I was very disappointed in The Joker movie for this reason. I appreciated the attempt to layer the character and show their struggle, but it was ultimately used to "justify" violence. The stigma continues.

i would love if you could make more detailed videos on neuroanatomy as high quality lectures like yours are not readily available. These videos are great but as a 1st year MBBS i would love if there was more depth to them as i couldn't really understand corticopontine, pyramidal thalamocortical fibers etc and there role in overall picture as described by our course book. regards

Not always, no, not even for an empath, looking at that picture is not always triggering that feeling, once you saw it countless times. Now in real scenario, for an empath, it will cause a sense of pain, but the more an empath is exposed to it, that distress diminish. And are other misconceptions you have... I get that there is sort of enough brain scan data, but does not quite go that way for a psychopath. Now when I see a psychopath cry, I don't react like a naive, guliable that I used to be, knowing they most often do it to get what they want. And yes, are more than 1% of them, sadistic ones are to be ones to watch out the most. You're forgetting the machiavelians in this, that will bias your medical data and make you believe bs...

I like this video but I really wish people would stop comparing BPD to CPTSD. BPD has a noted genetic element. CPTSD is caused by the environment you grow up in. People with CPTSD have physical symptoms of PTSD, people with BPD don’t. Nightmares are a chronic part of CPTSD, not so much BPD. CPTSD can ramp up to DID, BPD can’t.

You are believing in hallucinations and delusions that are not true. Tell the truth that they are not real and be free from your torment. …easier said than done but it works. It worked for me after a couple of years.

I think its less where right and wrong live and more where such decisions are made in the brain. Right and wrong might be best left to philsophers and theologians and how such decisions are acted out best left to neurologists and psychiatrists/psychologists.

Excellent! Trying to understand the housemate's paranoia, outbursts of laughter, stealing, calling the police after thinking there are people (threatening) in the backyard, lack of motivation to work and afraid of psych meds or any meds. Using substances to avoid her problems. I know after all of these symptoms, but approaching to get psych help is almost impossible because of her paranoia. Any help would be appreciated 👍

I became friends with this trans person. It was interesting as I never met someone like this. We became great friends. I started to pick up that they always needed a favor. I was always being talked into something. I was always promised to be paid back but it would never come. I would get angry and bring it up. They had no remorse. They would say my comments were the same as their mom. Being told they were a selfish person. I later met someone who went to high school with them and they said they thought this person was a psychopath. I began to research psychopaths and everything is spot on! The stare, no remorse, everything!! This was a great video!

Just saying: You don't need to think inside the box to create a compelling narrative. Creative writing is an art form that requires no rigid adherence to a specific structure. Creative writing is about freedom - the freedom to invent worlds beyond your wildest dreams. The freedom to express yourself - your thoughts, your experiences, your feelings and views. The freedom bring your vision to life. But please, please, PLEASE learn to treat the serious themes (like mental health, trauma, etc.) in your stories with the upmost respect. These stories don't fail because mental illness is too disorganized and thus unappealing. There ARE stories with compelling and eye-opening depictions of mental health that could keep you hooked for days, even long after you finish that experience. There ARE stories with unorthodox and complex styles of storytelling that are both griping and evocative. No, no - these stories fail because they don't treat these themes with the proper respect and delicacy they often require and deserve. They receive backlash - not because of the story structure, but because of their handling and poor representation of these delicate subjects. Please, please, to anyone who wants to tell a story, don't let yourself be disheartened. Tell that story and tell it well. And if at first you don't succeed, that's okay. You'll get better with time, just like any other artist. You got this <3
