I think it could be economic as well. A lot (not all I think) of the gymnast come from money (of all races). As black people are garnering enough wealth to spend on their children’s hobbies and talents there are more black girls in the sport. Shows it’s about financial access as well. There was once a time where black people in this country couldn’t afford this type of sport for their child. Gymnastics is known for being very expensive.

I am a biracial man in his 20s. Few years ago I was a delivery driver for dominos in the spot of my city right between the actual city and the suburbs. Whenever I would deliver to white people in the suburbs I would frequently get 5-10 dollar tips on small purchases. The people that tipped me the best were young and Middle aged blue collar white guys. Some of them (mostly the older white guys) would talk to me for a minute and tell me they appreciate it and they used to do it themselves when they were younger so they understand the importance of tips. The black folks in the burbs however rarely ever tipped and acted more ghetto even though they lived in nice fancy houses. They ALWAYS took their time coming to the door making me look like a fool standing outside for 5 min staring at a door. Or if their in an apartment complex they never tell you which apartment it is and they expect you to just know exactly which door to go to and even then they take a whole day to come to the door. In the actual ghetto neighborhoods I did deliver too I never got tips except from one black guy who was an Amazon driver. What they would do though would tell me I didn’t bring enough sauce or that they asked for diet soda instead of regular when they clearly didn’t. And trying to navigate through all the teenagers on dirt bikes doing wheelies and standing in the middle of the road smoking blunts. My coworkers told me when I first got the job to turn my car off and lock it when I deliver there because literally a week before another driver got robbed at gun point for a PIZZA. I also got ALOT of sexual remarks and invitations to stay for a while. It actually did make me really uncomfortable (and I thought they were trying to set me up by having me distracted while they ransack my car). One particular instance was when I delivered to this black woman and her granddaughter a little ways into the country side. She had to pay in cash, if you already paid for the meal on a card all you have to do is sign the paper (don’t even have to do that anymore) but she didn’t and then she claimed she did pay for it on a card. Her granddaughter was extremely embarrassed and almost cried while her grandmother screamed at me and my manager through my phone. Anytime there was a break in conversation between her and my manager over the phone she would look at me and say “white people” like she wasn’t the one going crazy. There was also a very attractive light skin girl I worked with who I always had a couple classes with in highschool. She told me how when she would deliver to darkskin black women they would be very rude to her compared to light skin or white women.

Nah the real issue is black barbers. Why when I schedule a cut at 2 I’m waitin on the benches until 3:30 because some single mom brought her 5 bald head kids to get a line up that takes 20 min each? Especially as a biracial man a lot of these black barbers don’t even know what to do with my hair I end up going to Dominican barbers they get you right.

A few examples of unconventionally attractive women, from a man: Jennifer Love Hewitt(At the height of her fame, she was regularly described as "Having a rat face"), Jennifer Lawerence (Supermodel body, with a face which resembles a young Jennifer Cooledge), and-prior to plastic surgery smoothing out her rough edges-Sydney Sweeney. Hell, Anne Hathaway has a hellacious overbite. The list could go on at length

1 So out of topic but your voice is sooo cute 2 All these dumb categorizations and resemblance we make between us humans and other animals to the point of… reptilians and rodents show that, in the end, we’re still animals lool 3 I think it shows that men really receive sooo many benefits from being with a woman, specially a woman that is deemed attractive. I wonder if these men were paired with women who are not considered “attractive” people would consider them (the men) attractive, like because he could pull THAT (beautiful) woman, despite not being the conventional attractive men, he could also be with YOU. 4 And now that I think about it, it might also be because parasocial relationships are being both normalized and being more common. Maybe we’re unconsciously looking for people we THINK WE COULD be with, despite not being true. Specially because the whole dating scene rn is in a very bad place. 5 I definitely feel like categorization with women is a very interesting topic because I feel like for women (I am a woman im just cosplaying as a boy in this channel because I felt like it) you either considered pretty or you’re not. And there is definitely a taboo, there is a higher expectation for women to be pretty AND if you’re not, to work it till you make it (metaphorically and literally), whereas it seems men always have a public. Like there’s someone rooting for them and if there’s no one rooting for them, someone will just to be different, but I feel like that another topic. ++++

