    if the star systems (Or Worlds, as they call the planets) in the Star Wars galaxy are cities, the galaxy can be likened to our planet. everything we have seen up until this point has been part of the same place. to travel to another Galaxy would be like for us in the real world to try to travel to another planet. It's immensly farther away than anyone has ever traveled. or did I missread your confusion about the locations? Hope this helped.

    In amongst the big, cool stuff like lightsaber vs fighter space combat (an "Anakin's Padawan" move if ever I saw one :), one of the little moments I really love in this ep. is when Ahsoka sees the Purgil. Rosario Dawson has been playing her with a slightly flat affect (here and in Mando S2) to show the burden of what happened with Anakin but when she sees the space whales she smiles with a kind of simple joy and for a second the weight of the world falls from her shoulders and we see the younger, more carefree Ahsoka peek through. Beautifully pitched performance IMO.

    I wonder why Ahsoka said in S2 of The Mandalorian that Grogu couldn't be trained then, if she's willing to train Sabine.

  • @thatnerdtara
    @thatnerdtara2 күн бұрын

    I think that's because Grogu's love and attachment is with Mando, and if he were to train as a Jedi he would be on a completely different path where they would rarely be together. I think it's different with Sabine because she's surrounded by Jedi, and if they were to rescue Ezra she'd have even more of a reason to keep up with her training. But I see what you mean - Ahsoka is a bit more lenient on Sabine. Maybe because of their history? It's definitely a valid question.

  • @inhale1
    @inhale1Күн бұрын

    I wonder if it's a timing thing. Sabine lost her family and she had her falling out with Ahsoka possibly right before Mando finds her on Corvus. So it would make sense that Ahsoka is dealing with that sense of failure as well. I could be way off too lol.

    Yes, star systems are all contained within a single galaxy. For perspective, the nearest dwarf galaxy (which orbits the Milky Way) is Canis Major, and it's approximately 25,000 light years away. The nearest major galaxy like our own, is the Andromeda galaxy at approximately 2.3 million light years away. Even in Star Trek nearly everything took place within only a segment of the Milky Way with only a few instances of travelling beyond it and those were usually extraordinary events and even at the fastest theoretical warp they could travel at, it'd still take nearly 3,000 years to reach the Andromeda galaxy.

    "Your eyes can deceive you, don't trust them." - Obi-Wan Kenobi (to Luke, aboard the Millennium Falcon) Episode IV Also, something else, Tara.... there is a common thread running all throughout Star Wars, and it basically boils down to a line first spoken by Obi-Wan Kenobi in Return of the Jedi: "You're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view." which was slightly expanded upon in Episode III by Palpatine, "Good is a point of view", as well as something Qui-Gon Jinn said in Episode I, "Your focus determines your reality." And, to toss in a "real world" way of putting it.... "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter". Always keep that line of thinking in your head while watching Star Wars. Any references to it may be quite obvious, or REALLY subtle. But it is a thread that can be found in many places throughout the movies and shows (both animated and live action). 2:00 - Remember, Tara.... it's ALWAYS easier to get forgiveness than permission. 3:05 - My ONLY criticism with Jacen is that his hair isn't as "loud" of a green shade that it was in animated form. It's still green, but not as bright as it was animated. 3:25 - Before anyone gives you any static for your opinions.... even back in 1977, George Lucas pretty much said that ALL living things were connected to The Force. There are some factors in how some people are able to USE The Force.......... but EVERYONE has SOME level of potential. 5:55 - Think back to the Prequels, Tara... Obi-Wan often used a "Hyperspace Ring" to take his Jedi starfighter from system to system. This is basically the same thing... just bigger. 8:25 - Tara, I'm not sure if you're aware of this piece of canon or not, but it was the Purgill and their ability to traverse hyperspace that originally allowed/prompted the various species to start mapping routes from one star system to another, originally. IIRC, it was mentioned in various stories prior to this series, I'm just not sure if it was in books, comics, or shows.

    I find it ironic that on this show a massive ring-shaped ship that can travel between Galaxies is key to Thrawn's return because in the original Thrawn books there was a similarly shaped vessel, Outbound Flight, that was a Jedi-led expedition to travel to other Galaxies only for Thrawn to destroy that ship after Thrawn failed to convince the Jedi to turn back/ not accidentally disturb a hostile race (the Yuuzhan Vong) that threatened Thrawn's people and the Galaxy

    The huge leap you have to take in sci/fantasy like Star Wars is the impossibility of the space travel they are doing. Stars in which there are star systems are light years apart. For example the closest star to our sun is Proxima Centauri a little over 4 light years away. In one galaxy there are billions of stars. Ours for example has between 100 to 400 billion stars. Its such a wide gap because we cannot accurately count them. Also when we see a star it has taken its light so long to get to us it might be dead already. Then there is the distance between galaxies. Andromeada Galaxy is 2.5 million light years away. So yeah we have to really lean on the fantasy in Star Wars to accept travel distance and time. Going to another galaxy? Sure we just need big engines or a space whale. Fantasy is fun.

    @@-Devy- During Empire Strikes Back filming Lucas' SFX team said Tie Bombers don't make sense because bombs do not fall in space. Lucas famously said back "This is fantasy give me bombers." The awesomeness of space in general when met with real world facts is a great contrast to what we do in fiction. We have fun with it. Another fact for you is that it take about 8 and a half minutes for light from the surface of the sun to reach earth. That same photon of like take millions of years to travel from the center of the sun to the surface of the sun.

    Only three minutes and seven seconds in and I have some information to share! The New Republic really has some strange priorities! It allows so-called "Indipendant Worlds" in the Outer Rim to suffer needlessly in cases of crisis and trouble, when They should, at the very least, send one of the vaunted Defense Fleet's cruisers to chase away the scumbags occupying Nevarro. Not even a single Squadron shows up to verfy the situation! All because some thick-headed, out of touch bureaucrat decided to evicerate the New Republic Ranger's budget in the name of a de-centralized and weaker military! Then We have Miss. Kane's splendidly sabotourious endeavour: She knows if the New Republic's influence is limited to the Core,and struggles to even properly secure the Mid Rim, the Imperial Remnents will look like hereos should They "coincidently" decide to save the Nevarroians from the Pirate scurge. I would not be suprised if Elia has started to scour the depths of Coruscant to find imperial loyalists hidden amongst the civillian and government population of the Ecumeneuopolis. There are certain industrialists, politicians and even civil servants with a growing sense of frustration and nostalgia towards the recently-established democracy. What do You think?
