The restoration & repair of an old London double decker bus. An AEC Routemaster London Bus from 1960.
On this channel we share our joy (and sometimes frustrations) restoring and operating our fleet of AEC Routemaster London double decker buses, so please hit subscribe and join us on a behind-the-scenes journey as we show what is involved in the day-to-day restoration and repair of these beautiful old vehicles.
We are a slightly eccentric and overly caffeinated group of people with a passion for vintage London buses, particularly the iconic AEC Routemaster double-decker bus. Our aim is to keep these buses where they belong - on the road for future generations to enjoy.
We also love reading all your comments too, so keep them coming!
Thanks for checking out Routemaster-4-Hire on KZread!

Passed PSV 1987 . Drove these out of Peckham. 36 36A 36B and Route 12. Driven in manual they were great
I love London and its general atmosphere, especially after dark. ❤❤
One more comment, that scenery is absolutely amazing. Stunning even! If I was there on that bus, I would be in seventh heaven!
I've loved the Routemasters since Dad took us to London in 1978. They are the best buses ever built. ❤❤❤
Anything of this nature is right up my street! What better way to explore the scenery, than on the top deck of an open top bus!
Is there any updates from the guys that made these great videos
Wll Done
05:20 Vincent Bendix would be turning over in his grave.
And?Where is she now?
Some impressive battery you put on that! The good ole 24V system
Wow
Where in Sussex did it go?
Haha dog was having the ride of his life, gives a slight impression of a MAN 18.280 we have in Adelaide from the sound, nice video again!
Does the bus have windscreen wipers, if so you missed checking them!!!!! Love the videos cheers
Always interesting to see ERG52. 53 still exists and its always a crowd pleaser!!! Just love those REs
A educação publica cada ano que passa só piora !! Saudades da escola no período do regime militar !!!
I remember riding on these buses very quick acceleration. Very modern at the time compared to older buses😂
Sounds lovely. Brought back memories of those old Gals taking me to school all too long ago. Great job.
Do you have to get an MoT for a coach?
It depends on its age and what you intend to do with it.
Guy dumps the channel, leaves it for a year then puts an advert up! This is why I left I’m afraid!!
Well you clearly didn’t leave if you’ve watched this video. 🤌🤣
Very good to watch
When you clean the bus next time don’t have your doggie sitting on the seats. Also mop your way off the bus from front of the bus to the rear and make sure the dog sits and stays at the rear of the bus. No foot or Paw prints on the wet floor. Lol. I love your videos and have learned and enjoy watching them every time they pop up on UTUBE. My name is Stanley. I lived in New York City for 50 years and grew up there. I moved to South Carolina 10 years ago. NYC Is a total mess! VOTE TRUMP.
When she finally kicked into life once more and started moving... almost brought a tear to the eye. And I'm a youngun! I've only ever seen buses like these in old pictures, or ones lovingly restored like this old girl will finally, deservingly, be. Certainly never ridden one or seen one in action in person. I have no nostalgia here... it's just wonderful to see, as an enthusiast of motor vehicles.❤ Excellent work.
Smashing Vid, but an old Green Crosville low decker would have been more appropriate ❤
Nice job getting it back for hire so quickly. I notice the TC plate on the side - South Croydon bus garage, if that original I can safely say I must have travelled on her many a time back then. Loved the old RM's, great buses.
May I please ask if anyone has any information about a website called 'Ians Bus Stop'? I have noticed that his site appears to be unavailable. Any information or news on this site is much appreciated. With kind regards Jonnie. Ex London Transport/Stagecoach bus mechanic.
I found if you google all title zilch happens, but I typed in Ian and as soon as I got that far google showed it and you can access it type one more character and nothing. So try type Ian.
Quite a surprise to see this
Me too! Thought he'd sold up and gone sailing around the world!

Are you going to answer us or not I'm with him has someone else bought the channel
the video is online barely 15 minutes and you demand a prompt answer out of a free service...? Please call XXXXXXXX for automatic prepaid service inquiriess.😂😉
Wow! Surprised to see an upload! Really miss these guys.
@@steveey8351the rest of the old team have a new channel, Koondin Bus Restoration, I think this channel is now run by the new owners of the company.
@@steveey8351 the rest of the guys are at London Bus Restoration for information. Including a cameo from “Lord” Barrington in the latest video.
Is this channel now reactivated or has someone else bought the rights?
In order to keep a KZread channel monetised you have to upload a video or make a community post occasionally, so I’m guessing that’s a primary reason…
@@AgathaAndAnything that’s interesting. Thank you.
Brought a huge smile to my face when she started!
Gram looked a bit like Marty Feldman, when he first appeared, looking over the sheet plastic.
What happened to this channel ?
I went to school everyday on one of these
Most advanced public transport in the US:

watched all of your episodes one after the other and loved every one of them! coming from scotland on a visit to london in 1980 took a ride on one of these buses and loved them right from the start well done guys you're all doing great and the banter and jesting about was really funny and the hard work you all put in was brilliant .
Buen trabajo hermoso en mi país se reconstruia pero se perdió esto por esto pasamos trabajo me motiva si puedes mostrar Leylan Olimpy del 67 Royal Tiguere
If possible can you do a video of an oil change on a Bristol RE and Bristol VR seeing you take out and replace the oil filters and where to drain the oil out and adding fresh oil, as there are few if none of books like Haynes manuals showing you. Also radiator fluid being drained and replaced and removing old fuel and adding new fuel filters.
Dog was having the ride of his life time
Well done lads. Remember getting the number 71 national from Castle Brom to Sutton Coldfield in the mid 70's to go to college.
Thanks for the thermostat "scientific" test procedure, I am going to try it out in my Pegaso (Leyland inspired engine). I hope you all are well. So sad you got tired of preserving buses.
awesome bus i rode and Filmed a Old M&MTB Bus Today what has the Same AEC 590 Engine Used As The Routemaster i Will Send You the link of My Video Once I have Uploaded so you can See The Bus I Rode Sounded awesome
U be better to use a plastic petrol can to put oil in bus cos got flexible hose on them
Now that is going to be one heck of a restoration project; *IT LIVES! at 9:37 - clearly not an original engine: the TL510 clattered around Hampshire in my schooldays. Good luck with bringing the National PUK647R back to life. From May 2022, what progress have you made?
Parts donor now.
@@jamesfrench7299 Probably a sensible decision. Proves the value of the work by the Leyland structural engineers, that the body frame has lasted so log, for its brief trip out onto a public road. Rust in peace.
