    Is there a controller like this to convert a portable electric start to a 2 wire standby startup? My solar controller accepts generator input and has a 2 wire signal to start the generator. But my portable doesn't have 2 wire compatibility.

    will the generator automatically shut down when batteries are at full charge?

  • @DCAutogen
    @DCAutogen4 ай бұрын

    There are a few ways to approach this. If your inverter/charger has a programmable dry contact relay, this can be programmed to send a start and stop signal to AutoGen according to battery bank state of charge. If this is not available, you would need to add our DC current sensor which will calculate when to shutdown the generator by observing the tail current drop during the Absorbtion stage of charging. When current falls below a preset value, AutoGen controller will shutdown the generator. It does not calculate state of charge though.

    Very cool and I have cellular phone, android. But there is no grid in many places with internet so how can this connect unless it has a cell service subscribed in to the controller. Like those little security cameras, you must have cable or a mobile hot-spot which must be connected/activated for use. We know things dont just 'connect' to the internet without a sim card and subscription.

    @@DCAutogen 🤔 ok.....probably easier to explain it, but if it doesn't make sense, i can draw something up.... Basically, i bought a typical Firman Generator, i think it's a 3,650 watt, electric start with remote start fob..... I'm bolting it down in the back of my utility truck, and have a 60 amp battery charger hardwired into a 6 unit battery bank....... I am unable to purchase an AGS switch, due to supply chain issues..... So after seeing your video, it looks like i could DIY an AGS switch from relays and voltage monitors..... Purpose: Batteries get low, i want a voltage monitor to automatically turn on the generator, until the battery bank is at proper charge, then turn off the generator.....and the entire system to run automatically, without any help from me

    i've got a system with 3x 100ah batteries that charge off solar but in winter there isn't enough sun to keep them fully charged. they run motion activated security cameras through an inverter that takes the 12vDV up to mains voltage. total current draw is about 4amps. looking to install an auto start gen there to keep the batteries charged in winter without having to start a gen there every day. gen would need to start when batteries are low and shut off when they are at the desired voltage. wondering if you have a controller that would do this that i could purchase. i would be using a small diesel engine so i don't need to do anything with choke. hopefully you can help
