I really don't believe that the environmentalist are all that concerned about the pollution of cars. I think that's just a facade for what they really think the problem is and that's people.

Unfortunately, much of what Musk and Tesla says are obvious misrepresentations. They run their motors at higher power levels not because they are designed for higher power levels but they have temperature sensors so they can theotrle back when ivee heating begins. They do the same with their DC fast charging port and charging stations, the conductors are underspecced and actually designed for much lower charge rates (note surprising given how early they were released) but Tesla claims that sensors allowing them to throttle back as the conductors overheat allows them to claim the higher charge rates. The range are of course guesstimates and they keep their battery managment systems collected data from public eyes. The so called full self drive is still very much just level 2 semi-autonomous self drive. Elon Musk is all about promotion and not about any truthful statements. However, we can credit him for being disruptive enough to get the industry moving.

I double clutch anyway, not cause anyone told me so, but I just looked at how a transmission is designed and figured that's just how you do it. Wears less on the syncros

I hit a pole hole in my Tesla 12/3/23. There are only 2 shops in town that work on Teslas and they told me the soonest they could do anything with my car was July 2024… luckily there was an opening and I was able to get my car towed there 3/4/24. Last week I found out there’s battery damage and my car is being totaled. The market value has dropped $10k since I hit that pothole.

CAD$100k with tax for something that will be worth $20k in 3 years. Insane how expensive EV's are, and worthless after 5 years. As much as I like this car, as soon as I looked up the price, hard pass. I will save for a CT5V Blackwing, same price for a used model.

So basically just charge the car when you need to use it, drive it as usual and stop stressing about it because you will probably have a new one many years before the battery fails.

Really appreciate the in depth reasons for best practice battery care. In my case the power rates are lower off peak, but I will still want to keep the car plugged in so the battery cooling can take place in hot weather.

I have a question about level 1 vs level 2 charging under this recommendation. If I follow this advice and charge frequently to 80% wouldn't it be better to use a level 1 charger instead of a level 2? My logic is that the parked electrons wouldn't be moving as fast to relocate and be more efficient at finding a parking space meaning less heat, expansion and thus degradation. Thanks for a great video :)

I consider AMSOIL the best,so far. They received there API certification in the 70s. That's 50 years in the business. And they have improved over those years. As far as old engines, 70s and early years. Zinc content can be an issue. I've got 3 vehicles pushing over 250k. And an old 70s Chevy.
