a buyers premium even though its pretty obvious.

    Another reason I like this channel. 1. You choose unique books, not the same cookie cutter keys I see over and over on other youtube channels. 2. You give interesting commentary. 3. Golden Age Books are not full proof investments. I lost a good chunk of change selling one. It was my fault though. Sold mine less than a month after another went up on auction. Should have waited.

    Here are my thoughts regarding CVA. If I think that the book presents well for the grade and it appeals to me, with or without the CVA sticker, I may be willing to pay more for that book. The CVA sticker is a nice "confirmation" about my decision. But I won't automatically pay more for a CVA sticker if I don't agree with their assessment.

  • @Doc_Dooom
    @Doc_Dooom3 күн бұрын

    That CVA sticker is on that GSX1 9.9 and it looks like a 9.8. And how does a 9.9 get a CVA sticker anyway?... Are they saying it looks like a 10? I think its a big sham.
