Hadar thanks for sharing your experience. I have a question 🙋‍♀️ Now that you are learning Spanish, Which language do you think is harder to learn English or Spanish? I’ve heard Spanish is harder, I’m learning English as a second language. Spanish is my first language. Thanks 😊

As far as I know you speak Arabic. So it’s gonna be easier for you. Spanish shares at least 2.000 Arabic words.

I don’t know who to believe cause some people say it’s easier to learn spanish than to learn English, I believe it depends on the individual and one’s capacity to learn

Buen profesor, pero es muy diferente estudiar y aprender español "ESPAÑA" que español "AMERICA LATINA" España no se habla como aquí en América Latina, aquí tenemos mucho vocabulario, mejores palabras y el acento suena mejor, sería Sería bueno si compararas videos en español de España y españoles de América Latina para que puedas ver la diferencia. es como hablar britanico y americano, Saludos desde Perú Good teacher, but it is very different to study and learn Spanish "SPAIN" than Spanish "LATIN AMERICA" Spain is not spoken like here in Latin America, here we have a lot of vocabulary, better words and the accent sounds better, it would be nice if you compared videos in Spanish from Spain and Spanish from Latin America so you can see the difference. It's like speaking British and American, Greetings from Peru

Here in Québec, the government pays me to learn French but it is hard to go to classes again after my age (40s) and having speaking other 3 languages before. It is too time wasted, I get the lessons quickly, some subjects and listening practices don’t interest me, and the drills and pronunciation part are lacking. However, I cope well besides of hating presentations and homework because I have a life outside classroom. To solve this, I have to say that I’ve been applying your methods of muscle memory and shadowing by myself, and I’ve been more specific in putting my energy in my targets which are having to be able to communicate informally and taking the official French exam (which results I have to show many times here).

Classes are not always mean to understand all the content. The utility of the classes is also to be like a map to know the existence of the things that I'm not aware of. For example, speaking about reflexive verbs. I could have no idea what they are for. But I wil write in my notebook: "Reflexive verbs" just to acnowledge their existence, and later, on my own, I will try to figure out what they are, even if I can not incorporate them in my mind. And nowadays, one can ask a lot of questions to different AIs (chat-GPT, Gemini, Copilot etc). Learning grammar doesn't always mean grasping the structure but rather memorizing sentences. I may not comprehend reflexive verbs or particles in, but I will memorize 'Me lavo las manos' for 'I wash my hands' in Spanish. Understanding the structure isn't necessary at first; memorization suffices. Over time, memorizing these chunks of expressions will naturally lead to an understanding the grammatical structure.

lean in to the discomfort . Israel is a very intense place that's also making you be hard on yourself all the time, and after your moving it takes months of even years to de-stress. one good thing to learn from the Iberians is to treat ourselves better and the joy of life. embrace the freedom and learning in the discomfort, your kids will be fine, they are way more adaptable and they need to learn the complexity of life dont feel guilty . remember you are giving them a great gift by relocating they will appreciate dearly later in life. Spanish people are very nice and you can create friendships there quickly even without Spanish, Catanic i dont know- language might be more important to them cos of the national and identity thing there - might be harder but probably not everyone i haven't lived there was just on a long visit. but making local deep friendships really eases the move. not only exspats friendships. checkout the places where you can meet like-minded open local people - they know there way around the city, will give you the best tips and will make you feel you have a new home for real as you meet and do things regularly . might be a good idea to work even part time with locals or for a local company/school or anything in order to meet people.

It was interesting to see that is not only in Brazil that courses try to teach a language only by writing and learning about rules, don't get me wrong, these things are extremely important, but focus only in it make us loose interest. Your Podcast is awsome, please keep doing it forever. Take care😊

On youglish, I heard a native speaker sounding differently: avuh instead of aduh. Or maybe they dropped the T sound and made connection between out and of, to sound like aʊəv, and because they were speaking quickly, maybe I misheard it.

Hi Hadar! In some moment of your journey learning Spanish, you will notice there are SO MANY (and I mean a LOT) words in Spanish that are very similar in meaning and spelling, but the pronunciation differs in the primary stress syllable, that makes me crazy. It is excellent because you can increase your vocabulary very quickly, but it is bad because you misspronunciate the words. I can´t wait for the click moment when you realize (in your very organized teacher´s brain) how to recognize them-not falling under English rules, but another genuine way to put the stress in the right place when you see those words . My best wishes to you, kisses, Sandra Sierralta

El acento español no es del agrado de muchas personas, en latinoamérica hay diversos acentos que son más lindos, con el tiempo podrás distinguirlos y elegir tu preferido. Saludos y que disfrutes del proceso de adquirir un nuevo idioma. No es sencillo el español, te espera una tarea bastante ardua.
