When I went to Japan last month Sushiro straight up removed the conveyor belt sushi. You can now only order. what you want and no taking a gander at what run by.

Ah, Japan in the 80's! Infinite money time! 1988 was basically the apex of the bubble. By 1991 they were in a slump that lasted to this day... And probably beyond.

9:09 They're not speaking "in between" their growing and grunts. They are mixing-in their speaking WITH their so-called growing and grunts, which is not uncommon for angry Japanese men, although they do it to the extreme. This combined with their funny-sounding regional dialect makes this particularly hilarious.

The train station is actually interesting, it's a Dogū, specifically one from that town, they are funky looking pottery figurines from the Jōmon period of Japanese pre-history, which are potentially the first humans in japan and were certainly the first settled group, present until the Yamato culture (oldest properly proto-japanese culture) displaced them between the 700 and 300 B.C. The Emishi of nortern Honshu (present until 700-1000 A.C.) and the still extanct Ainu of Hokkaido are thought to be be the most direct descendants of the Jōmon.

Copper kills bacteria, and most bad odors are caused by bacteria. There is another use for this trick: Put a copper coin in flower water and the flowers will live longer. The reason flowers can die early is because bacteria start to clog their water channels so they can no longer draw water from the vase. This doesn't happen as long as the flowers have roots, because the roots don't allow bacteria to get in, but once the flowers are cut, the water channels are exposed and easily accessible. Copper in the water kills bacteria but does not harm the flowers. The alternative is to periodically cut off the lower parts of the flowers by an inch or so to free up the channels. Of course, you can only do this so many times because the flowers will get smaller and the whole bouquet will look worse.
