@@TypeOneTalksI was able to get the Sugar Pixel ordered just in time for my son to open it for Christmas, he's had it setup since the 25th and we absolutely love it. He has it setup right under his gaming monitor so he doesn't have to open his phone each time to check his blood glucose, and the customizations along with the big & bright displays allows him to see it in room at night. It was fairly easy to setup and we highly recommend it for all the diabetic warriors out there. Thanks for bringing this awesome product to show us on your channel.

This device is absolutely AMAZING, one little thing to be mindful of. Whenever the device needs an update it will display your BG at 0 giving anyone a heart attack seeing that number displayed as their BG. Other than that is beyond phenomenal!!! Thank you so much for all your Diabetes content, you have helped us so much since our son’s diagnosis 10 months ago. You really are amazing.

This is a fantastic product... In many ways,.... First off it is usable with various GSM products, and not a product of each individual company. And as you described in this video having it displayed in an area that you frequent is also very important and useful, I also can see why you purchased the 2nd one and I believe you put it in the bedroom again that demonstrates this products affordability. I really like this product and when I do purchase a GSM system sometime in the future, I will absolutely want one of these clock devices they seem to be very thought out and has a lot of thoughtful features. It is as if.... It was a product designed by people that actually have diabetes,... And they probably actually used the prototypes, in order to develop the product further. 🙂

I have 5 of these for my 7 year old son. 4 are in my house and 1 is in my dad's house who babysittes my son every now and then. At first I wasn't sure it would be a big difference from looking at the phone but it does. Sometimes I temporary misplace my phone in my house but not a problem anymore because I know where the sugar pixel is. I can be cooking or be working in my office and just glance to see my son's blood surger. I started with 1 pixel and now I have 5 because for me it makes taking care of my 7 year old with type 1 so much easier.

In a little more diy techie way, you can have a script (Python for example) retrieve the data, put into a time series database (influxdb for example), and then use something like Grafana to create a dashboard to show current number, historical graph, averages for last 7, 30, 90 days etc.. Then have a browser tab open to the dashboard. Granted not as user friendly way as the SugarPixel. Curious, if you have multiple, does one become a "master" to do the retrieval and broadcast/send it to the others or does each do the retrieval? Or is it the app on the phone doing the retrieval and sending to the devices?

  • @TheMcIke

    @TheMcIke

    7 ай бұрын

@@DavidC-rt3or Each SugarPixel is setup independently and each pulls directly from your data source, not your phone (LibreLinkUp, Dexcomm, Gluroo, or Nightscout). TL;DR If you have multiple, each will be setup separately--they show up in the SugarPixel app as different devices with their own configuration. Each SP will directly talk to your data source(s). I have a Libre 3 and used the LibreLinkUp option; the SP is pulling directly from Abbott's servers. I used Gluroo as a source for a bit as I had an earlier version of the SP that didn't have the LLU option and it worked fine (just didn't update as frequently). I already had Gluroo so I could use NightGuard on my watch... Gluroo also pulls directly from LLU, but updates less frequently.

Hello, thanks for running this channel and creating amazing content that helps us managing our blood glucose and overall health. I have been using the libre2 for the last 3 months and wanted to share my experience and get your thoughts please: Average glucose readings from the libre 2 app are below in mmol/L: 7 days: 5.9 14 days: 5.9 30 days: 5.7 90 days: 5.9 The Libre 2 app is showing an estimated A1C = 5.3 % (34mmol/mol) I just got my Lab report and there the HbA1C is 6.2 % I'm diagnosed as pre-diabetic based on my A1C reading. Was wondering there is such a big difference between the HbA1C readings from the Libre 2 and the lab results? Any thoughts?

Also handsfree, I only need the one unit and it is always with me by default, also beeps or vibrates directly on my arm. Bonus: The one I use also shows the last two hours curve, so I know not only the trend, but also if its about to change (curvature)

It works great for monitoring a family member. Actually, that was the main idea behind creating this. It works exactly the same way as your LibreLinkUp account. In the SugarPixel app, you just need to provide your LibreLinkUp log in details. You don't need a phone to be "physically present" but both devices need to be "on-line".

Looks like this is not for all CGM devices. Users of Medtronic Minimed 780g and guardian 4 - excluded! Unfortunately users of Medtronics are left out of all mod cons

As a woman, the huge bunch of cables behind the device would drive me mad. If the wires were white or restrained in some way with cable ties, I would not feel so anxious.

Does your phone need to be near the SugarPixel device ? Does your Dexcom transmitter need to be near the SugarPixel? From what device is SugarPixel getting the data ? I do not use the Dexcom app by the way.

No. The Sugarpixel works over wifi. Doesn't need to be anywhere near the user. Many parents use it to monitor their child at school.

How far you can be away from it to still get the data shown ?

It pulls data from the cloud thru wifi. It doesn't connect to the CGM. So you could be across the country and still get the reading.

Interesting, but I am not sure that I want my blood sugar levels staring at me all day long. With the CGM, at least I can ignore it and not get depressed.

I totally understand as well! I have one but keep it only in my bedroom. My Dexcom alarms no longer wake me, so I rely on the louder alarms from the SugarPixel to wake me at night if I have a hypo

It works regardless of diabetes “type”. As long as you have one of the supported CGM sensors it will work for you!

Their website is somewhat out of date, but it appears as if there’s an updated version of the Libre 2 which does continuous sending of the data to the phone which would be required for this you wish it still required you to scan the sensor to get the data so if you scan it, it will send it to the sugar pixel via the LibreLink but otherwise it only happens as often as you scan

It's a private individual that designed it. They are not likely getting a great deal over cost. I could understand your concern if it was from a large company. Have you priced the other alternatives?