6 I’m not black and only in this point I might be talking too much and I understand if people might want to correct because I don’t understand enough, but I must say that I think one of the reasons people don’t include black people in these ‘trends’ might be 50% racism and 50% they don’t want to get in trouble. In the past years (in social media) racism has been a hot topic (as in, it can burn you if you don’t handle it well, and also a very mainstream topic) everywhere. For a lot of people, everytime there is a black person on the screen, it comes with the whole BLM movement and feminism and a lot of other topics. So if this topic by itself is not exactly a good thing, because we are comparing actual, real people to animals and not only real but also FICTIONAL animals, can already be wrong, imagine if people were to compare a black person to a rodent. And I don’t mean to disrespect at all, but I’m sure that if someone in the comment of a TikTok that compared black people to these rodents were to say “oh she’s more like a Mickey Mouse attractive type” people would get SOOO angry at them. Even if the comment was made with no bad intentions. Now the other thing that people might not be talking too much about. Black people have been included in a ton of movies and series these past 5 years. But that hasn’t been the case forever. 2024, most of the young adults who are the main people creating content and trends, are gen z who were born in the mid to late 2000s and even early 2010s where things such as black characters did not exist as much as they do today. If there were any black characters in a movie for kids in say 2009 it most certainly was not the main character, it might not even be a side character, it might be a nameless character, OR it might not even exist at all. We consume media and these media makes us who we are, when we grow up we reminisce of movies that we watched as kids and turn it into a fun thing that we can share with people close to our age because we can relate. But what if there is a group of people who were not included in this movies from 10 years ago but are actively present in our lives? We can’t include them, not always. Also, black people are not give popularity like white celebrities are. Im what USA citizens would call a “Latina” and as black people, we need to fit into a role to be noticed, for Latinos it is the (not true) poor worked their way to the top by sleeping with everybody and drinking beer all day and everything is reggaeton, cholas or buchonas; for black peoples is actually very similar with the poor or medium class worked their ways to the top, baddies curvy chains and all that; Asians have to be smart and pure and very innocent and mostly very intelligent, even more than Americans. The thing is that at the end of the day, people who are not white can VERY VERY HARDLY get popular by being “normal” which is someone who doesn’t do drugs or go to jail or do anything that is considered wrong by their standards/laws. Therefore, there aren’t that many black people on the scene and I can very disappointingly say that I, myself can’t tell you the name of a back actor on the spot and that that is the truth for a lot of people, maybe even black people. I’m not saying that’s 100% the case because, 1 I’m making this comment with no investigation whatsoever apart from your video and because 2 I’m sure there is at least 1 character that could be used to include black people in this (still, not that is is a good thing) and 3 black people who looks like mouses have to exist I mean come on there has to be at least one person Also I must say, not everything depends on white people, as a Latina I see nobody talking about this in my language and I think that if we were to want to be included, maybe, we could try to include ourselves and not wait till a white person comes out and say oh hey this brazilian guy looks like a freakin pig and everyone says oh yeah wow so inclusive thanks my guy. You know? Like nobody is asking JTBC (a Korean company that produces kmovies and kseries) to include a black person in their Korean dramas despite the fact that this dramas are watched all around the world by millions but everyone expects usa to include black people in a two week trend?

@20:55 People are acting like this because Black people in America are accustomed to being treated badly by non-black businesses (followed in stores but when we need help no one can assist, the waiters not tending to our table as much as the others). So some Black owned/run businesses feel like we are only deserving of a non-racist experience and not above and beyond customer service.

in relation to the lack of "popeyes effect" African braiding, many Africans don't have that internalized racism that leads many to give other black ppl bad service. They actually are welcoming when african- Americans come to their shops. The best is when they hear you're traveling to Africa (especially if it's their country) and they plug you with all the spots to visit. Next time (or few times) you come to get your hair done, best believe everyone in the salon will hear all the details from the owner and see your vacation photos.

There is way to much emphasis on looks in society. You can find people attractive based on all sorts of things, not just looks. Also I think the internet gives a scewed version of reality. I live in a majority white country, am darker skintoned and overweight but with a smaller waist and big bust. A lot of people compliment me from diffrent backgrounds. Not just guys, the kids at the school I work or other women to. I think being being attracted to people can differ from "being attractive" because as cliché as it sounds... It really is about the whole package. I think people are surprised if they find somebody attractive that the media hasn't told they should find attractive. Tbh a lot of the guys you showed didn't seem attractive to me. Kendrick actually looked better then most of them 😅. But i guess in mainstream American media; white and skinny is still right. Thank goodness for the internet. I watch a lot of diffrent people and seeing all that diversity does really help for confidence for me personally. At the end of the day we are all people and everybody wants to be threated nice regardless of how you look. So I like to threat everybody with the same kindness regardless of their look because I hope the would do that for me to. Love your videos ❤.

Extraordinarily well-thought out and presented. Your analysis around race, weight, etc. hit the mark hard, and I concurred with every one of your assessments of who was outside the “rodent man” category and why. Some would call this a superficial subject and say you were overthinking, but for me it’s a deep, thinking-person’s dive. Thank you!
