Type 2 diabetes gets worse and worse the more fatty your liver becomes. Once alive is so fatty that it gets some scarring it is so impaired that it can no longer properly help maintain blood sugar. I got a fatty liver after hormone changes at menopause and got autoimmune hypothyroidism. The doctors did not teach me what to do to reverse fatty liver other than say lose weight. This was very bad advice. I went on keto and it destroyed my gallbladder and I went from a fatty liver with no scarring to a scarring level of 8. Full blow cirrhosis which is not reversible and leads to liver cancer has a scarring level of 13. Still the doctors and hospital dietician had no specific liver failure advice and I was losing muscle fast and diabetes ot of control. I researched Canadaas I’m in USA and researche University of Chicago as they had the latest research. I ditched as much saturated fat as possible and began eating the recommended omeg 3 and extra virgin cold pressed olive oil. Quit using any artificial ingredients at all Eve maltodextrine and such in spices. Ditched diet soda. Switched to low fat low carb milk and cheese, chicken fish and lots of veggies especially green ones and dandelion greens. 2.5 months later I had lost 10 pounds and the scarring was gone and diabetes lowered 20 points on my daily blood dl. My A1c never was bad. Just after meal spikes was destroying my liver. No eating after 8 pm, krill oil and cod liver oil and vitamin d. Was required to walk5,000 steps per day. Almost no fruit except12 carbs of it at a tie and only once a day as fructose can’t be metabolized by insulin. Fructose is the only sugar that must be broken down by the liver which puts extra work and strain on it. Same with artificial sweetners. Fructose taxes the liver as much as alcohol. I still am overweight and have fatty over but I am still working to keep my blood sugar low. Trans fats from coffee mate or fried things and seed oils and omega 6 oils are hard on the liver. The olive oil has compounds to break down the fat in the liver and heal it. Saturated fat caused my blood sugar to start creeping up during my sleep months later. It takes about 6 or 8 months for the damage to show up. I like everyone else had great bloodwork at first with let bit it the end it backfired on me. I can’t eat saturated fats. I also can’t eat starchy things not even beans. I can only have 1/3 cup beans or peas without spiking my blood sugar. My liver enzymes were perfect the whole time. I only discovered I was headed for cirrhosis when I got an elastoscan sonogram done on my over and it showed the scars. Hope this helps others. I was recommended to eat the editeranian diet but low in carbs, mostly veggies, very little fruit and eat a few tablespoons olive oil. I Lao consumed low fat plain kefir and plain Chobani fat free yogurt.

I have lost 2 sensors in the row due to the bad adhesive. One after another, after about 5-6 days from insertion. And that's not a first time, it happens a lot. I stopped my swimming sessions due to the sensors peeling off the skin. In fact even a shower is enough to get overlay patch very soggy and just start coming off. I'm so fed up with this that I have started looking for alternatives. I had one G7 sensor with nice strong adhesive and I thought perhaps all of them will be like this from now on, but unfortunately that's not the case. I'm quite active, cardio or weights training sessions or both almost every day. Apparently that's too much for G7 sensors. It can have 100 amazing features and so what, if it can't even stay on your skin. For me G7 it's rubbish just for that reason! New medtronic looks promising though. If I could only get a sample to try it out it would be great.

I've been a Freestyle Libre 14 user for several years now. A month or so ago my old Samsung Galaxy died, so my wife and I did our customary cell phone swap - which means that I get her old cell phone and she gets a brand new one. Anyway, since I was going to have to migrate all of my apps to a new phone I decided to upgrade my CGM to a Libre 3. As I'm a retiree and live in the USA, I get my CGMs through Medicare on a 90-day cycle. So I contacted my doctor and he wrote a new prescription for the Libre 3, which would go into effect at my next 90-day refill. Finally the day arrived that I could start my first Libre 3 sensor. I installed the app, applied the Libre 3 sensor and activated it. After the one-hour warm-up I started getting good readings on my phone! At about midnight I was awakened by an error message that instructed me to replace the sensor. So I did so. Of course I had to wake up an hour later to activate it, but next morning I was back in business. Called Abbott Labs and they sent a replacement. 14 days later I applied my next sensor, but when I tried to activate it I received an error message that my software was incompatible. I called Abbot's Customer Service line, and they sent me a new sensor. I applied another sensor out of my dwindling supply, activated it, and was good for 14 days. That third 14 day cycle just started now. I applied my 5th sensor out of my supply, and got another error message. Another call to Abbott. Another new sensor on the way - I currently have two replacement sensors en-route. But I finally figured out the problem. When the cell phone dealer migrated all of my dead cell phone's apps and data over to my hand-me-down phone, they upgraded my Android Version to 14! Abbott hasn't certified the Libre 3 for an OS version newer than 13. Why one sensor activates just fine and the next one doesn't is a mystery. But a 50% failure rate is intolerable. As it happens, my sister-in-law just started with the Dexcom G7. She has exactly the same Samsung S24+ cell phone as do I, and it's Android version 14, just like mine. She is well pleased with her Dexcom. I checked Dexcom's web site and as far as I can tell, my phone is compatible with the Dexcom G7. I asked my doctor to switch me over again. We'll see how that goes. When I got my first shipment of Libre 3s they also included a Reader for the Libre 3. I've been using that for my Libre 3 until I eventually run out of Libre 3 sensors.

I remember hearing several years ago about research into an implantable CGM where you would have a minor procedure to implant the sensor (similar to having a pacemaker installed, under your collarbone, perhaps) and then it would last for many years without additional intervention. Imagine being able to KNOW your blood glucose with 100% accuracy without any kind of finger sticks, worn devices that need replacement all the time, worry about getting wet or bumped around during sports...? HEAVEN. I love the new G7 (so tiny, so much easier to change than the G6) but what I would love most of all would be never having to worry about my dog pawing off my CGM, or having to get reauthorized for the next version. Just look at my watch and make decisions about food and insulin. We've made amazing progress in my lifetime (I remember when a young T1 friend used to have to use test strips to find out how much sugar was spilling into her urine. Finger sticks glucometers didn't come out for another 10 years. YIKES.) But we can always have more and better innovation, right?

My endocrinologist preferred me to use the Dex 7 so I switched from the Lib #3. The dex lost the connection with the app 20 times over my last 24 hours. I never lost connection with Lib #3. That was a big deal. My Lib #3 seemed to give me a lot more freedom as I needed to have the Dex 7 very close at all times. When my Dex was on my right arm, I also needed to make sure that my phone was on the right side. When initiating the sensor, the Dex did not recognize the QR code on the box not was activated with the code # on the applicator. I needed to call customer support and they gave me a # that thankfully worked. I know Dex is attempting to clean up these problems, but I am going back to Libera 3 asap..
