    The bolts/lugs on the base is a great idea. I did the Hunter-foot duckbill mod on my own but I’ve had some struggles with it- mostly due to the wheels moving around over the post, and the damage from the winged centering hold-down fitting is frustrating and totally unacceptable. I’m going to weld some 1/2-20’s on there right now! The other problem I had was a destroyed a “heavy duty” pallet in 2-1/2 tires for my jeep. That’s a problem - but I don’t have my shop built yet so no concrete to anchor to. Thanks for the real world tips without the “look what I did!” attitude of other vids. Complexity and attitude is not required LOL

    Method 4: Choose two different Home Depot locations for pickup. Use the text customer service feature on the website, cancel the unwanted item. Then go pick up the tool at the prorated discount…or “hack”. Took two minutes, no human interaction when using the text feature. I even double checked my order status and the batteries were cancelled as requested. Very easy, much smoother, and much faster👍

    Nice trick. I was thinking it may have been the thermistor. Mine stopped working proper and it's nearly impossible to get to . so I took an air blower blew out my coil and it began working well. However a year later my compressor is starting to squeal every now and again. I would have never thought the clutch could be reshimmed. It's definitely worth a try. Thanks for the video. My dad used to always say. Start with cheap then go expensive. Most fixes are simple

    I had to go one size bigger (12ga) with the wires to the elements and use a hydraulic crimp tool. Had the wires burn up a the crimp twice. I do use it hard, though. It runs for 4-5 hours a day, three days a week.

    Do you have any insight as to why my contacter gets hot and smokes after 5 minutes? I’ve rechecked my wiring and the vfd seems to work fine. The contacter will eventually get too hot and pop and my second one is doing it too. I’ve ordered everything from your provided links. Could it be poor quality parts?

  • @LucidAutowerks
    @LucidAutowerks20 күн бұрын

    Not sure but sometimes heat is caused by resistance which is caused by bad connections. I’d start by making sure that all of the wires are appropriately sized and all of the screw terminals are nice and tight.

  • @bucknakedracing68

    Which gauge wire did you use for hot and neutral wires at the contacter? Aside from that detail I’ve ordered every product you had linked and found the 18ga security shielded wire.

    I bought this unit and did not get the clip and carbon brush to allow the unit to give the ability to use the turntable for Welding. I've contacted vevor about this and am getting the runaround. They said it's a consumable they drop $60 off, and I then needed to find the brush and clip. I said no way either send the part or give me a return label and a full refund. I wouldn't have any idea where to buy the part and I'm assuming by there reply they don't offer replacement parts rendering it worthless in time. Bad business practice.

  • @LucidAutowerks
    @LucidAutowerks2 ай бұрын

    Yeah that brush isn’t a part that seems like it would be easy to source. I’ve heard that their customer service isn’t very good. I guess that’s the cost of buying cheap tools from an internet based company. You might be able to check on McMaster.com for something that would work.

    These small ones are rated up to 80 amps. That’s it! I’ve got a similar one, not from Vevor. I think it cost me, around 18 months ago, $325. Prices have dropped to about $263 now. I’ve gone to 120 amps and it’s been ok, but I wouldn’t go higher than that. Mine does have a reverse switch. I’m thinking of going to the next larger size.

  • @LucidAutowerks

    My Hobart 190 just has letters for the settings, but apparently I’ve been using it at 180 amps on the rotary table! Haha. I did notice that I can’t wrench the chuck closed before welding because it’ll be super tough to open the chuck back up after the weld. Other than that, I haven’t noticed any issues.

    Hopefully you see this I’m a little late lol. Something I’ve noticed across all tool brands especially Milwaukee is that there is always a massive price difference between a hex and anvil (driver and wrench). So I have a couple questions, 1: how has the performance been with the modified 2nd gen (I don’t think there is a 3rd gen impact wrench yet)? Have you been able to compare it to the hex impact in terms of performance? And how does it hold up to buying the purpose built impact wrench? Not sure if that’s possible for you or not. 2: is there a hammer/internal difference between the wrench and driver? Usually there’s some small machining differences etc, but I’ve noticed that these are just plug and play swaps. I’m just morbidly curious if they are just the same exact M12 tool, hammer and everything, just with different anvils and charging more for the wrench which I still dont understand. I might be a little more understanding if the hammer assemblies were different to compliment the hardware like on some tools I’ve disassembled but from what I’ve seen I don’t see any visual differences. Maybe the weight of the hammer? I got to know haha. Sorry for long post, thanks for any feedback and sweet vid!!! I’ll probably be doing this with a gen three here soon.

  • @mrb3888
    @mrb38882 ай бұрын

    Wanted to add this too, main reason I’m asking about internal differences is to see if there is an actual performance difference between the two to justify the cost of the impact wrench. But as I said, everything looks identical so who knows
