    Here is a noble IDEA ... GET OFF YOUR PHONE AND PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS ... This way you can avoid the NEED to have one chambered for that last second because YOU were not paying attention. By paying attention, you MIGHT have time and space to avoid using the gun.

    Not particularly effective are red dots at most combat distances of five yards or less. Not enough time for the average EDC person. Need to watch Ken Hackathorn's video on the effectiveness of red dots at close quarters. At longer distances, they are very effective with lots of training.

    FMJ is most definitely designed for poking holes in people, and it does it very well. The problem is it pokes holes in more than just the person you want to poke holes in.

    So he's showing a scenario where there is less than a second to get a shot fired without one in the pipe? How about this.....try pocket carryng a Glock with small children and pets often jumping in your lap, or grabbing at your leg. Believe me, when those circumstances are prevalent I think it only wise to carry on an empty chamber. Any other time, carrying with one in the chamber is the way to go. In other words, there ARE limited circumstances where carrying one in the chamber is not wise. How wise is it to carry one in the chamber with any type of firearm when you are often being touched/groped by small children? I'll take my chances by keeping one out of battery regardless what the so called "experts" have to say. In any circumstance where I feel threatened, I will THEN and only THEN , rack one into battery. Always be aware of your surroundings and think for yourself on such important issues.

    Not having a round in the chamber makes carrying a firarm almost pointless. Why would you carry a gun that isn't immediately ready for use. Statistically self-defense gun use is overwhelmingly within 9 yrds. That means the decision to use your firearm will be within seconds. The extra second to rack your slide to chamber a round will get you killed. Not to mention people underestimate the effects of adrenaline. When shit gets real and that tunnel vision kicks in, palms are sweaty as hell while your heart is racing... It's not that easy to even draw your gun cleanly, let alone draw clean and rack the slide without slipping off. I dont care how often you train. Real life, while your own life is at risk is just different. Everyone thinks they're john wick 😂. And if you're worried about shooting yourself if you have one in the chamber, then i would suggest you get more comfortable around guns before you start carrying. A gun is never going to accidentally go off. It can be a neglagent discharge but that comes down to the person, not the tool. A gun won't go off unless you pull that trigger. No mechanical failure will fire your gun randomly.

    Would you point a chambered gun at yourself ??? Would you oint a chambered gun at a loved one ??? Are you that confident that it WONT go off while you point it at SOMEONE even with your finger NOT on the trigger ??

    Whatever the choice one makes, make sure they are tested in your EDC or defensive firearm. Just because one type works with one particular gun for one person doesn't mean it will work for someone else, even in the same gun. Try various makes and lines to find out what works best in your gun. Lots of variables here including what type of magazine as well that is used. Lots of people recommend HSTs, but HSTs run horribly with feed issues in my FX9 carbine. Out of my FPC, it runs perfectly. Yet others have no issues with running HSTs on their FX9 carbines. Until I tested it myself, I just presumed it would work without issue. Glad I put it through its paces.

    "Ammunition, I've always put it in the manufacture's box, in that same suitcase that my smaller locking box is holding my firearm in." - I appreciate this video's timing. Just wasted an hour trying to figure out, "But where do I keep the ammo, if it cannot be within the locked box?". You had the shortest video, but it had the information I was looking for. Thank you.

  • @Tulster
    @TulsterАй бұрын

    We got it WRONG in the video and article about the ammo placement. I'm not too clear if the rules changed over the years but as of today you can have the ammo inside the same locking box as the firearm. The magazines AND firearm MUST be unloaded. I've always placed my ammo in the original manufacture's box. Now, I've heard of guys getting away with their magazine being fully loaded and out of the firearm, BUT I don't like taking chances. I hope this helps.

