This is such bullshit. No, they don’t “learn” the language in 6 months, they get to lower intermediate level. Now that’s pretty good for half a year, but they ain’t learned it

Of all the language KZreadrs I truly relate to you the most. You are a “polyglot hybrid” I would consider you to be a polyglot/ athlete hybrid. I’m a “polyglot/metaphysician” hybrid. Having this hybrid personality makes you more detailed oriented. You blend them together. I blend languages with metaphysics because of the matrix movie. The matrix talks about how human reality is a simulation so to me languages are just “codes of the matrix” within the simulation. Every time we change languages our Brains “switch codes within the simulation”. Are you a fan of former soccer player and “matrix exposer” David Icke?❤

Steve's Italian is alright, especially given that it's not a language he has put a lot of time into compared to other languages he has studied. It's pretty impressive to be able to speak off the cuff in a language that maybe isn't your best out of all the 20+ you know. He's perfectly understandable and can understand, too. That's all you really need. People don't really give a shit about accent unless it's so strong you can't be understood, which his is far from being.

"Why is this ambiguously brown guy rolling through Paris speaking french with an accent that comes from South France?" HUH?? That would be completely normal and not even sus, France is a diverse country and there are plenty of brown and black people, even in the south of Franxe (especially Marseilles) This guy does not know what he is talking about

There are free materials available from various US government language learning programs, including the Foreign Service Institute and the Defense Language Institute. Some are better and more complete than others, and many are quite old, but some are quite usable.

I am wondering how they work with accents if you are an "undercover agent" a lot of people can talk a language perfect by heart and practice but majority of cases you will know that person is not from there because of their accent. You will use a cover story? 🤔🤔

Summary 1. Learn the most common 1000 words 2. Learn basic grammar structure 3. Focus more on input. Listen to compréhensible content. Use target language subtitles. 4. Read alot to learn new vocabulary in context plus understand grammar. Start with simple stories and progress with time. 5. It is okay if you don’t understand everything, learning a language takes time so be patient with yourself. 6. Speaking comes easy if you’re having enough input(listening and reading) so immerse first!
