Do you have any advice for improving mobility to get the elbow pointing up? My racket drop and overall serve is nice but I struggle getting my elbow to point straight up during the racket drop, it tends to point out at a 45 degree angle instead of straight up creating that nice upside down L shape that all the pros have.

Is a run up legal for a serve? If yes why does no pro do that regularly? Bc in Volleyball you hit the ball with a similar technique like your serve in tennis and in Volleyball everyone uses a run up for their serve to give it more spin make it Harder and hit it faster. But also with a run up you can jump even higher for your serve and could hit it at an even steeper angle

He didn’t say wind up. You get more power and topspin btw when you flip the racket as he shows and you swing using the swing path he shows. You start the swing close to your body but swing away from your body in an arc. It’s called an inside out swing path because you start close to your body but swing out up to contact. Great video because it finally shows clearly where to start before flipping the racket.

Change to continental grip and focus on pronating (check the time as if you have a watch in your dominant hand after contact). Hitting your shins most of the time is due to a forehand grip on the serve

I finally got this technique after practicing on the ball machine a lot. I practiced with the arm straightened already like macci teaches his kids. It made my preparation earlier so helped with my timing too. I feel the acceleration from the flip. The important thing is to straighten out the arm , not hit with a small backswing.