    @@Tulster appreciate it. I asked on a FB group as I still had reasonable doubt due to the contradictory verbiage of the TSA's ruling on it. Where it mentions in the Firearm transport, ammo cannot be stored together. But in the Ammo transport section it said it could. It boiled down to intent. That you can transport in the same lock box as the firearm as long as the ammo is within the other listed specified boundaries. Not in the mag if the mag is not "sealed" (have to tape em, but then you have adhesive residue). I'm going to just grab an Apache 1800, store the P365 Grip mod standing up, slide removed and next to it, 2 mags and a small box of Federal HST. And two government locks on each corner.

  • @Tulster
    @TulsterАй бұрын

    @@BluestarP3D That's exactly what I did. It wasn't necessary, but I even put a Cable Gun Lock on the firearm (for visual inspection - showing there was no magazine or round in the chamber) as well. I just didn't want any rubs or issues while checking the firearm at the counter. Unfortunately, most of the employees checking these items don't know anything about firearms.

  • @BluestarP3D
    @BluestarP3DАй бұрын

    @@Tulster you think the lock would be necessary with the slide pulled off? You're reminding me of how ignorant people are when it comes to firearms... I even thought screw it, take the recoil spring and barrel out, too. But who knows at that point what they're going to say when they just see nothing that looks remotely like a firearm in the xray machine...

    What is the difference between free economy shipping and ground advantage?

  • @Tulster
    @TulsterАй бұрын

    @thepoliticallyindependent1512- USPS Ground Advantage is a shipping service that offers free package pickup.It's often used for non-urgent shipments when cost is a factor, and it's the most cost-effective USPS option for items under one pound. Ground Advantage is slower than other USPS services, with delivery times of 2-5 business days depending on distance and destination. However, it does offer tracking and can ship to all 50 states, U.S. military bases, and more.

    Thanks for the great video. Most of the so-called experts will tell you that open carry is not a good idea, and their list of reasons goes on and on. They are entitled to their opinion. Opinions are like belly buttons. Everybody has one. I grew up in a high crime area and I knew all of the bad people, the smart ones and the stupid ones. None of them wanted to get shot. Open carry is like a sign on the fence that says, “beware of the dog.” I've traveled armed for more than 50 years, openly since 1985 and I will never know how many times trouble has taken a detour rather than confront an old man with a gun. I am 87 years old but the 45 on my side makes me 10 feet tall. It's my personal sign that says beware, this old dog still bites. Unarmed people are a much safer target. Recently, local law enforcement, being uninformed about the state statute that allows open carry with the proper permit, chose to challenge the validity of my decision. They firmly believed that open carry was against the law in the state of Rhode Island. I was threatened with arrest and possible jail time. Eventually the city solicitor was able to convince the Police Department that what I was doing was perfectly legal and that their opinion about my reason didn't matter. On the plus side, this was the first time since I started carrying openly 38 years ago that law enforcement even noticed me. Rhode Island has a population of over 1,000,000 and only 3500 people were issued a permit to carry. That's less than half of 1%. Many people with permits don't know that they are allowed to open carry or are afraid of reprisal from the Police if they do. I have never seen another Rhode Islander open carrying. I will no longer argue the point. My reasons are personal, and I no longer choose to share them or argue the validity of my actions. My reasons are none of your business. The only pertinent question is, “is it legal?” When asked “What are you afraid of?” My reply has always been, - Nothing.

    Since I started carrying a firearm, I have always carried one up. My firearms in storage are empty chamber with no magazine. I always know the condition of my firearms (especially my EDC). One up is the way to go with my EDC as you can practice as much as you like and you might be able to get 2 second times on a range with draw, rack, aim and shoot, but all and all, the attacker comes towards you with a weapon that's already drawn and if the attacker is using a firearm it's already one up and drawn, placing you at a huge disadvantage. Doing 2 second draws and rack on a range is one thing doing it consistently is impossible in real life, one being having to draw and rack in awkward spaces as attackers tend to attack when you are in the worst spaces like in your vehicle. So I have my EDC set up with one up and I spent good money on a high quality kydex holster as the holster is a safety of the system I have that consists of a CZ P10S.
