    Sounds great compared to some guy's idea of a date which is where you sit on their couch watching them play a video game. If someone is genuinely interested in me and is kind to me, then I really don't care where we eat whether it's waffle house, saizeriya, macdo or a picnic with home made food.

    When I was 19 and attending fashion school I made oven baked garlic and oven baked potatoes. I was eager to try the oven baked garlic where you just slice the whole bulb in half and put some oil onto it. The whole appartement smelled of garlic but I got noseblind to it the next morning. I got on the bus in the morning and it was packed, standing room only, smooshed against someone else. Less than a meter away I hear two people talking to each other "wow, someone ate garlic for sure". It was at that moment I realized I reeked of garlic. At first I thought "but I showered and brushed my teeth" but then remembered that garlic smell comes out through your skin or something. That whole day I was super self conscious and feared someone would say something.

    I always find i ridiculous when girls expect a foreigner to know things he cannot know. Like taking a girl to that particular family restaurant. How can a foreigner possibly know it this restaurant has a bad reputation. It just shows how egocentric and narrow minded that girl was. I mean if she came to your country you wouldn´t expect her to know what restaurants have a godd or bad reputation right.

    Any foreigner that spent some time in Japan knows that As he said, it was when he just arrived there Dating foreigners is already real hard (not for nothing that most Japanese/foreigner couples fail) if on top of that the foreigner knows nothing about the local dating customs, there will be so much frustration on both side that it can't work. Remember that by dating a Japanese citizen in Japan you accept the rule of the game, if you don't want to then just date an other foreigner (which is actually what a lot of foreigners in Japan end up doing)

    I think that woman was unsatisfied with your date because people of her age probably have much different expectations than someone who is 19 years old, and both of you failed to realize that; maybe it's more so her fault because she's older and has probably been there before. Like, when you're 19 you might as well still feel like you're a high school student. On a date? McDonalds is kinda the norm, and for a certain economic level it actually might be a treat!

    Our general rule as a couple is whoever's idea it is for the date pays a little more and has the option to pay for the other. If they pay all of it, the other one pays for the next date (obviously it's also their date idea too). If it's both of our idea and both planned it, we usually have no issues splitting the bill. Just communicate and don't be afraid to talk about it. Assumption is poison in relationships.

  • @Alternatives_Universum

    @Alternatives_Universum

    But the person planning the date has more work than the person just joining the date. So isn´t it unfair if the person who´s idea the date is has to plan everything AND pay? It would be fairer if one person plans and one pays.

    @@sskhussaini Not really. You have to propose an activity to the girl. If she likes it you can go on with your planning. If she doesn´t like it she will reject your proposal and you can look for a different activity. This goes on until you submit a proposal to the girl that she likes and accepts. So you cannot do what you actually like. You have to find something that the girl likes. If you are lucky she likes the same activity which you also like. If you are unlucky you have to prepare a trip that is in her interest, but not so much in yours.

    For me, the guy (me) always pay for the date unless the girl physically pulls out the bank card, as otherwise it would just descend into a verbal fight, albeit polite. Still I won't go to expensive restaurants unless the the girl did something above and beyond, and I'm feeling in the mood to reciprocate. The biggest reason isn't cost (although that can be a big reason, especially if wine is considered - I don't drink on dates) but that formal restaurants won't allow the guy to sit alongside the girl, and that's needed for physical contact, which gets the intimate attraction going.

My dad took me to the hospital to see him and his mum 1 day after he was born and upon entering the room I mistook the woman in the first bed as his gf who I had known for 2 years at that point. I congratulated her and sat on her bed. It wasn't until my dad looked at me in confusion and told me that I was talking to the wrong person and that his gf and my brother were in the bed next to her. Don't say "compared to the west" when talking about paying. In Scandinavia women find it offensive if you insist on paying the entire bill. It's most common to split the bill, but many people also have an agreement that "the person who invites out pays". I find it often when people say "the west" they refer to the Anglosphere (USA, UK, Australia...) only.

Now days loads of women have jobs and money and therefore there is no reason for men to have to pay for the meal. For first dates, a somewhat fancy cafe is the best location imo. It's not going to be that expensive, so you can easily pay the whole bill and just avoid thinking about it beforehand. If it was an expensive restaurant or something like a trip to Disneyland, I'd split the bill, because - it's the first date. I'm open to paying for something like that a bit later when it's clear that there is some chemistry/mutual attraction/potential for a real relationship, but for someone that I don't even really know yet? Nah - even if they are cute, first dates are too much of a gamble for that.

    I certainly picked up the bill for my partner when we were initially going out, however once we became a proper couple, we almost always split the bill. Every now and again, I’ll spontaneously say :「僕のおごりです。」(It’s my treat.) In turn, sometimes she buys things for me, which I never would’ve expected dating someone back in the western world. Lastly, the Saizeriya thing is absolutely hilarious. Not being ironic, I love the place and sometimes get cheap pizza and wine with my partner there. Luckily, she’s not picky with restaurants either, ha ha.

    In high school, I was gonna ask this girl to homecoming and as I was approaching her from behind going down the stairs, I fell down literally when I was about to start talking and she saw me and then I def had no courage after that. So I just left it as is. We didn’t know each other well either so she prolly just glanced and was like “whatever”. And as a senior, this big dude in my class yelled from the back when I was talk to the teacher, “he’s wearing a girl coat”. And everyone just laughed. Prolly doesn’t sound that bad but for someone who cares about how they look and dress, this was the last blow I needed before graduating

    It's called "Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Aarahende!!" It's a late night variety show that's been on the air since the '80s. The "No Laughing" challenges were a yearly special they did from 2003-2020. It has a large following outside of Japan, and many episodes have been subtitled. The websites Gaki Archives and ChikiChikiTube have most of the translated episodes.

    Me and my brother used to live in an apartment, and we didn't lock the door because it felt secure with the building's guard not allowing strangers to enter. One afternoon, I was playing on my Xbox 360, and my brother was on the PC in the living room. Suddenly, the main door of our unit opened, and a woman entered, talking on the phone. Unaware, she continued towards the stairs. As she reached the second floor, she realized it was the wrong unit, she hurried back down, and caught us staring at her wide eyes. She apologized profusely, and we couldn't help but laugh so fucking loud i think she hear us laughing outisde 😂 me and my brother was dying. worst part is that both of us is only wearing boxers xD idk if embarrassing for her or us.

    This is why more and more Japanese men are living alone. Japan is generally considered to be a male-dominated society, but when it comes to relationships, it's totally different. Men pay for almost everything, and women demand higher income and even more educational background from men. If you look at matrimonial websites in Japan, it's pretty hellish. Men demand nothing from women but many women expect men to earn two to three times the average income, and many women will not marry a man who is not a doctor. And in the home, the wife controls almost all of her husband's income. Surprisingly, Japan has the highest proportion of wives controlling their husbands' income in the world. Marriage in Japan means that men lose almost all their freedom and work like slaves every day for their families. No wonder many Japanese men do not marry and live alone with such a situation.

    months ago, I went to the video of a site called italki. i was doing a section where i explained why japanese people don't make good friends and a weird japanese girl was answering me, who is from osaka. she explains that a number of Japanese people are attracted to foreigners. but she never explains how we could meet them. she made other answers, every time someone talks about a dating site, the girl said that it's not possible, that the Japanese avoid answers from foreigners... I didn't understand. I followed him on his channel recently to talk about his shades, but my comments aren't showing up. is it a cookie issue? I would like to talk about this with someone reasonable, who does not know me, without bad faith. this is not a troll, please can someone explain this girl's problem to me?
